is it fair to say, that Elly is a more valuable commodity than Julio Rodriguez?
Larry – Yes! Especially when you factor in JRod’s ridiculous contract.
JRod’s numbers have steadly dropped after his rookie season, he needs to step up big time to earn his pay.
He is usually torrid for 5 straight weeks & tepid the rest of the season. His lack of consistency is frustrating. His end of season numbers hide his deficiencies.
I get that Trevor Bauer isn’t everyone’s favorite, but what exactly has this guy been convicted of that they seem to hate him so much? People forgave a guy like Mike Vick, heck, we all love Bartolo Colon and he had a second family behind his wife’s back. If he’s willing to get paid the minimum and no one is giving him a chance it really stinks of a “blackballing” so to speak. Aroldis Chapman likely threatened a family member with a firearm, no one seems to care, what’s the deal? Why the double standard? Is it simply Bauer’s extremely punchable face?
“…what exactly has this guy been convicted of that they seem to hate him so much?”
First off he hasn’t been convicted of anything, but that misses the point. The question should be what has this guy done that makes every team not want anything to do with him? The answer to that is something that’s not public, which is the MLB internal investigation.
A bit of empirical thinking should bring one to the conclusion that every team has seen that report, and there’s enough there that teams want to avoid anything to do with him. We’ll probably never know what’s in that report, but it’s a reasonable conclusion, since he’ll never pitch in MLB ever again, that it had to be pretty bad.
Adrian Peterson whipped his son until his genitals were bloody. Are you saying it’s worse than that? Peterson played half a decade after that came out. If it’s that bad why would no one report on such a juicy story? It just doesn’t add up…
Tyreek Hill choked his pregnant girlfriend in college and then years later likely broke his 3 year old son’s arm and he is still in the league. No one seems to care, but people will line up to fight you over Trevor Bauer and the best I can get is a response like yours. “It’s so bad they don’t even talk about it” It really seems like nonsense to me.
There must be a hidden “no donkey punch” rule, lol. I agree with you though. It’s a double standard. The other guys were minorities so the leagues were probably afraid of racism. Bauer is white and he has “colonizer” blood in his veins. So it’s cool to the lib if he’s chucked off a cliff, basically.
Phyguy0880, Different sport, different sports’ league. What the NFL did, and does, about guys like Peterson, Hill, and Ray Rice is irrelevant. If there was one disciplinary body overseeing the NFL and MLB you might have a point. But there isn’t. Plus, we know what the NFL guys did, we don’t know the whole story about Bauer.
You asked what did he do. Again, we don’t know since we don’t have access to the internal report. All we know for sure is that there is a reason for no team to want anything to do with him. We don’t know what the the reason is, but we know one has to exist for teams to shun him the way they have.
“If it’s that bad why would no one report on such a juicy story? It just doesn’t add up…”
Because the investigation report has been kept private by MLB It’s never been published, and MLB probably sees it as something they don’t want to be associated with. It’s possible that additional women, beyond the two that went public, volunteered to testify under the condition of anonymity. A good reason why the report wasn’t published.
You’re beating a dead horse, because the only other thing we know for sure is that Bauer will never pitch again in MLB. Moaning and groaning about it is just wasted and misdirected energy.
@Phyguy0880, you asked and you got the true answer from another user but you decided to double down with NFL comparisons. Trevor Bauer is not coming back to MLB.
