The Guardians would want no part of Stroman and his contract. Storman’s attitude and baggage would not be received well in Cleveland. To be worth anything, Stroman would have to eat innings. If he eats innings, then his option vests and he becomes even more overpaid.
Cracks me up how many were personally offended at the affront of having 1 non-baseball up for a few hours
Never a shortage of people online eagerly looking for a reason to rage
Me when my free app has advertisements (I’m being robbed):
Made me want to go Aggro, man.
I was just confused. Like someone else posted, for a second I wondered if I’d slept two months straight and it was Apr 1st.
Not a basketball fan, so it just felt weird. I barely know who Anthony Davis is and had no idea who the other guy is.
Not sure why that one person got bent out of shape over the Luka/AD trade post on here…I didn’t mind it at all and honestly served as a reminder to check out Hoops Rumors occasionally, especially during the trade deadline.
The reaction seemed really negative, so I decided to take it down. We’d done a Hoops Rumors cross-promotion post a few days prior, so it was probably too much.
My Hoops guy had to make a call on that at 12:45am, I was asleep at the time. I’m not sure what I would’ve said in the moment. From what I understand there’s an argument that trade was huge enough where if you’re gonna cross-post a specific deal once a year, that was it.
But as Steve said I can see the annoyance of a baseball purist. It’s not my goal to make a bunch of people mad.
I have to kind of reset and decide how often we should mention our other sites on here. I think it should be more than zero but beyond that I haven’t decided.
Don’t get the negative reactions to the article. Imo, it’s perfectly acceptable for you to mention your other sites as often as you like.
I think some sort of reference to the fact that it was a cross post (like putting “Hoops Rumors” in parenthesis or something) would’ve been appropriate and less jarring, similar to when you guys have sponsored posts. Otherwise I don’t see the big deal. I wouldn’t even mind more cross posts for major news.
I understand your point, Tim.
Way overblown and hyperbolic response IMHO.
Thanks for doing what you all do. It’s why we’re here!
I am not interested in basketball, so I scrolled past it. I don’t get what the problem is.
I thought it was a mistake, didn’t read it, and moved on. Simple.
The vitriol was undeserved. Agree with another poster, if you tag it as hoops rumors and be more clear about the cross promotion, that should be enough.
For the most part, I think people were confused. Most didn’t even care. There’s a very small subset of people who comment regularly, at least that’s my guess. Maybe have a specific banner for cross promotions. That said, I wouldn’t do it that often. I get there’s a balance between as you want to increase awareness of the other sites.
Tim – Anyone that complained was already angry, they were just looking for something to complain about.
You guys are phenomenal with the huge volume of baseball articles, therefore occasional cross promoting shouldn’t upset anyone. It would be different if we were starving for baseball content, but that is never the case.
If you intend to make a poll, put me down for 2-3 cross promotions a month.
I’ve “pretty much” sworn off ice cream until March. I didn’t say for sure. “pretty much” isn’t the same as “for sure”.
