Trevor Bauer’s representation at Luba Sports is meeting with MLB teams in an effort to find him a major league landing spot, tweets Jon Heyman of the New York Post. It isn’t clear which clubs, if any, have reciprocated interest in the right-hander.
Bauer has not pitched in MLB since June 2021, when an allegation of sexual assault was first publicly reported. Three additional women went public with sexual assault allegations over the next two years. Bauer was never criminally charged, with the L.A. District Attorney’s Office declining to proceed after an investigation into the first woman’s allegations. “After a thorough review of the available evidence, including the civil restraining order proceedings, witness statements and the physical evidence, the People are unable to prove the relevant charges beyond a reasonable doubt,” prosecutors said at the time.
MLB nevertheless leveled a 324-game suspension under the joint domestic violence/sexual assault policy with the Players Association. Last December, an arbitrator reduced that figure to 194 games — immediately reinstating Bauer onto the Dodgers’ roster based on the amount of time he had already spent on administrative leave while the investigations played out.
That reduced suspension remains the most significant domestic violence discipline since the policy was introduced in 2015. The Dodgers released Bauer two weeks after the appellate results were announced. In mid-March, he signed a one-year, $4MM contract with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. In October, the civil actions between Bauer and the woman who first brought the allegations were settled outside of court (link via Alden González of ESPN).
Bauer had a successful age-32 campaign in NPB. He posted a 2.76 ERA through 130 2/3 innings while striking out 24.3% of opposing hitters. With that one-year deal complete, he is again a free agent.
Catuli Carl
Justice for Trev. Bring him back.
roob
There is zero chance that he plays MLB this year. No clubhouse wants the guy. Players hated him before these accusations came out. He has always been a total a hole.
Secondly, no team wants to lose at least half of their attendance and have constant protests all year long.
Imagine the worst booing and anger toward any player you’ve ever seen and multiply that times 100 and that’s what every game would be like for that guy.
There’s so many reasons to list why no team is going to sign him not to mention the fact that he’s just not that great a pitcher.

But how many in today’s world? It’s totally different today in that social media allows for the immediate spread of information (and mis-infotmation).

As always when these virtue signaling dullards get to chirping it always boils down to the post-modern oppressor vs. victim narrative. In this case the person in the role of victim (punishment not fitting the evidence) isn’t the correct gender, sexuality, or race/ethnicity. Cis white male is guilty upon crime of birth, Comrade…unless you bow down to the goals of the post-modern agenda.
Catuli Carl
@Jagsmanohman Spot on.

“Justify?”
In the police report, the alleged victim admitted that is was her that broached the subject of being rough during intimacy. Also in the report were the text messages that revealed her intentions to get Bauer’s money was pre-meditated, even BEFORE the relationship started, BEFORE her and Bauer met, when the interactions were confined to social media and texts.
It was part of her plan and her AA sponsor even knew about it, but did nothing to dissuade her.
stymeedone
Again, an arbitrator, who heard both sides (we haven’t), said MLB was justified in giving Bauer the LONGEST suspension in history, just not as long as they wanted. He agreed to settle out of court with his victim, rather than fight for his reputation and declare his innocence. Since he won’t, why do you bother.

He paid no money to Lindsey Hill—evidently the world “settling” means a monetary payment to you and a lot of other people. Wrong.
Bauer sued her so he could have the evidence against her and release it to the public. That’s what he did. He wasn’t suing Lindsey Hill for defamation so he could get money out of her. She doesn’t have any real money. He wanted to the public to have the info to expose her.

Among the many former major league players that have done far worse is Sergio Mitre, who was a terrible pitcher but managed to find a way to be an even worse person. Femicide is broadly defined as the k*ll*ng of a woman or girl because of her gender, and can take different forms, such as the m*rd*r of women as a result of intimate partner violence; the torture and misogynist slaying of women; k*ll*ng of women and girls in the name of “honour”; etc.

He didn’t pay a single dime. If you watch the video he put out it explains why he settled. What he settled for was for her lawsuit to be dropped and for his right to talk about the case publicly and to be allowed to show the public the evidence. Why would the accuser agree to that if he was guilty? The video shows her in bed next to him the next morning while he is still asleep with her smiling and no marks on her.
I’m not going to pretend I know exactly what happened, but that is compelling enough for me to believe it is at least possible he is innocent. Saying he is guilty without having any evidence to the contrary beyond unproven hearsay seems unfair.

