As the offseason nears, a number of players elect minor league free agency each week. These players are separate from six-year MLB free agents, who’ll reach the open market five days after the conclusion of the World Series. Eligible minor leaguers can begin electing free agency as soon as the regular season wraps up. These players were all outrighted off a team’s 40-man roster during the year and have the requisite service time and/or multiple career outrights necessary to reach free agency since they weren’t added back to teams’ rosters.
Electing free agency is the anticipated outcome for these players. There’ll surely be more to test the market in the coming weeks. We’ll offer periodic updates at MLBTR. These transactions are all reflected on the MiLB.com or MLB.com logs.

Alas, poor Aramis! I knew him, Garcia.
30% of the 2025 White Sox roster right there, guys.
I dunno, that might cost too much lol.
notable for all of them being unnotable
Combined these guys have about 3 ounces of upside, and my thumb is on the scale.
Toro posted a higher OPS+ than Rendon and an identical WAR per bb-ref.
Just to further illustrate just how horrible that contract is.
If it makes you feel better, Rendon’s horrible contract can be hidden by the fact that the Angels aren’t playing competitive baseball so it doesn’t stand out? That’s my half-glass full perspective I guess.
There’s always a silver lining ha ha.
Let the bidding wars begin!
I’d like the White Sox to take a flier on Toro and German. Those two stand a chance to be productive players next year, and just maybe good enough to be flipped at the trade deadline next year. Also, they’re going to be cheap, perfectly inline with Reinsdorf’s wallet.
No one would trade for German, even if he pitched like an ace. There was a reason why he never got the call up in Pittsburgh this year. The Pirates dealt with pitching injuries and the rotation saw a dozen or so different pitchers throughout the year. Not one of those pitchers were German. German maybe able to hang around the league (well, minors) and have a better chance of making it back to the majors than the likes of Bauer. But I wouldn’t hold my breath on either of the two.
All valid points, and I agree Trevor Bauer is definitely not happening but I can see German making it back. Aroldis Chapman is still around. Not saying it’s right, just it can vary player by player.
God I hope German never pitches in MLB again. Despicable human.
German pitched for the Pirates this year as they needed a starter because of injuries.
He had one good game out of about 6.
He was not the worst of the bunch though.
Jake Woodford was just as bad. Heller was worse. Bruihl was worse, Borucki is a bum also. I’m forgetting a few
