AA’s talent has been not only extending said talent, but most importantly, identifying the talent and not using much as trade bait to do an overhaul that would have more of his fingerprints over it. He’s not undefeated, but close to it with trades, signings & extending core pieces.
Take in mind, when AA started, AA has sever penalties that took away 13 prospects from their farm, while limiting activity in the international FA market for years, and even the amateur draft. He didn’t have those areas to restock the farm and build on the depth.
Maybe the Nats are a fit for Belli? GM Rizzo goes multi year deal. Belli is a name for sure. Next couple of years, Belli helps fill seats as Rizzo continues the rebuild.
Gilbert is an excellent pitcher but I think Mariners fans still way overvalue him. They will be awfully upset when the M’s trade him in a couple of years because they won’t pay him