BaseballGuy1
You have no idea what really happened. Too many came forward with too many parallels to simply ignore and accept his behavior.
mp2891
LOL. Is Catuli Carl an alias for Trevor Bauer? Lets be real here. Bauer sued the girl he “allegedly” assaulted, spent a year combing through all the discovery materials he could he get his hands on until he found something that would convince fanboys around the world of his innocence, and then he dismissed the lawsuit he himself filed and showed the world the “smoking gun” evidence that paints him in the best light possible. If his case was the slam-dunk he wants people to think it was, he wouldn’t have dismissed the case. He would have proceeded to trial to get a verdict in his favor.. Of course, that would have required an impartial judge/jury to hear both sides of the case and determine who was the most believable. Bauer hasn’t “conclusively proved” anything, and even if he has, there is just soooooo much other baggage with this guy. You’re crazy if you think he’s ever going to pitch in the Majors again.
fljay73
In regards to the woman who was at the center of all of this. She was on video stating she was a willing participant in all of it.
astros_fan_84
I watched Bauer’s video on the matter. He had clear evidence, text messages and video, and I’ve heard nothing to suggest this was fabricated.
redsoxu571
If you’ve ever wanted to see what an intentionally misleading argument looks like, look to mp2891’s comment above.
I have never much cared for Bauer and I agree that at this stage the response that would come with a team adding him would probably be more trouble than he’s worth – but to paint him as someone who was groping for the tiniest excuse to be able to drop his lawsuit and claim innocence is badly misleading.
In *reality*, he and the alleged victim had each sued each other. Her suit could do one or both of further damaging his reputation and drawing huge money in damages; his suit, even if successful, would have likely brought him minimal monetary recompense and just as likely would have net cost him a lot of money.
Certainly, the goal of his suit was to eventually lead to the dismissal of he alleged victim’s suit, which was the final remaining legal action against him. Once the proceedings reached the point that the alleged victim would drop her suit *without her receiving any money or admission of wrongdoing as part of the settlement*, his suit had served its purpose.
Anyone with a basic understanding of America civil lawsuits knows that many entities, especially large corporations, will accept even settlements in which they pay out something as long as it dismisses a suit, not because the suit has a strong case (very often the case is weak or even pretty obviously bogus) but simply because the cost of winning the case is expected to be higher than what the other party is willing to settle for. Settlement does not remotely imply guilt, unless the settlement includes some form of explicit admission.
The alleged victim dropping her suit does not *prove* Bauer innocent, but between the lack of criminal chargers and the dropped civil suit and the seeming evidence that the public has been shown it is beyond any reasonable doubt that it would be radically unjust to push that Bauer should still be seen as guilty. And it wouldn’t be unreasonable to see him as a victim here, though that is not proved either.
I know there are plenty of people who don’t mind to commit such radical injustice or are even proud of it, but that doesn’t make it a valid perspective. Bauer probably put himself in a bad situation and we’ll never know the full truth, but at this point, absent further information, attempts to judge him should be put aside. Whether that means MLB teams should or will want to bother with him is another matter.
can-of-corn
He probably dismissed the case because he knew the amount of money he would spend in legal fees would be more than the amount of money he would (never) receive because that woman has no money, she’s just a troll/ scam artist looking for a free meal ticket. This wasn’t her first time sleeping with an mlb player, trying to swindle money. Just watch the video, she recorded, the morning after. No marks on her face whatsoever.
deweybelongsinthehall
Then why was the suspension not vacated?
explodet
It was. It was immediately ended via arbitrator decision. Unless you’re asking why the suspension wasn’t retroactively overturned. The answer to which, of course, is that time machines don’t exist.

mp2891
Redsoxu571 – I appreciate the thoughtful reply, but you’re making some assumptions that aren’t correct. I never suggested Bauer was “groping for the tiniest excuse to be able to drop his lawsuit and claim innocence.” Rather, I’m saying that the video alone is not enough to prove his innocence. It appears pretty damning on its face, but that doesn’t mean he would have prevailed in a trial where all the evidence and testimony was put forth.
Settling the case and posting the video is a master’s class in gamesmanship. You only need to read the comments in this article to see that many are now convinced of his innocence. Bauer gets others to take his side and profess his innocence, and he doesn’t have to risk court proceedings, which were HIGH risk, low reward for him after the video was posted.
Everything you say about lawsuits is largely correct, but I doubt Bauer was all that worried about potential liabilities since he filed the original suit and he would have expected her to countersue. We’ll never know if she was going to file a lawsuit herself since he filed his lawsuit first and her plan to get leverage with the restraining order failed so spectacularly. Reasonable minds may disagree, but her willingness to settle on the terms she did suggests she wasn’t interested in pursuing a case against him. So I come back to my original view – The play here was to gain some evidence that would paint him in the best light and potentially get him back into Major League baseball. Time will tell if it worked.
Hexbreaker

jerh2
I’m no legal expert and I am not totally familiar with this case, but “proof of innocence” is a legal threshold of which I am unaware.
There is the proof of guilt which is required,
The case to me doesn’t matter. When your statement frames it as “proof of innocence”, you’re in a precarious legal position.
stymeedone
I would have thought the purpose of the suit was to reclaim his reputation, so he would be a viable option to a MLB team, which would more than make up the cost of his litigation. It would have publicized his innocence. But only if he won.
BrianStrowman9
@muskie
Why wouldn’t Lindsey Hill sell her evidence against him to the media? She would get big dollars if she had anything. Bauer has completely crushed her credibility publicly.
There’s no reason for her not to do so at this point. She has absolutely nothing on him and he has absolutely nothing to gain by paying more money in a legal case to fight her. He sued for evidence and got it.
Phree4u
Why are you demanding he prove his innocence?
Why don’t you find evidence of guilt, just one actual undeniable piece of evidence will suffice.
Until then, you are just as bad as the original accuser who ADMITTED to making it up.
Akakak
Youre speculation is made up narratives.
Google the real facts.

“He’s an awesome pitcher. He’s a great guy, somebody who wants to take the mound every fifth day. But, at the end of the day, I don’t make the decision. That’s a decision that’s not as simple as baseball.”

If Bauer isn’t signed, he will have a 500m + lawsuit against mlb, that he is a certainty to win.

Bauer would have to prove that it is collusion and not just every team deciding it is not worth it.

casorgreener
Yeah like I said she looks bad. Definitely doesn’t seem like a victim to me. She might have a point about the texts being possibly strung together so I’d Have to see the whole conversation and dates. I’m not opposed to Trevor B. I just know he has an uphill battle

Exactly it’s like when a comedian as a heckler “what was that?” They’re buying time for a response
CubsWin108
I agree, its unfair the double standard that was held againist bauer because of his skin color and overall relationship with MLB, case in point, between the years 2016 to 2022, players such as Aroldis Chapman, José Reyes, Jeurys Familia, Roberto Osuna, Addison Russell, Juilo Urias, Domingo German, Marcell Osuna were all suspended for a total of 332 games, most of these players were charged with crimes, some kicked out of MLB, but the kicker is that those 332 games missed for those 8 players were just a little bit more then the 324 games that Trevor Bauer was barred for because of a civic lawsuit and not a actual crime
gotta love the racism towards the white guy…
johnrealtime
Boohoo wah wah white people are the real victims. Pathetic

Catuli Carl
I don’t know how you can have lived in the modern west and not agree that racism toward white people is now considered socially acceptable if not outright virtuous, whereas racism toward say black people is universally condemned.
How many Twitter polls do we need to see showing the difference of people’s opinions to the statements “I hate white people” and “I hate black people” where a majority think the first statement is not racist and almost everyone thinks the second statement is racist?
You’re just delusional If you think the woke/CRT/”Anti-Racism” movement of people like Derek Bell, Kimberly Crenshaw, Robin Deangelo, and Ibram Kendi hasn’t encouraged and endorsed racism toward and hatred of white people. You’re living in a completely different reality.

