Im a jays fan, And..im actually very happy we got Gimenez, he’s elite defensively, his bat could use some work (obviously) but this is a good pickup for us.
Sad to see horwitz go, I loved watching him play with us, and it was ice following him to the minor leagues as he came up.
The pirates have a very good second baseman and I hope he can reach his full potential and stay good for a long time.
Luis Ortiz is a decent guy as well, seems like he could be good for the gaurds.

Russian – I agree with you on Yorke, it would be nice to see him develop.

Absolutely but here’s to hoping that trade late last season works out great for both teams.

Yankees will miss out on the 2 best players available (Cubs will land Tucker). They will probably trade for Bellinger, sign Walker and call it a great offseason.

@bronx
Now that soto is gone, its looking more likely the Yankees will get tucker and extend him, and sign Walker as well.
ReyDay
Tucker is not signing an extension before FA and I doubt Yankees have enough prospect capital to get him over other teams.

I don’t know, Hoyer is such a prospect-hugger and Ricketts has been reluctant to pay premium for players, it’s see to believe on the Cubs getting Tucker. Yankees are still in it in my opinion.

@RussianSportsFan Nick Gonzales is a fine 2B. Pirates plan to use Horwitz at 1B. He’s someone the Pirates have had their eye on for a few years. The Cherington, Hague and IKF connection hopefully pays off. Gimenez is a really nice pick-up for the Blue Jays. Gimenez, Ortiz and Horwitz are all unfinished products. The potential is there for all 3. TINSTAAPP on Kennedy and Hartle.

This. They even did the classic underbid on Soto to go “well we tried!” like usual. Better offseason than i was expecting so far at least, but close to what i assumed would happen when Hal midseason pretty much admitted they couldnt afford a Soto extension
BronxBombers23
Would be a good offseason if they add 2-3 good bats and a lefty reliever.

As a Tigers fan I can understand why you would think Cobb is underwhelming. But when healthy he has been a solid starter. May or may not be the end of their pursuit of additions. But do agree the Tigers seem loathe to add anyone on a long term deal and also loathe to give up draft picks for players issued a QO. That does limit who they will pursue. Harris also is someone who does not like to wait the market out. He wants to go get what he needs and get it done and over with. Some of the other SP’s on the market are attached to QO’s and others are more willing to play the long game. So rather than lose out late, Harris is taking what he can get now. Once he does that then maybe he can wait the market out some on some other targets. Great if he gets them but he is set if he does not. The one that might break this trend is Bregman, whom the Tigers are still noted to be interested in.
The other thing, not just with the Tigers but in general, is that players have preferences. Very possible the Tigers targeted other pitchers who just said no thanks.

The concern with Cobb is not that he can pitch well. The concern is he available to pitch. He pitched in only 5 games for the Guardians after the deadline and two of those were in the playoffs.
That is the risk of Alex Cobb.
