Roy Oswalt is looking to sign a three-year contract, sources tell MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan and Bill Ladson (Twitter link). Oswalt is thought to be waiting out the market, since interest in the right-hander may increase once top options like C.J. Wilson and Mark Buehrle are off the board.

i was afraid he’d ask for 4. asking for 3 means 2 with a mutual option should be attainable. sign this man

My thoughts exactly. Finally an update on the pitcher I actually want this offseason.

Think it would depend on the $$$ per season, but otherwise am all with you here.
Oswalt am pretty sure of ALL the FA SP pitchers is the one who 3 years down the road would be actually a top tier starters for whoever signs them and is also a perfect fit for boston.
I really hope that Henry will allow them to go over the luxury tax threshold to get him with Ortiz now accepting arbitration, even if getting oswalt would take (like you suggested) 2 guaranteed at, say 13-14m and a club option with even possible vesting options dependent on starts for the 3rd.

And I am seeking Adriana Lima to be my bride

Smart guy has a good agent. He made himself much more attractive by asking for a three year deal. Problem is would he be able to make the switch to the AL?

Why Not? O’s said they are giving three year deals for pitchers.

This guy has bounce back written all over him. The third year would still make me a touch uncomfortable, but maybe a mutual option on that third year would make me jump.

anyone remember hearing that he might retire last year?

PLEASE Angels… sign him over CJ Wilson (if his demands are as ridiculous as reported).
What has Roy ever done to make people lose confidence in obtaining him? seriously

3 years after arguably his worst season? That’s a bit much.