There is no doubt Bauer deserves a second chance in MLB.
BaseballGuy1
First, no one “deserves” anything. Had he have not been involved in repeated situations that any smart guy would have avoided like the plague, he would not have lost MLB playing time and a lot of money. No excuse for stupidity Bauer. Here is your sign.
Deadguy
Some people like killing people? Like Dexter Morgan? No harm no foul? Lmao
Especially if he kills people that “dont deserve” anything? To “quote you”
Macbeth
Baseballguy that’s victim blaming 101. “He should’ve known better” sounds a lot like “she was asking for it”. Change that mindset my man.
Beff Jagwell
@macbeth he is not a victim. While he may not be wholly guilty of what he was accused of, he unequivocally had some guilt. It’s ok to be a freak, but in a high profile status you have a responsibility to yourself to use better judgment, and he didn’t, obviously. Also, there haven been multiple accusers, and where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
User 401527550
He definitely is a victim. A woman lied to get his money which cost him his job, reputation and could have cost him his freedom. Hope it never happens to you.
BeingARedsFanHurts
In this case, she was literally asking for it.
Macbeth
Jagwell are you serious? Do you hold women to the same standard as Bauer? You’re judging him for his bedroom antics meanwhile the false accuser willingly asked and engaged in the exact same behavior.
Jerome Bettis was accused of SA, doesn’t make it true.
Weirdly enough none of these accusers have had their claims go very far. Until this man is charged with a crime free your mind of your presuppositions of him. Then if he is charged with a crime then you can throw stones.
Beff Jagwell
@macbeth, reading comprehension isn’t your fiend is it? You were too busy trying to get all huffy puffy to read what I wrote.
I never judged him for his preferences. Quite the opposite in fact. Learn to read, and understand what you are reading, prior to immediately elevating your triggered response.
Go mask up while you drive alone, get another vaccine, and throw a temper tantrum somewhere else.
Macbeth
You trying to tell me to mask up and talk about vaccines on a baseball news site is wild. Can you stay focused?
You stated verbatim “he is not a victim”. Victim is defined as a person harmed by an event or action. Bauer was accused of something that was not substantiated in any legal facet and as a result he was suspended and lost out on what would have been a likely 100 million dollar contract when he eventually would have become a free agent.
He was a victim of her false accusation. Perhaps you should pick up a book, library cards are free.
stymeedone
MLB suspended him after their own investigation and presented their evidence to an arbitrator, with Bauer in attendance, and able to provide his side. Was MLB only providing evidence on the one incident, or did the other three alleged incidents become involved? None of us knows. If the accusations were totally false, why would the arbitrator, the only one who has heard both sides and seen all the evidence, rule that Bauer deserved the longest suspension in MLB History (Just not as long as MLB wanted)?
Deleted Userr
@stymeedone Two of the accusers got to testify at his arbitration hearing. One of them is verifiably not subjected to any kind of gag order. She can leak evidence to the public all she wants. So if there is some key inculpatory evidence why hasn’t she done that yet Mr. Win Stat Defender?

charlie 6
Exoneration?
Astros_fan_in_Aus
Try to keep up.
seanmc1983
Some people consider a video that Bauer posted on X to be undeniable proof of his innocence, and don’t understand that guilty people with money and power have charges against them dropped all the time
User 401527550
There was never any charges against him. There you go twisting the facts for a certain narrative. Her text messages and videos exonerated him to anyone without an agenda.
dodgerdoug91
Doesn’t note the woman was denied the restraining order and the Judge called her a liar or that he didn’t pay her anything as part of the settlement and retained his ability to speak on the case…
mp2891
“exoneration”. Y’all kill me. If he was truly interested in being exonerated, he would have proceeded to trial.
Kyak
That could take years. How much money do you think that he could’ve possibly gotten from her? Even if the court ordered her to pay $10 million if she couldn’t pay it then he wouldn’t see anything. This allows him to get back into the MLB faster and start making money.
You fail to understand that SHE had to agree with the out of court settlement too. If her lawyer advised her to agree to this then obviously he knew that they didn’t stand a chance in court.
stymeedone
If he wants back in MLB and to make money, the case was about proving his innocence, not about getting money from her. As it currently stands, he is a man with baggage. As to taking a settlement, that’s what the lesser funded side usually does because they cannot afford the legal fees of a protracted case. He had the money to see the case thru. Settling didn’t get him the exoneration he needed. It simply stopped it from being newsworthy for a time.
Jagsmanohman
@stymeedone ” I’m sorry I hit a read light so I was 5 min late. Why have you burned all of my clothes?”
Zerbs63
What trial? First a female liberal judge would not issue a restraining order against him. You don’t even an high level of evidence to get a restraint order you only need reasonable facts showing the person is a potential threat to get a restraining order. A restraining order was denied.
The DA did not bring forth a criminal case, due to not having any evidence of criminal wrong doing and no trial was ever brought forward.
Finally the civil law suits were dropped as the lawyers realized they couldn’t even get a settlement from Bauer.
No trial ever took place.
Eighty Raw
Because there was no exoneration
stymeedone
I’m sorry. I missed where he was exonerated. Serving your suspension is not exoneration. The DA declined to press charges. Again, that’s not exoneration. MLB investigated, found their own evidence, and suspended him AFTER the charges were dropped. The arbitrator upheld the longest suspension in MLB history. That was the time to sue MLB if he had cause, but instead he went overseas to play. Bauer won’t sue MLB, because an arbitration is private, but a court case would bring MLB’s evidence public and Trevor don’t want that.
Jagsmanohman
Lol imagine coming home 5 min late and you gotta explain it to @stymeedone
Deleted Userr
He won’t sue MLB because he legally can’t.

