7:09; Austin Hays can hit when healthy. Can be had for well under 10 mil. Definitely within small market Royals budget. The rub? Year in and out struggles staying on the field due to a plethora of nagging injury and illness.

Still waiting for a Padres move of significance, and not a salary dump.
aussiegiants53
What could they do though? Don’t they want to cut payroll?
towinagain
Absolutely ownership wants a firesale.
With that being the emphasis, Preller has to literally work around the current ownership group.
Hope for a Hoffman for Sheffield type trade despite receiving zero support from Padres ownership.
Brew88
If ownership wanted a fire sale, we would have seen it already. U koo koo

Calm. TF. Down… towin. Unbearable. The roster is nearly full, we ALL knew this would be a quiet offseason.
towinagain
Akin to a “punt” year if the roster is:
Sullivan at catcher
Ornellas at LF
Trading Cease leaves rotation of:
King
Darvish
Waldron
Vasquez
Minor league call up or rule 5 starter
That is a fourth place team.
towinagain
Couple that with shipping out Arraez, last years batting champ, who was a major component of the second half surge.
The team, without Profar, Arraez and Higashioka looks a lot differently offensively last year.
Replacing:
Profar > Ornellas
Hiigashioka > Sullivan
Arraez > minor leaguer from trade
Cease > Waldron
Etc.

You’re projecting, tow. A lot.

The entitlement thing has gotten tiring.
Not even positing on articles related to the Padres. Every Single Day.
Mute.

It’s like Padres ownership are saying, we were all in last year but not this year.

Do the Mets, need Pete Alonso more ? Or does Pete Alonso need the mets more ?
Sean The Trucker
Pete needs the Mets more. Why? Because he isn’t getting what he asked for… From anyone.
billysbballz
If Milwaukee isn’t a serious contender will they consider dealing Sal Frelick for prospects rather then wait?
Ezpkns34
If I were running them, I’d be open to calls on Frelick regardless of how serious I thought I was at contending, but maybe I’m not as high on him as others
Chicken In Philly?
Has he built enough value to procure prospects yet? I say no.

The question about Corbin burnes and inferring his path to the H of F? I thiught was funny-Kinda ahead of the curve, like way to early to discussing that.

Mets or Giants? Where does the Polar Bear end up?
Samuel
Surprise…..
He goes back home to Florida.

Mets. Makes no sense for the Giants to sign Pete. Bryce Eldridge is on his way. No reason to block him, especially at the cost Alonso wants. (unless it’s a one or two year deal with an opt out after year one.)

Pete, Posey refused Burnes who wanted an opt out after 2. Clearly, he’s looking for players that will stay. And that’s what will kill an alonso deal. I feel the best hitter of the 3 top FA (Alonso, Santander and Bregman) is easily bregman AND he’s the best fielder. He just won a GG but it was at 3RD BASE!! I keep seeing he could play 2nd but I haven’t seen anything saying he’d take playing 2nd. I he was OK with 2nd base then CLEARLY they should get him. For many years, no opt outs. It’s the vets available that you’ll probably see get signed. Profar (3years and if I remember right Pete you’re not a fan of that). Turner or Rizzo. I’m not a fan of them. Scherzer one yesr to mentor. Trades maybe. Castillo
Alcantara. BUT no opt outs. “It is written” said Yul Brenner.

Mark P, Cleveland has Travis Bazanna, the 2024 overall #1 pick in the wings for 2B. They also have prospect Juan Brito coming off 21 home runs and 40 doubles at Triple A Columbus last season. I think both are inspiring to me.
letitbelowenstein
Stott, with 89, 100 and 93 K’s the past three seasons is a good contact hitter? This generation is certainly easy to please.
And Bobby Grich does not belong in the HOF. The Hall of Quite Good, yes. There are at least 20 other players far more deserving than Grich.
cubs2016
Mark is a joke. Answers about the same teams week after week. Not one Cubs related one this week. Last week there was 1. Garbage

Bring back the downvote.
You are forever entitled to your opinion.
Mark answers the q’s he gets and has admitted it is hard to scroll back when there are a lot of q’s coming in. While I have to assume your Q’s “may” be of the top 1% type, he may be answering a q faaaar below yours in content and thoughtfulness.
And unfortunately it just gets buried. Truly a loss…
Just chalk it up to bad luck goodsir and maybe one less cup of coffee?

Bregman to Detroit…. Would be a big waste of future money. Yes, it would be nice to have him at 3B, but there are other options in the organization. We all know what a Bregman deal is going to look like by year 4. I think they should be patient, or look for a trading partner. The Tigers are loaded with chips. To me, it makes more sense to fill the 3B vacancy via trade than through lengthy and expensive free agent deals. I’d rather have future flexibility because that marginal difference between Bregman and options we have in house is not worth $100-$150 million.
