Looks like I’m cancelled among the commenters on this website. Yippee!
You little people need me to be a BAD person more than you need to be a GOOD person, so you’re always using ME as a SCAPEGOAT to project YOUR insecurities onto
At all hours of the day, you keep telling yourselves “Oh FletcherFan is such a bad guy, that makes me a good person.” And yet, none of you can seal away the things that make you ashamed

Listen here, kid, we didn’t have time to be bellyachin’ about folks not likin’ us. We were too busy tryin’ to put food on the table, not worryin’ ’bout who said what. You wanna find out who your ‘true friends’ are? Go chop some wood with ’em, see who sticks around!
Gwynning
You tell ‘im, Yorkie! But first, you two GET OFF MY LAWNNN!

@Gwynning
I’m having a good feeling for the Padres this year. I think they’ll be heading to the WS and possibly win it all.
Gwynning
Everything was aligning… until you just jinxed us. Thanks.

@Gwynning
I’ve been saying they would be in the WS since spring training.
Gwynning
Yes, you’ve been a strong proponent for them for awhile. I recall seeing your posts regarding the matter! The force is strong with this squad, but us forlorn Pads fans know not to get too excited ahead of time… cheers Y

Who is this Fletcher guy. Never seen his comments.
Gwynning
Consider yourself lucky, Dave-o!

1:41 Lively add there by Cleveland. Kudos. Orioles have their own version of Lively in Suarez. Kudos.

With the Giants’ recent move of ownership negotiating over the head of Farhan Zaidi, and given the history of other successful teams taking an active ownership role in player negotiations, how does this reflect on Zaidi’s leadership and decision-making process, and what could be the long-term impact on the team’s front office stability and organizational culture?
bag o ballz
so it looks like that story was made up by the athletic. Boras and the front office denied that any of it happened.

According to Spotrac Bellingers salary for 2026 is 25 million with a 2.5 million dollar buyout, If I read it right. But he can still be moved I bet even if the Cubs need to eat 5 million to save 22.5 million. It’s not the preferred way to go but the Cubs shouldn’t have any other major salaries to eat providing Hoyer doesn’t do anything stupid in the meantime.

I’m puzzled by the uncertainty about Os ownership’s willingness to spend. They took on the Eflin, Soto, Dominguez and Jimenez contracts, which were non trivial.

I hope Bellinger opts out. I love him. He grew on me. Really fast last winter when he first signed with the cubs. If he opts out. It gives Owen Caissie a chance to shine on the big league level. The problem is Craig Counsell seems to be very ignorant on who he likes to play and not play. Like how he will bench Michael Busch in favor of Patrick Wisdom vs. Lefies. Even though Busch has better numbers vs. Lefties. He seems to refuse to use Luis Vazquez when Paredes was shuffling little bit.

“I don’t know if the Guardians will straight NT Lane Thomas, but I could see them trying to move him rather than pay his arb price after the struggles he’s had in Cleveland.”
–
Actually, since Thomas initially struggled when coming to the Guardians, he’s been one of the most successful hitters in MLB
since September 1. I believe I heard on a broadcast that he leads
MLB in RBI since then.
Samuel
Thomas is batting .307 over his last 23 games.

Steve, I have to respectfully disagree about Alonso. He would be crazy to turn down a qualifying offer. I think teams are getting smarter. The market for RH, 1B-only players over 30 is going away. It is the most extreme example of “what have you done lately”. Too many teams have seen these contracts go bad.
Samuel
Pete Alonso is one of the most intense, competitive players I’ve seen in MLB since he first made the Mets ML roster. In fact, he spoke up at a team meeting the other day to encourage his teammates to push for a playoff spot in spite of the fact that Lindor is out…for whatever time. Always has been a team leader.
That said, his fielding at 1B still hurts the team. He continues to get his RBI’s, but his overall production seems to be slowly slipping.
I can see the Mets letting him go, but I’m not sure who would take him on at a Boras sky-high salary. Mr. Boras has depended on finding desperate FO heads / owners for his name clients when negotiating FA salaries. He ran out of mindless suckers last off-season. Of the usual suspects, I’d guess Giants/Zaidi come to mind first. Cubs and Mariners are long-shots. And of course, the Rockies owner does stupid things like this.
Chicken In Philly?
Non-tender Lane Thomas? Cleveland always seems to struggle to find outfielders, and now they have a productive one who, albeit, got off to a rough start (platooning him likely caused an adjustment), but he has been absolute fire lately when they need him most, and he’s affordable for a small market team. I’m shocked I just read that.
This one belongs to the Reds
Steve, no way the Reds are non-tendering Espinal. He’s been one of their better hitters this season.