If this dude could keep his mouth shut I would say there might’ve been a chance. Him being who he is, no way. No team will bring on such a divisive player.
Blue Baron
Good pitching is scarce enough that someone will.
sfes
@BB you surely remember how good Bonds still was in 2007, and still nobody would sign him after that. A player like that will always be scarce.
Blue Baron
But Bonds turned 43 in 2007.
sfes
He was still unbelievable and easily worth signing to a 1 year deal
Blue Baron
He only hit 14 home runs in 2007. How do you know he wanted to continue playing? You don’t know how his body felt at the time.
sfes
Actually he hit 28 in 126 games with a .480 OBP. And you’re right, I didn’t know him personally but all “reporting” at the time was that he wanted to continue playing and was blackballed by MLB.
spliffTONE
@Blue Baron Holy smokes are you clueless. Bonds had 28 HR and a 1.045 OPS his final year, making him a top 10 hitter in the game. He was on record that he wanted to continue playing so bad that he offered to play for minimum wage and donate his entire salary to charity.
Jagsmanohman
Lol @spliffTONE you think front offices evaluated him that way in 07/08? Lol yep they were looking at things like WRC+ and totally not listening to scout etc.
Also, how old was he again?
Blue Baron
Good for you. I stand corrected.
Blue Baron
@sfes: Did you forget that nobody would sign him after he was indicted for lying to a grand jury about his PED use?
Kind of a salient fact about his character.
sfes
Yes his legal issues I’m sure had something to do with the whole thing, but he was willing and able to play cheap on a 1 year deal, that would’ve improved every lineup in 2008. He was still scary at the dish, and DH’able. But hindsight is 20/20.
sfes
I just had to post this: a 43 year old with a 1.045 OPS, god his BB Ref page looks like video game numbers. Wow.
spliffTONE
I think every front office in existent knew that Bonds was still a big time middle of the lineup threat that would sign a dirt cheap one year contract.
What exactly is your point?
sfes
Point was stated. Just wow.
User 401527550
If the dude kept his mouth shut the truth wouldn’t have came out. He defended himself. Sorry that hurts your narrative.

dodgerdoug91
Right? No matter who you believe or whether you like the guy, he served the suspension. Someone is going to give him a shot. Too much talent…
seanmc1983
Is anyone saying that shouldn’t be the case? It’s a straight up fact. I think what people are questioning is whether a team will be willing to do that. It’s not like Bauer is the 2nd coming of Nolan Ryan. He’s a 33yo who was fine in Japan last season, and hasn’t really ever been that good in MLB other than a couple seasons when he was using spider tack to juice his spin rates.
User 3180623956
Exactly. Some people here act like he’s an ace. He’d probably be a number 3 at best. Not worth the headaches.
Blue Baron
What headaches for you?
KingZeke8
On one hand, I don’t see any team touching him with a 10 foot stick until EVERYTHING regarding him is resolved. On the other hand, the opportunity to get a solid #2 or #3 starter on the cheap? Teams will give him a look maybe, but they’ll endure a PR nightmare.
Deleted Userr
How is he a “PR nightmare???”

Yea i didnt know the details thoroughly but when i knew was the woman came back at least a 2nd time and i believe a 3rd to have interactions with trev. If she was treated a way she felt was too far the first why come back and not report it then. That being said maybe she thought things would be different if they happened how she said. Either way he want charged and to come back at least twice says to me that she was at least partially willing to do the types of things she said. He should be able to pitch agian
KingZeke8
“the woman”
People seem to be forgetting there are multiple women, not just one.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
Being a d!ck isn’t illegal.
He can pitch like he did prior to suspension I’m sure most teams won’t care.
Is he volatile, an a hole, etc? Definitely.
So was Curt Schilling. Long as you’re not getting in trouble off the field (falsely accused of SA doesn’t count) and ok in the club house he will probably find another gig on a minor league deal or low aav number if he’s willing to accept that.
BrianStrowman9
Bauer is loud and opinionated. Prior to any allegations he was one who liked to cause a stir.
I’d still sign him. Good pitching isn’t cheap and Bauer will be.
Comrade Tipsy McBlotto
Words like “gold digger” and “psycho” I find to be rather misogynist and do not help in this matter. I ask for people to please stop using these terms. Thank you.
And people seem to forget that he was found guilty of breaking MLB rules against domestic violence. He was found guilty by MLB and later that guilt was reinforced during an arbitration panel hearing (for his appeal). And if people don’t remember, he did lose a defamation suit as well. Four women have come forward publicly to accuse Bauer of sexual assault. His twitter feed is dripping with misogyny and very clear bullying towards various women.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
Don’t like being called a gold digger. Don’t set up an elaborate extortion scheme to false accuse someone of SA in order to extort money from the person you’re falsely accusing.
You seem just fine insulting Bauer when you get the chance. But no insults should be directed towards Hill. Weird hill to die on.
Comrade Tipsy McBlotto
And these comments will be closed soon because people keep upping the ante acting like a bunch of Mike Cernoviches. Too many people are much too focused on certain details on one branch of one tree and cannot see they are in a giant forest. This isn’t just about ONE case. He has had many accusations against him. Some have chosen not to take legal action. Also, proving sexual assault is extremely difficult. And it is an exhausting process. Just ask the victims of Bill Cosby or Jeffrey Epstein or Harvey Weinstein. Now, I don’t think Bauer is in that category but he clearly thrives in holding power over women. It excites him. It is why he made a second career of bullying women online. And it is why he gets excited when his cultish fanbase gangs up and berates the women that he publicly attacks. And we see it once again in this comments section.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
Accusations =/= convictions or guilt.
Just because someone is accused of something doesn’t automatically mean they’re guilty of doing such.
I can accuse you of doing many inappropriate things: with kids, animals, dead bodies. Me accusing you of such doesn’t make it true.
People seem to forget that.
Also. Not saying Bauer is innocent. But being accused doesn’t mean much, especially when the first person to accuse him turned out to be lying.
Comrade Tipsy McBlotto
But this isn’t really about proving his guilt. This is about whether a baseball team will be foolish enough to sign this man. Four public accusations. And then you add in his racist conspiracy winks on twitter, his online misogynist bullying and we can see a pattern of toxicity. If Bauer showed any kind of meaningful remorse or if he had made any kind of public apology (or showed any accountability) for his various actions, maybe there would be a discussion worth having. But instead we have an alleged sexual assaulter, misogynist bully who moonlights as a baseball player. Toxic slime follows this man everywhere he goes. Why would anyone take that on?
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
Because being an a hole isn’t illegal.
Kyrie Irving is an absolutely train wreck of a human being. Capable of scoring 25-30 points a night for an NBA team.
Long as you’re good at sports you’ll have a job long as you’re off the field antics don’t put you in legal trouble.
Twitter comments aren’t illegal. Being an a hole isn’t illegal. Sorry to burst your bubble there Skippy.
There’s an old adage in sports. Winning cures everything. You sign Bauer he puts up Cy Young numbers en route to playoffs etc
…..nobody really care about things you mentioned.
foppert1
I thought there was hope for Bauer when he admitted he handled his relationship with MLB poorly before heading off to Japan. Then he gets a pitcher of the month award or something similar, and opens up his next video by using it to slam all the doubters in an all too familiar toxic little rant. I know it probably felt good but geez, he needs to stop that rubbish. It’s like he just can’t help himself. His ego is well in control of his mouth.

