As the offseason nears, a number of players elect minor league free agency each week. These players are separate from six-year MLB free agents, who’ll reach the open market five days after the conclusion of the World Series. Eligible minor leaguers can begin electing free agency as soon as the regular season wraps up. These players were all outrighted off a team’s 40-man roster during the year and have the requisite service time and/or multiple career outrights necessary to reach free agency since they weren’t added back to teams’ rosters.
Electing free agency is the anticipated outcome for these players. There’ll surely be more to test the market in the coming weeks. We’ll offer periodic updates at MLBTR. These transactions are all reflected on the MiLB.com log.

No one would have a problem if this article was behind a paywall.

ummm what?
YankeesBleacherCreature
?
YourDreamGM
The yearly 30 team outlook series which has always been free is now behind a paywall for the $29.89 vip premium insider. Some people aren’t happy.
I have a solution though. Make it $29.99 like every other single company in the world other than mlbtr. Why are they leaving that 10 cents on the table?
YankeesBleacherCreature
So you’re upset that businesses have shifted to an ad-free, subscription model?? Heavens forbid that they try to increase revenue and make a profit. Fangraphs has recently moved to $60/yr btw.
YourDreamGM
I’m upset that our education system has failed you.
Not upset about businesses trying to increase revenue.
rct
Stop complaining. There are tons of free articles on this site. If you want to read the paywalled articles, the $2.50/month it costs to read them is very affordable.
Tim Regan
You’re complaining that it’s slightly cheaper?
YourDreamGM
You lost? I don’t see anyone here complaining. See some people who can’t read. But no complaining.
rct
Since everyone responding to you thinks you’re complaining, perhaps it’s not our reading skills but your inability to express your thoughts via the written word.
BaseballisLife
When you have to pay for things written by Nick Deeds it’s not worth it.
VinScullysSon
There it is…the guy who turns things political in a baseball chat. Congrats!
YourDreamGM
I wish that it was me who was the dum dum instead of everyone else. World would be better for it. Unfortunately that’s not the case.
“No one would have a problem if this article was behind a paywall.” I would have said I wouldn’t have a problem if this was behind a paywall if I was complaining.
“Some people aren’t happy” If I was wasn’t happy I would have said I’m not happy.
I sad thing is everyone but Yankees commented after I said this.
“Not upset about businesses trying to increase revenue.”
Yet you continue to comment and have 10 thumbs up. As you should. Because I have failed. And I won’t be trying again. I don’t know how I can say that I am “not upset” that would be any more clear than “not upset”
joew
Just to toss my hat in to back up your statement. I’m not happy about it. But it is what it is. They are trying to run a business and ad revenue is crap when people are able to block them. Most of the time.
Judgeing from their stories in the past, it’s not worth the couple bucks for what they currently charge for. I do like the transaction posts though.
JoeBrady
My two cents is that you can subscribe or not subscribe. But complaining about not subscribing is not really an option for me.
I subscribe to FG but not to MLB-R. If I miss something, then so be it.

