His firing is already long overdue. Great regular season manager but can’t produce the team endurance to last in the playoffs after a 162-game season.
Tigersfan82
From the results of last season’s playoffs all of the managers from good regular season teams would get the axe if we use your logic,Playoffs are a joke letting teams who finished 16 games behind make it,Before postseason became a total joke d’backs and rangers wouldn’t of even qualified.you play 162 to then have a joke of a postseason,

Why did the MLB rob Spencer Strider of the 2023 NL Cy Young? Way too many ‘old stats’ guys focused on ERA still.
Canuckleball
Snell 6.0 WAR, ERA+ 182, 115 hits and 15 hrs in 180 IP
Strider 3.4 WAR, ERA+ 115, 146 hits and 22 hrs in 186.2 IP
Any number of new and old age stats that liked Snell. Strider was good too, but Snell was a perfectly reasonable pick and no robbery was committed
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Love that miniscule HR given up by Snell. Allows him to get away with all the walks. Undervalued, I think.
Brew’88
Snell was alone in Tier 1, by modern or old school metrics.

@Brew’88 & Canuckleball
No way. Bunch of nonsense…
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Old York tell us your reasons for choosing Strider over Snell.

@Ignorant Son-of-a-b
I’ve said it numerous times in the past on here but I’ll add some more fuel to my argument.
First, I’ll use a stat that is accepted on here, being xERA, which takes into account what he can actually control as a pitcher. It sat at 3.79, meaning he pitched worse than his actual ERA showed. Secondly, I’ll add in the Forecasted Run Average ((FRA), which was close to the xERA. The FRA was 3.91. In terms of the Cy Young being awarded to the actual pitcher and what he can control, an almost 4+ ERA is pretty terrible. His K-BB% (31.5 – 13.3) of 18.2 was pretty low compared to Strider, who had a K-BB% of 29.2.
For Strider, his xERA was 3.09 and FRA was 3.10.
Overall, Strider had a much better season in terms of what the pitcher can control.

I’ve always wondered why players don’t get into umpiring after retirement.
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Usually because they are sick and tired of the game and the pay is way less, and all the travel. Naw.

What will the Orioles do with all their infield prospects?
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Let them rot in AAA or on the bench. The one guy they have no excuse but to trade is Basalo since he is a catcher blocked by Rutshsmann. What they should do is make room for a couple by moving on from Mountcastle and Satander.
Zippy the Pinhead
Snuffy, The best answer would be to trade one to the Mariners along with a low level P like Nuñez for any major league starter not named Kirby, Gilbert, or Castillo (that’s Miller, DeSclafani, Woo, Hancock, Dollard, etc.)