Empathy maybe but I never bought the misogyny thing. the twitter stuff like 5-6 years ago was dumb but feel like he apologized at the time. Doesn’t he have an all female team?
dodgerdoug91
Who apparently all hired lawyers vs. going to the police, minus the woman in CA who couldn’t even get a restraining order? Didn’t the Judge say she wasted the court’s time and lied? At the end of the day, the guy was never arrested or charged. This isn’t Deshaun Watson who paid off two dozen women and had a grand jury convened. At what point do allegations stop equalling guilt?
dodgerdoug91
He has one dumb exchange with a woman 5-6 years ago and now he has a second career of bullying women online?
dodgerdoug91
According to Mookie Betts who probably knows him better than we do:
“My experience with Bauer is not anything remotely close to what everyone else’s experience is. I love him. I think he’s an awesome guy. The personal things? I have no control. I have no say. Obviously, nothing ever came from it.
“He’s an awesome pitcher. He’s a great guy, somebody who wants to take the mound every fifth day. But, at the end of the day, I don’t make the decision. That’s a decision that’s not as simple as baseball.”
dodgerdoug91
Did you see the video of him hyping up the other Japanese pitchers during the playoffs? Dude loves the camera no doubt but why is that toxic?

No, jags. I am not virtuous. I never claimed to be. But I don’t dogpile on women. I don’t shame them simply to get upvotes. I don’t sexually assault them. I have done some bad things in my life and I have had to apologize (and yeah, I meant those apologies) for things I was insensitive about. But Bauer acts like a sociopathic troll. He gets hard by punching down. He doesn’t learn lessons. He is driven by ego and is extremely reactive when confronted about awful things he has said and done. The sport doesn’t need him. I believe in second and third and forth and fifth chances but the man has to make an effort and show some compassion and empathy. He doesn’t seem interested in that.

This is who I am. I am a good person. I treat people well, for the most part. I believe all people are humans and I try and treat them that way. Why does that trigger you so much? I really don’t get it. Do you think people who believe in treating other people well are just faking it? Are you a Hobbesian? To me, your approach just sounds like sociopathy and social darwinism and fascism. I’m signing off on this post. It seems like you can’t even reach out to me on a human level.
Jagsmanohman
@comrade that was a little better, but still a little too much virtue saying you have a conscience (implying those who disagree with you do not) especially when you’re willing to overlook the lack of evidence here. So I think it’s all disingenuous.
Comrade Tipsy McBlotto
okay monkey man — explain to me why no team signed him after his sentence was up? Explain that. Did all these capitalist owners — most of whom are very libertarian and/or Republican (many, if not most, share Bauer’s political and even patriarchal beliefs) — suddenly have a come to Jesus moment, decry the errors of their way and go full woke? No, silly goose. From a pure capitalist approach they realized it would not be worth all the slimy toxic baggage that comes with this man. He is in fact a PR nightmare. And not because he stood up for something be believed in and put his employment on the line. He is a PR nightmare because he treats women terribly. And clearly a lot of people agree. Modern day Ty Cobbs are not a good sell.
Jagsmanohman
Lol Comrade! Don’t you know! We infiltrate all the moderate capitalist pigs with our dEi committees! The E means EQUITY, so you know it’s us!
Lol c’mon it’s not 5 years ago. You can’t shape public opinion w/ the whole oppressor/victim dynamic then gaslight your way into “but capitalism madez duh decisionz!” Up your game.

