Would Bohm for Bellinger make sense for both the cubs and Phillies?
pohle
ehhh, yes but no, the cubs would just be shopping paredes and then youre really just hoping for some sort of 3B carousel to play out in your favor. phils would be interested in bellinger, but im not sure they line up so well as a trade partner, especially since other teams would also have similar levels of interest in bellinger.
lemonlyman
No one has any interest in trading for bellinger and his front loaded 2 years with an opt out left.

…John Fisher suddenly sees a way to get his 2025 payroll up tp $100M and get the union off his back about Revenue Sharing.

If he stays for year 10, a deferrals schedule starts with years 1 through 3. How is the time travel aspect of that handled?
davidrocholl
deferrals can go wherever, the is no deferred money at all during the first 9 nine years!!!

Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Man that’s embarrassing about what the jokers at MLBN were proposing. Bellinger for Dominguez? Reynolds not knowing Gleyber is a free agent? Glad I’m not missing anything by never turning that channel on. How do they get away with being so ignorant when they are the network owned by MLB?? High school bloggers come up with better content than that!

MLB Network is really bad. Harold Reynolds is the worst,

Do.you really think Illich will spend and spend wisely?
Or will it all be for show, to augment sales?
By seeing the crowd so excited last year’s ending/finish….. he probably thinks he doesn’t have to. The fans are already maluable.
I’m betting one guy, for show. Let’s hope it’s not an anchor mega contract for a big name…. these contracts are merely advertising for the teams.

I noticed that they believe that two years of Bohm PLUS a prospect is necessary for a year of closer Devin Williams. If that is the case then hell no.
I don’t trade a quality position player even if only an average plus quality 3B even up for any relief pitcher except for Mariano. Two years of Bohm is too much even up in my eyes, and I don’t even love Alec as a 3B. Sometimes the silliness that surrounds trades makes me crazy, and I would hate it if we end up making that deal.
Relief pitchers are simply too inconsistent year to year and week to week for me to feel that they are worth crazy trade valuations, If you want to waste your money in free agency then it is just money but prospects and everyday ballplayers for that kind of risk makes zero sense to me.
