On the MLB Trade Rumors podcast, we’ll frequently answer questions from our readers and listeners. With the next episode set for Wednesday, we’re looking for MLBTR’s audience to submit their questions and we’ll pick a few to answer.
MLBTR will be publishing the first edition of our Free Agent Power Rankings for the 2024-25 offseason this week. If you have a question about that or the ongoing 2024 season or anything else related to baseball, we’d love to hear from you! You can send your questions to mlbtrpod@gmail.com.
Also, if you want to hear your voice on the podcast, send us your question in audio form and we might play it. iPhone users can find instructions on how to do so here.
In the meantime, don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

I just sent an email about this. Not a question but more like sad news. Ken Holzman has passed a away at the age of 78.
Didn’t see ah article on this yet.
Fever Pitch Guy
Log – It’s Holtzman, and the news just broke about two hours ago.
Please give the MLBTR staff some time, they will come up with a nice tribute. Quality over speed.
RIP Mr. Holtzman, thoughts and prayers to your loved ones.

Thanks for the correction. I didn’t realize I misspelled his name.
Fever Pitch Guy
Log – You’re welcome and no worries.
Normally I don’t bother pointing something like that out, but with an obituary announcement I feel the deceased is worthy of having his name spelled right.
Manfred’s playing with the balls
The whole pitcher injury thing is crazy to me. People who are suggesting pitchers throw softer don’t seem to have a solution based in reality. Teams aren’t going to tell guys to pitcher slower to Bryce Harper in the 9th.
MLB should expand rosters to compensate for the modern game. This isn’t even a new trend, this is the way baseball has been going for over a 100 years. The only reason baseball is fighting this is to stick it to the union and keep costs down. But losing multi million dollar pitchers ends up costing them way more.
Isn’t this a bizarre and silly situation?
Manfred’s playing with the balls
Related to last question, do you guys think increasing minor league roster size for non luxury tax payers would be a good way of increasing competitive balance?
The smaller markets need to find more ways to produce homegrown talent and the organizational roster shrinking and loss of minor league teams the last 5 years has made that more difficult.

What are the Red Sox options at SS for the rest of the season? Mayer needs a full season in AA/AAA, the current 4A contingent isn’t gonna cut it. Any trade options that make sense?
