Has anyone seen the Jomboy video of the Mets not sliding? Feel like that should’ve been bigger news than it was
Gwynning
Squirrel calling Rhys “the dirtiest player alive” is richer than all Owners combined.

Hoskins slide was clean even by today’s watered down standards.
He came in hard, slide directly over the bag and even maintained contact on the bag. McNeil should be mad at his third baseman for hanging him out to dry.
Gwynning
Holliday never touched home!! Game 163s were the best, now to rewatch that Twins/Tigers duel…

My personal opinion about the pitching injuries is that teams should adopt a six man rotation.
Also, running MRIs before a guy injures himself makes sense to me as a precautionary measure. Having a “book” so to speak, a game by game, week by week, reference could reduce the risk of a significant injury and prolonged time off right? Even if it doesn’t help immediately it could eventually give doctors a road map in the future.
Lastly, I think a tacky ball like in Nippon league should eventually become a reality and do away with rosin.

Ohtani was in a six man rotation for all of his years here and he had TJS and so did a couple of other Angels.

@Sid
The argument for a 6 man rotation isn’t that it would eliminate pitcher injuries. It’s that it would decrease injuries. We cant be certain how many TJS Ohtani might have if he pitched every 5 days, but I wouldn’t expect him to hold up better under an even heavier workload.
Fever Pitch Guy
Manfred – The injuries were NEVER a result of SP’s making 32 starts and pitching 200 innings..
If it was, there would have been a lot more injuries prior to 2010.

Verlander the other day echoed what I’ve been saying all along, hitters are too good.
Verlander said back in 2016 he had to change his approach to pitching, the notion of pitching to contact and induce weak contact flew out the window, he had to attack every hitter the same and try to strike them out. Hitters focused on slugging vs slap hitting, had too much access to advanced analytics, when in the past he could take the foot off the gas with the 7/8/9 hole hitters, now he cannot because now the 9 hole hitter has oppo power.
It’s the new age of baseball, guys really are too talented and have too much information and are too strong for the old school mentality of baseball.

It’s time for MLBTR to give up on Adams’ chats. They’re usually half as long as Polishuk’s while being much less interesting and personable.
truthlemonade
Ouch. I think that the chats are intended to be one hour long. The fact that some writers routinely have two hour chats does not mean that everyone has to.
User 4095290658
I think it’s very clear that the chats are a chore for Steve while Mark really likes his interaction with the unwashed masses.
Manfred’s playing with the balls
Mark’s chats are great. I wish Darragh did more too. I think the chats are still fresh for new writers so they’re not as boring for them ca the longer tenured writers. It probably gets old sifting through similar questions all the time.
User 4095290658
Exactly this. My comment was an observation more than a criticism.
Steinbrenner2728
I think saying MLBTR should “give up” on Steve and saying that Steve is less interesting and personable than Mark is more of a criticism than just an observation.
Brew’88
Mark P. is the most engaging I agree, but I differ on your opinion about Adam’s chats being less interesting. From a baseball perspective, Adam’s is highly informed, and I appreciate that attribute more than the charismatic aspects. But both do a really well in what is a difficult task.

Terrier,
You could just not read them instead of recommending their cancellation.

I think that only desperate free agents will sign with Sacramento.
The stadium seems destined to be the least comfortable facility in the majors.
The city is small and not very exciting while also being super hot in the summer.
Sacramento will have to massively overpay to attract free agents. They might be able to sign guys to very long contracts, but they will have to endure 1-2 years in Sacramento.
Gwynning
You’re not wrong on any level, TL… but I can’t envision Sac Town overpaying for anybody or anything. Fisher’s MO has been outed.

For the person who asked about the Guardians. Either Ben Lively or Xzavion Curry will replace Shane Bieber in the rotation. Both pitchers are rehabing at AAA Columbus after being ill during spring training. Lively had 19 appearances last season including 12 starts with the Cincinnati Reds while Curry made 41 appearances including 9 starts for the Guardians. Curry had some success last season while pitching out of the bullpen.

“the starting pitcher tree they have hidden underground at Progressive Field.”
Wouldn’t an underground tree die? It needs sunlight!
