Over/under 1.5 on bees/beeds or additional nonsense questions? I’d say over
gbs42
Yep, 30 seconds of silliness is completely inexcusable. Baseball should never be fun.
vtadave
This bees/beads thing isn’t fun. Just dumb and distracting.
PhanaticDuck26
you just spent more time complaining about it than he spent mentioning it
LordD99
I don’t understand why it’s even a thing.
alwaysgo4two
Well…..it seems to get the comment posted. Not fun, no longer original, let’s bury it. I’m on this app for baseball info, not word games. Seems that I’m not alone.
dixoncayne
How is that fun?
gbs42
Fun, light-hearted, silly, goofy, whatever. People who think every question and answer must be serious are taking this far too seriously.
As I’ve said before, go read a FanGraphs chat some time. They talk about cats, board games, food, and other occasional diversions, and I don’t see comments about how it’s such a waste of time.
Lighten up, folks.
jorge78
Only one mention.
You lost…..
bergeraj
I’d bet you are wrong, only 1 was answered but im sure way more were in the queue!
holycow16
When do we think the Cubs will make a move?
Fever Pitch Guy
Cow – They will never move, Wrigley Forever!
reith61
Cubs should make 1 big push for Bellinger. They probably won’t, but they should.
Joe Kerr
Yes, the Cubs should give a 200+ million contract to a guy with 1 good season in his last 4.
reith61
Yeah, it’s definitely a risky move. But you know what they say, no risk no reward.
drasco036
Let’s see how well you play recovering from a torn labrum and a broken rib.
I lean more towards Boars’ assessment that Bellinger simply was not healthy. I tore my rotator cuff last year and it took a solid year to get back to about 80%.
Also, as any Cub fan saw first hand and should know quite well, shoulder injuries sap power and take a long time to get back from (Aramis Ramirez, Kris Bryant).
The Cubs have Dustin Kelly as their hitting coach, the guy that the Dodgers had as their hitting coach when Bellinger was putting up MVP numbers.
So I’m of the opinion, the Cubs should re-sign Bellinger and 200+ million is not unreasonable, especially over the course of a 10 year contract.
Unless there is something lurking under the surface with Bellie, the Cubs had him for a year, saw the make up and type of personality he has.
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Maybe the Cubs should just sign Chapman for 3rd. His future output might be more predictable than Belli’s.
Rsox
In reality they could sign both as they have a need at both 3B and CF

What moove would cow like to see made?

Nobody in the cleveland media has the guts or testicles to ask Paul dolan when David blister and Matt kauling are taking over majority ownership. Blister group owns 35 percent of the guardians as of right now.
MadThinker
IIRC At the time David B & his group bought in it was communicated that the minority group would have a path to majority ownership after 5 years. That means we still have multiple years where the Dolans still have the majority ownership..

Sir, this is a MLBTR chat.

I talk to myself frequently…

To all Toronto fans and those of other teams. Jose Ramirez has a no trade clause and is not available. It makes no sense for Cleveland to trade him. Cleveland’s payroll is expected to remain at 2023 levels so no huge cuts are expected. Jose Ramirez is and will remain a Cleveland Guardian.
Jays nut, Toronto does not have the package that would convince Cleveland anyway if he were available..
LordD99
I agree that Ramirez is not being traded, although no-trade clauses rarely stop trades, especially when there are many years left on a deal. Once a player knows a team wants to move him, they usually come to an agreement. It’s about the player having a say into when and where he’s traded.
Best Screenname Ever
They apparently don’t remember that he took a 50 cents on the dollar contract so he could NOT sign with Toronto, or else they didn’t understand what that meant. And as part of the deal got a no-trade clause so that he could NOT be traded to Toronto. But now that he’s given up all that money, they think he’s going to accept a trade to Toronto anyway. Goofy.
LordD99
I seem to remember they were about to pull the trigger to trade him to the Padres, which led him to accept his current deal. No matter. The Blue Jays had to be having conversations too.
PutPeteinthehall
He will retire there. He’s the rare player that is focused on the game rather than the dollars.
THEY LIVE!!!
Ramirez is the rare player not represented by a decent agent. He may very well retire as a Cleveland Indian/Guardian …
deGrom/Langford Texas Ranger
Texas better not stand pat after wasting most of their cap space this offseason on a TJS guy at 11 MM. They shpuld have spent it on relievers. This is blowing the contention window. Now, so many people act like Ohtani the only guy who can increase merchandise sales and help the club with endorsement $. Virtually every big free agent probably has those. How much higher is his off-field $ value than that of Judge/Acuna/Soto?
gbs42
There’s no such thing as as “cap space” in baseball because there’s no salary cap.
deGrom/Langford Texas Ranger
Whatever you call the soft cap threshold
gbs42
Competitive Balance Tax (CBT) or luxury tax
Zippy the Pinhead
It’s as if the Mariners ownership is oblivious to the fact that the only moment a team is profitable is when it’s sold. A cheap imitation of a Major League franchise.
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
They are not that simple-minded and naive about budgets and profit. They didn’t become billionaires (or whatever) because they are inept with money.
DonOsbourne
I’m surprised there aren’t more angry White Sox fans in this comment section. That’s still a pretty bold prediction all things considered.
jorge78
They’ve all given up?
PutPeteinthehall
Unfortunately most White Sox fans including myself have zero expectations of the 2024 team. Time for Uncle Jerry to sell. There needs to be a total house cleaning. Roster, management, and ownership. With Reinsdorf being the owner it’s going to be the SOS until he’s gone.

8:49; add Stowers, who is also blocked, to Basallo and Mayo and the Os get a Cease!
CurtBlefary
I don’t see where both Basallo and Mayo are blocked. They both could eventually split time at 1B and DH. Secondly, I don’t see the O’s giving up both for two years of Cease.
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Cannot get enough of that Bee’s/Bead’s thing, I am literally rolling on the floor everytime it pop’s up in a chat. I fell out of my desk chair…My wife is looking at me, my sides are hurting, laughing so hard I can’t breathe, dog is licking my face. She asked me “Is it the Bee’s/Bead’s joke again, dear?” She knows me too well. I can’t wait for next chat.
Angels & NL West
11 combined years of Thomas and Pfaadt for two years of Cease? I must be missing something. Do I have the years completely wrong?
Rsox
That’s called “White Sox fans wishful thinking”
Jean Matrac
If it was just about years of control, then no.
just_thinkin
It’s pretty laughable that Mark insinuates that Basallo + Mayo is not enough for Cease. Like… that’s ridiculous my guy. It’s a vast overpay. There’s no way the Orioles would include two of their top 3 prospects for Cease.