websoulsurfer
Wrong. He was found guilty of violating MLB policies against domestic violence. It doesn’t matter if it’s done in private or in public, it’s against the rules.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
Well a lot of good that policy is when they punish a dude who turned out to be telling the truth. Mlbs investigation was hog wash considering it turned up nothing remotely close to Bauer and his legal team found during discovery.
If anything the policy needs to be fixed and amended.
websoulsurfer
Bauer was never proven to be telling the truth. In fact, a publication that said he beat the woman won the defamation case he brought against them.
The policy against beating your spouse should not be amended. It should be strengthened.
MY policy is to mute anyone who even tries to defend Bauer. They are not the type of people I want to see on my feed. Are you going to be one of them?
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
“Mute anyone who brings facts into the discussion”
Publication winning a defamation lawsuit doesn’t equate to being guilty of doing such. To prove defamation you’d have to prove the publication knew what they were saying was false at the time or injected personal feelings into the subject rather than facts. Hindsight isn’t taken into consideration during defamation cases.
Bauer literally provided proof his legal team found to the public. Readily available for you to view.
I’m not defending Bauer as a person. Dudes an a hole and has been his entire career. We’ve known this since Arizona traded him and when he threw the ball over the fence while with the Indians.
But. Mlb severely mishandled this issue. And as I stated in another post. Former pitcher Jacob Nix was well aware of what Ms. Hill was planning. He should be given a ban from the mlb of his own. Yet mlb will take no actions doing such sadly.
riffraff
websoulsurfer -Listen to my thoughts on the subject but if yours differ from mine I’ll mute you. Am I wrong here or have I misunderstood your position? Also I’m curious –if you mute the pro bauer people what did you expect to find on this thread..a bunch of people that agree with you? Sounds like you just want some validation. Guessing you will just mute me but i figured I’d just ask anyways
Heinouanus
Metadata from the womans phone you speak of verifies that a video she took of bauer asleep in his bed was 12 hours after she stated he “beat her into unconsciousness.” She is seen coyly smiling and blowing a kiss to the ohone eith no bruises or marks at all. She also had numerous texts proving it was a plan to scam him out of quote “millions.” Stop white knighting for obvious liars. It makes the real cases of women/men who need help get taken less seriously.
william-2
In this country we used to believe that you are innocent until proven guilty. He was not found guilty. You are saying he was not proven innocent. What does that matter? That defeats the whole point of our justice system. This is a stance not a single person would ever make if it was them being accused of anything.
It isn’t a matter of whether you like or hate him, and it certainly isn’t about defending him, or in your case, finding him personally guilty in your head. It is about an accusation, what was the result of the investigation, a verdict and whether the punishment handed to him fit the non proven accusation.
Go Go Power Rangers
I’m sure the people who defend Bauer aren’t defending domestic violence. Which is why this case is so divisive. You mean well but in the case of Bauer it’s not just black and white. The woman lied. She did have visible markings but was done during, you know. She targeted Bauer and had planned to extort him. I don’t disagree with your stance but I disagree with MLBs.
dodgerdoug91
We don’t know what part of the policy it was found he violated but remember their role and that of the arbitrator is to rule over a labor agreement. They aren’t the police. Not sure what you mean public vs. private.

Did you ever find that link to Bryan Freedman saying Bauer violated the terms of the settlement and that they would be refiling their lawsuit against him as a result?

Barry Bonds could not get a job in MLB in 2008 because he was effectively black listed, coming off a season he had a 1.045 OPS.

He is not worth even mentioning in any MLB forum! He has been canceled.
dodgerdoug91
What do you and your wife think of Mookie Betts and his comments last week? He’s been a great guy in our clubhouse and community. I was surprised to see him take this stand but feel like Bauer deserves another shot (outside of LA).

His baggage is too large, too public for what at best is now just an above average talent. WAY too much downside for the limited upside.
Even if someone had interest, I don’t think they’d be able to craft a contract with enough additional language that would likely break the MLB standard contract and that’s a no go for the MLBPA.

If he could go 14-8 each season and do it over 3 years the 25 mil total would be be great. If they don’t sign Ohtani half their fans will probably not buy tickets anyways so less of them to boo him. websoulsurfer
He was found guilty of breaking the rules of baseball TWICE. MLB and the arbitration panel in Bauer’s appeal.
He also lost the one case that actually went to court, Bauer’s defamation lawsuit against a publication.
So he was NOT exonerated. But you are muted.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
Lmao mlb rules are a joke when you punish a man that turned out to be innocent of what Hill accused him of. A lot of good their “investigating” did prior to issuing the 324 game ban.
The fact mlb found absolutely nothing compared to what bauers legal team found during discovery is abhorrent and shame on the mlb.
mp2891
You do realize that MLB does not have any legal authority to obtain discovery materials from people unaffiliated with Major League Baseball, right?
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
You do realize part of investigations can include talking to close contacts of someone involved. You don’t need legal authority to
1. Look at people’s social media posts including the accuser.
2. Contact people on their social media pages
Among other things. Right?
I’d honestly love for Bauer to sue the mlb and head towards discovery and release what evidence the mlb “found” to warrant his 324 game suspension. I’d venture to guess it was nothing more than a knee jerk reaction. Manfreds decision was probably nothing more than #metoo or believe all women bs without much factual integrity.
dodgerdoug91
The rules of baseball are literally a labor dispute….? Regardless of who you believe, the arbitrator reduced his suspension and don’t think anyone can argue he served it. Why shouldn’t he have an opportunity to play? Anyone can accuse anyone of anything and our system isn’t set up to exonerate. Why does accused mean guilty?
Also what case did he lose? Nothing in civil court went to trial. He settled with the athletic and they corrected the story. I think Molly Knight had to delete everything she wrote about him on her twitter. The woman in CA and him settled their suits against each other without him paying her anything and with him being able to talk about what happened and share new evidence. If anything, the only full legal proceeding was the restraining order like 2.5 years ago and the judge said she wasted the court’s time and lied.
mp2891
You are mischaracterizing what happened. Bauer sued the girl and then agreed to settle the lawsuit without the girl paying him anything or giving up anything. Defendants in lawsuits are not the ones who receive settlement payments. I’m honestly shocked at how many people have totally fallen for the dog and pony show act of Bauer.
BrianStrowman9
She had to give up information. The lawsuit was about discovery.
You think Lindsey Hill has any real assets? Trevor Bauer is the one who has money. I’m shocked you can’t put 1 and 1 together.

