3:06 Agree Steve. Don’t think Detriot is interested in moving Skubal.
That said, I don’t think every team is “salivating” to get him. Because of injuries, he only threw 80 innings last year and the year before was abbreviated as well. Like the Chi Sox are doing with Crochet and A’s with Miller, he’s gotta be on an innings restrictions plan. Yes? No? Maybe?

Oriole fans sure overvalue some of their prospects. Seattle would easily say no to the Miller trade.

Hockey – as a rule, I’d say every baseball fan can be guilty of overvaluing their teams prospects.
It’s almost just the way it is. Most fans will only be knowledgeable about their own teams prospects for the most part so for another team’s fans to not consider them as highly seems natural.

I agree, Long time. Seeing the battle here and on X between Baltimore and Detroit fans over possible Skubal trades is crazy. I am always glad when the deadline passes.

Yeah having it over is a relief but depending on where your team is sitting, it can have its excitement factor.
Detroit fans could dream of the best prospect package ever or could hope they keep their guy.
Who gets Crochet and how much of an overpay for a guy they might not get to use much the rest of the year – but have an ace for 25/26.
I’m a Padres guy and we have 3-4 really top prospects but have a need at mlb level for a SP and an 8th guy (and don’t get me started on the roller coaster ride of the past 5-6 deadlines)!
It’s fun for what it is is my thought.
For me, I get frustrated with the guys that are all about “won the trade” or “lost that trade” when it takes years to see how prospects play out. They didn’t win the WS so they lost that trade guys ate the worst!

“They didn’t win the WS so they lost that trade guys ate the worst!”
or… guys ate the wurst. Happens in German futbol transfers all the time.
Fever Pitch Guy
Long – You are 100% correct. Another reason fans fall in love with their team’s prospects is because their team is constantly hyping their prospects. Part of it is bias, another part is trying to elevate the players’ value. That’s one reason why the Yankees always seem to have a lot of top prospects available for trade, because they have a much bigger spotlight to shine on their minor leaguers. But those prospects hardly ever pan out after they are traded.
