The Tigers signed Chance Ruffin for $1.15MM, according to Mike Berman of News8Austin (on Twitter). MLB.com's Jason Beck confirms the report (Twitter link). The 21-year-old right-hander was a pitcher at Texas, where he started and relieved for the Longhorns. The recommended bonus for the 48th overall pick was $728K last year, so Ruffin appears to be getting an above-slot deal.
Here's our complete list of first-round picks to sign.

the tigers could have a GREAT bullpen in a couple of years. perry, schlereth, and ruffin could be formidable trio. that, with coke and a healthy zumaya is scary. of course, they still won’t be able to hit.

Hopefully Perry can develop another + pitch, that fastball isn’t enough when he can’t throw anything else well.

his slider has the potential to be an above average pitch. anyway, the tigers bullpen is something to be excited about. and after watching how well scherzer pitched tonight – and over the past few months – the rotation has a solid two pitchers at the top of their rotation for awhile.

I agree about the rotation. Porcello will be a solid pitcher as well. This is a down year for him. What he did last year at such a young age with such little minor league experience was nothing short of amazing. He proved himself to me during 163 against the twins last year. He’ll bounce back.

Hey, his name isn’t Castellanos so I don’t care about this yet

Doesn’t seem like the best start to your pro ball career when your name is Chance….

Especially in a system where Leyland will probably control him at some point. No Chance.

Ya because Rodney and Zumaya were never any good…

Good stuff. I really like adding another high potential power arm to our group of young reliever prospects.
