The Orioles announced that they designated left-hander Dana Eveland for assignment. The move creates roster space for Miguel Socolovich on the 25-man roster.
Eveland, 28, has appeared in 14 games for the Orioles this season, including two starts and 12 relief appearances. He has a 4.73 ERA with 5.0 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 32 1/2 innings. This marks the third time this year the Orioles have designated Eveland for assignment.

He was DFA’d two weeks ago too. And he’ll probably be DFA’d two weeks from now as well.

I have been on vacation so I haven’t been following the Orioles as closely as I normally do. I thought this was an old story being re-posted when I first saw it.

But why Socolovich? Isn’t the bullpen rested enough to call up a position player?

i think they’re just buying time, resting their key bullpen pieces as much as possible for this final 2 month stretch run.

I think a trade is coming very soon. Hopefully its a good one cuz competition is tight right now. O’s facing the A’s who are hot as hell, coming out of nowhere.. This is a big series against them this weekend for the final wild card spots.
