The Orioles have released pitcher Dennys Reyes for failure to report to camp, according to Rich Dubroff of CSNBaltimore.com (via Twitter). The 34-year-old agreed to a minor league deal with the O's back in January.
The left-hander briefly appeared in the Major Leagues last season with the Red Sox. Prior to that, Reyes spent two seasons with the Cardinals where he posted a 3.42 ERA with 6.6 K/9 and 4.8 BB/9.

The Orioles release someone for not showing up to camp, then what do they do when nobody shows up for the season? Grant them extensions?

Reyes took off on Boston when they sent him to Pawtucket after he imploded in his 1st game of the season last year.. He must have some Zambrano in him.

“Edited by a moderator” is the scariest, most Orwellian thing I have ever seen on a baseball blog’s comments section.

Must have been the Secret Service 😉

It’s funny now until strangely and disparaging comment about the Cubs suddenly shows up as “I love the Cubs. I love the Cubs so much. (Edited by a moderator)” 😛

In three years, everyone who visits this site will turn into a Cubs fan. Tim’s secret plan.

Judging by the size of him I think he has a Zambrano in him and then some. Probably find it next to the grand slam breakfast…

You have to feel sorry for the guy anyway to have such tragedy and to make it to the big leagues.. I guess most here know?? look at him and NOT being disrespectful here at all.. This guy suffered a TERRIBLE tragedy as a youngster, yet made it to the major leagues.
Just wish he would realize he needs to actually stick around a minor league field once his talents wane now to continue his miraculous achievement.

But at this point he really could benefit from a nice big slice humble pie…

Could see the Cardinals bringing him back for minor league depth. If he reports to Spring Training.

He was good while he was here. And he’s a really good clubhouse guy. I’d love to bring him in.

This is a sure sign of the quality of the Orioles’ upcoming season. When a lousy player like Reyes can’t even bring himself to face time with the team, you know it can’t be good.
Note to fans south of Baltimore: the Nats should be a lot more fun to watch this year, and you are totally in their logical territory.

What is +1/2St.?

“Positively Half St.” – It’s how my comments usually appear on Nats boards. I include it mostly for those Nats fans that may be on this site. Nationals Park is on Half St. in DC.

Seriously a Natinals fan talking smack. What have the Natinals won ever? Oh they almost made it to 500 last year in a much weaker division. Oh and were 3-3 against the awful orioles.

Poor form. If you’re going to quit, then at least have the courtesy to tell them.

Whether he performed or not, at his age on a one year deal for a team needing to build for the future….Im not heartbroken, at best he would be depth. At worst, he would keep a young guy from showing what he has at the upper level.
Ill take it.
StarzRocks
Don’t bother him, he’s eating!!! And anyway, because of his size, he’d aim toward the plate (home plate…not the one at the dinner table), but when he released the ball, it went to first. The umps told him to pitch to the batter, and stop throwing pick off moves to first with no one on base.

<<<<< dennys reyes does not like this!

Weird that no comment has been made about his lession in a finger, and he had to attend an appointment with a Los Angeles based doctor the same day he had to report to camp.

Weird that Reyes makes no mention of not contacting the Orioles until the first few weeks of Spring Training had already passed. You have to realize that your career is in trouble when my lowly Orioles only offer a minor league contract and you can’t even show up for that chance.