There he is mlb traderumors maganut
Claydagoat
Are you gonna be ok bro?
We’re trying to talk baseball .
NYCityRiddler
There’s not a winner in the bunch. Ahahaha!
spirit of truth
Hahaha Right….this is quite the list.
NYCityRiddler
Dear Lord, now how will we find out about our favorite team!? Ahahaha!
Swan Gaust
Which current MLB teams could this roster beat? I guess you’d have to assume Calhoun plays OF with Pache in CF.
sad tormented neglected mariners fan
Only the white Sox would lose to this team
Rsox
The White Sox for sure, probably the Angels and Marlins too
HalosHeavenJJ
The Angels of the last month or so definitely lose to this team.
sad tormented neglected mariners fan
All it would take would be a good cole Irvin start and a Calhoun home run
ontario_dave
Well considering the Marlins just swept the Jays pretty handily, you mights as well add the Jays with their current roster to the list.
wileycoyote56
White Sox would be first, possibly Colorado, Miami and Angels. Basically their roster you’re looking at
TradeAcuna
Braves should consider making every player other than Sale, SS, and SS a free agent after they lose tomorrow.
chiefnocahoma1
You really don’t have anything else to do, do you?
BigV
Can these players start signing with teams right away or do they have to wait til after the World Series?
YankeesBleacherCreature
They can sign minor league deals at any time.
Benjamin101677
They can sign just not allowed to do a contract during the World Series or major trades take away from the World Series spot light. Although most free agents that have filed so far are not big names. Also why wouldn’t they wait until the post season was over before signing. Why sign with like the angels and find out the padres would have had interest.
HalosHeavenJJ
Thairo Estrada looks like a good gamble.
Only 28, versatile, three consecutive years above average with the bat from 21-23.
BigV
I agree
cthunder
I was hoping he would want to comeback to the Giants now that Psoey is in charge.
draker
Best player on the list for sure.
Can we please get a DH?
As an M’s fan, he is definitely an interesting target as a stop gap at 2B while we wait for our IF prospect group to ascend. We haven’t gotten offense out of 2B since Cano, so why not just run a gold glover there instead for a change.
2B is unusually deep as a FA/trade class this year too: Kim, Torres, Polanco, and Estrada as FAs, Lowe and India being likely on the trade market and possibly players like Donovan and Hoerner also on the block.
HalosHeavenJJ
Good call. Angels also need depth. Rengifo is probably penciled in at second but we all know Rendon won’t play much third.
UKPhil
Best of luck to the guys who played for the Marlins. I hope Ali Sanchez, in particular gets opportunities to pursue the dream.
bag o ballz
Dang like a quarter of these guys are Giants or former Giants
atuck_sfg
Well Farhan was out there playing fantasy baseball with that team, adding and dropping guys like crazy, so it’s no surprise
Karensjer
Someone hurry up and sign Alex Jackson before the Rays try to keep him and his horrible batting average!!!
User 4245925809
Might sound strange, but pitching? certain organizations would seem to look for where a player has spent time are, same as for offense.
That said? Mariner and Rays pitching? Take a hard look and see if can find a gem there, but pass on most bats been in those organizations. Both have been pretty good at *1* thing lately and hitting not among them. Geno Suarez post AS break was nice, but don’t count on many guys who have played at those 2 places to be known for offense.
stymeedone
I think just the oppoaite. Pitchers let go by teams known for pitching are likely to be marginal at best. But if let go by a team not known for pitching, there might be undeveloped talent that can be honed and refined. Same for hitters coming from teams not known for hitting. If the tools are there, an organization known for hitting, may still develop it.
Comet
Stupid question, but do all players get paid extra if they are in the post season since they are “working overtime”?
Stlhomers
investopedia.com/financial-edge/0611/playoff-perks….
explains it better than me, look at the MLB section.
draker
Yes they do and it’s pretty good money that goes up with each round they advance. For a guy making the minimum advancing to the World Series can double their income for the year.
YankeesBleacherCreature
Not stated in the link is that players traditionally also pool together money to give bonuses to clubhouse support personnel.
Non Roster Invitee
Players used get a % of the player’s pool money for finishing third in their division.
I think the Diamondbacks get some $ from the pool this year.
andyger63
Who?
Sk8
That’s a list of hot garbage. Atkins/Shapiro will be all over that.
JoeBrady
I’d like to have held onto McGuire for on more year to bridge the gap to Teel.
deweybelongsinthehall
Me too Joe. I’m hoping he re-signs as Wong definitely sputtered the second half. To me, the team needed a bigger righty bats at the deadline than Jansen.
Uncle Pedro’s Dancing Kittens
The whole dumping him for Jansen never made sense. McGuire was far from perfect but Jansen ended up being worse. I know they couldn’t predict how bad he would be but McGuire had some solid moments.
D Backs GM
I don’t do any pay sights anywhere. There is plenty of free stuff on Internet. They all go under a fool and their money was lucky to get together in the first place!
JoeBrady
And this goes under “I have the money, so I subscribe to certain things”. It was an unusual year for me, but my rotisserie winnings more than covered my article subscriptions.
The McNasty1
Would take Jordan Montgomery over anyone in this lot.
Claydagoat
Apparently you took a year off from watching baseball . What do you like better, the 6.32 ERA, or the 1.65 WHIP?
bravesfan
It’s crazy to look at this list and see names that use to be high on teams prospect list and now look at them…