1. Ravens were willing to sign Kapernick. Until his gf called the owner, 1st owner to sign a black gm in Ozzie Newsome, a racist and Ray Lewis an uncle Tom.
2. Kaepernicks interview where he is literally saying Fidel freaking Castro had good ideas and policies was abhorrent, tone deaf, and an insult to those who survived / died due his actions.
3. Kaepernick called Lamar Houston a pretty racist word out of anger on the field.
“Kneeling” wasn’t exactly the only issues Kaepernick had now. Let’s be honest.
Deleted Userr
Has he “come back right after?” No? Exactly.
And he didn’t abuse a woman either.

False equivalency for Kap. He didn’t lose a job because he knelt. Over his final 2q games he combined for 3 wins, a sub 60% completion rate, and an uninspired 85 QB Rating.
But yeah, it’s because he knelt.
Or it was the fact he opted out, wouldn’t take a back up job, wouldn’t take a practice squad spot, and had a first ever work out held for him at the NFLs expense which he voluntarily no showed for.
But sure, he was black listed.

Bauer lost the only case that went to court. a defamation suit he brought.

websoulsurfer previously alleged that Bryan Freedman (Hill’s lawyer) said that Bauer had violated the terms of the settlement and that they would be re-filing their lawsuit against him as a result, even though both lawsuits were dismissed with prejudice which means they can’t EVER be re-filed and even though one of the key conditions under which Bauer agreed to drop his lawsuit against Hill was that all outstanding gag orders were lifted meaning he can talk about the case and leak evidence to the public all he wants. And so can Hill. And then web mutes anyone who asks for proof of this.
He also alleged that Bauer fabricated the text messages he showed in his video even though Hill has already confirmed their authenticity (she claims it was just “locker room talk,” but she admits sending them).
dodgerdoug91
Def didn’t “lose the only case that went to court”
Kt411gcn
Dude, you need to do a lot more research. A lot more has come out recently, including numerous texts showing she was plotting everything out. Manfred has always hated Bauer for calling him out numerous times. He banned Bauer due to spite, not because they had anything on him. Judge dropped the case for a reason, even refused to give her a restraining order against Bauer.
Instead of covering your eyes and ears and muting people, maybe be open-minded to different viewpoints and new information.

EscapedFromLA
You keep saying he was found guilty. He’s never even been criminally charged by a court of law. MLB is NOT a court of law. It’s a corporation and they claimed a policy violation. I think Rob Manfred hates his guts for being outspoken so it came as no surprise they ruled against him based solely on (false) accusations. They’ve sure been quiet after proof exonerating him (yes, it does indeed exonerate him) was revealed.
It’s sad that innocent unless proven guilty is dead in this day and age.

What rubs me the wrong way is how independent they claim to be yet conform to government ran media standards out of their own fear.
They won’t require a subscription- they’ll loose to many people who come to site for comment section. Just keep it real – this site blew up when mlb and espn shut down their comment sections.
And when I say government ran media, yes of course I refer to espn and mlb but also every non sport media channel. Every single one of them conform or are flat out part of the beautiful and free (lol) United States Federal Government

Black listing should be against the law, and Bauer has a real beef. Just because he’s white, this current society believes he can be punished with impunity. Consensual kinks is not a crime. When a party to it desires to quit it, that does not make it legal to falsely charge them with a crime just because they say no more. We’ve seen an punished secret blacklisting of people in Hollywood years ago, lets not see baseball do it either.

He was found to have done none of what this woman claimed and MLB persecuted him for. The woman was a complete liar looking for a payday and yet all these ignorant people continue to persecute him and talk negatively about him as if he did something wrong. He has every right not to show any empathy toward that girl because he did none of what she accused him of. It was proven she was just looking for a payday.
jdgoat
The last article I read about him made it clear that the judge stressed that he was not in fact found not guilty of what he was accused of. Just that the case would not be going forward. Whether you like it or not, there is a difference.
LATrolleyDodger
Thank you JDgoat. I’ve seen some legal terms used incorrectly throughout this board. An example is “Bauer was fully exonerated” No he was not exonerated. That occurs when someone is found guilty in court and new evidence clears them. He was never tried in court and by a jury, therefore he was not exonerated. Sexual assault cases are very hard to prove and adding the domestic violence charge would’ve been a tough argument to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. It’s not that it didn’t happen, it’s that arguing for domestic violence and assault charges requires clear cut evidence. The DA deals with 100s of thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases. They aren’t going to take something to trial they know will not bring charges. That would be frivolous. That being said, Bauer is not “not guilty” nor is he “innocent”. The evidence on hand just wasn’t enough for the DA to take a gamble on proving.
People DO have their kinks but it IS also possible to consent to something and have it turn into something beyond what was intentionally initiated. What is the line? Have your kink but does it really need to be about blacking eyes and bruising lips? A majority of people would not define “rough s*x” as including unconsciousness and being beaten.
Rooting for a dude who gets his rocks off that way is hard
Deleted Userr
Only reason he wasn’t found not guilty was because the DA wouldn’t even give a jury that chance.
BrianStrowman9
Lol do you guys know the difference?
He didn’t pay someone off and have an uncooperative witness. The charges were dropped because the DA didn’t have enough evidence to even prosecute a case.
mp2891
“He was found…” “It was proven…” Come on man… If Bauer wanted to prove his case, he never would have dismissed the lawsuit (the lawsuit he filed to prove his innocence).

He filed the lawsuit to get access to the evidence. Once he had that, he didn’t need the lawsuit anymore.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.

BrianStrowman9
Lmao JD and MP.
Lindsey Hill was not even able to get a restraining order against Bauer. Prosecuting where the “victim” is a wealthy and famous man who enjoys rough sex isn’t exactly great optics for a DA. You avoid that so fast.
Dragging this on does nothing for Bauer and just adds more noise as he tries to continue his baseball career. He got the discovery that he wanted from the suit.
With the actual evidence that has been leaked in the Hill case—I can’t imagine how you think Bauer is guilty in this case. There’s actually no way.
I don’t think he’s a particularly great human being and I can’t imagine there’s a world where we’d be friends —but that has nothing to do with it.

It was one of the worst baseball decisions I’ve ever seen !

Look at the situation from the side of a victim –
What hurt Ray Rices wife worse – getting punched in the face or video of her getting punched going viral which never would have happened if they media wouldn’t have got involved.
What hurt Ray rices wife more – getting punched in the face or their family loosing 10’s of millions of dollars when he lost his contract bc of it ?
The media doesn’t create justice – it creates villains and victims

What blows me away is the fact that throughout that whole article, nowhere does it so much as broach the fact that additional evidence, purposefully kept from the defense team (until recently) has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that this was, literally, attempted extortion on the part of the plaintiff. Idk, maybe it’s just me, but that seems like information that should be in mentioned somewhere in the above piece.
I was never really a big Trevor Bauer fan. Rather, I was very indifferent to him. After this whole debachle, and watching how he’s handled it on his YT channel, I’ve gotta say, he’s made a fan out of me. I’d love to see him in Atlanta.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that a collective whining virtue signal is preventing GMs from making their team better by signing a ready made K-heavy #2 starter. He’s a better pitcher and at least as much of a thorny social media distraction as Marcus Stroman. And when a one trick pony DH like Marcell Ozuna, who has actual video evidence of a domestic violence situation AND a DUI has no trouble staying on a roster, why aren’t teams signing Bauer then? MLBPA should investigate this as it’s essentially collusion directed against an individual.
BrianStrowman9
My only question is exactly how good is Bauer now?
He’s certainly good enough to be in your rotation but is he still a TOR guy? I don’t know. I would like to see him have a chance to prove it though.

I hope the Yankees sign him, I believe the Rangers will and should. Having more than one accuser equals a pattern, while it can’t convict you it should certainly raise eyebrows about your character. Making excuses for multiple accusers is just a way to distract people from your true character. This is exactly the same b.s. witch hunt excuse trump uses.
“Knowing what we know now. I’m willing to bet the other 3 accusers have more in common with this trash woman“ – this type of thinking is exactly why many accusers don’t even come forward, let alone press charges. You say that you have a daughter, I do to, then I suggest that you educate yourself on sexual violence against women and how the system is still stacked against them in order to get justice.
User 3180623956

Knowing what we now know, JJ, to continue with this drivel is borderline slanderous. Yet expected. Many folks cannot admit they’re wrong once they’ve sided on a particular issue or topic, they become tethered to it, strangely. Knowing what we know now and continuing to pretend like he assaulted someone in anger; or fired a firearm near someone indoors in anger, reads like someone who doesn’t understand the difference between blackmail, accusations and what actual abuse is. She tried to extort money from him, period. He likes rough consensual *things*. Cool story, none of our business.
Folks continuing to feign outrage over this, are the problem. Not consensual adults, in the privacy of their quarters. People are into weird stuff, their circus, not ours. Wake up, no laws were broken. No settlements or hush monies paid. A crime was committed, by the golddigger. Have you actually read all the texts, and information involved? No way, if you’re still defending this broad.

HalosHeavenJJ
It is very obvious you don’t own a company or have to worry about a brand.
Of course a guy who gets off on smacking women around will smack more women around when he works for you. And any time a guy smacks a woman around he could seriously injure or kill her.
If that’s your company and brand you won’t take that risk. That’s all I’m saying.

Jagsmanohman
HalosHeavenJJ stop moving the goalposts of the argument. He got contracts after he was “an online bully”. That’s not the issue.
HalosHeavenJJ
I’m not moving goalposts, mine are consistent.
1. It isn’t just this latest woman.
2. There’s a long, consistent pattern of problems with women.
3. That’s why the accusations against him are more believable than they are against people who act like decent human beings.
Add all that up with the repugnant nature of the accusations and he isn’t a desirable face for your franchise or brand.
If Trevor really has nothing to hide he’ll sue MLB and let the findings of their investigations become public in a court of law. But we all know he won’t.
Jagsmanohman

HalosHeavenJJ
he was unpaid during the longest domestic violence suspension in MLB history.
194 games of unpaid leave following a 9 month investigation into his activities. Was originally going to be over 300.
No organization is going to rip that much money away from a guy, especially one with the ability to get high priced lawyers, without having solid reason.
Trevor could sue for that 194 games worth of money back but all the findings would be public. That 194 games worth of money is certainly more than his next contract will net.
Why won’t he?
Deleted Userr
The Dodgers did not have a hand in that decision. They did what they CBA (which their owner signed off on) and commissioner Manfred told them to do.
HalosHeavenJJ
Yes, my mistake.
Then he should sue MLB for the 194 games he wasn’t paid.
MLB would then need to publicly show their investigation and its findings and prove they fit the CBA criteria for the suspension.
If Trevor was truly ramrodded this lawsuit would have happened two years ago.
Jagsmanohman
HaloHeavenJJ keep on moving them goalposts…
HalosHeavenJJ
You really think Trevor sat on concrete evidence of his innocence for two years rather than fight for 194 games worth of pay?
All so he could release it on his social media accounts instead of having his day in court.
Yeah, makes a ton of sense. I’m so glad you aren’t anywhere near any of the women in my life.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
1. Bauer was paid his money until suspension issued. You dont get paid while suspended. Thats true in any sport.
2 Itd be almost impossible to bring forth a lawsuit against the mlb, as much as i would love him to do so, regarding a pretty broad policy. Any policy in NFL MLB NBA is essentially make us look bad in the news and we can suspend you after we “investigate”. aka conduct detrimental to the league’s image. Making matters worse he was allowed to appeal and an 3rd party knocked down the suspension. So he doesnt have any legal recourse there sadly.
3. Theres some awful legal advice coming from guys like MP and JJ I hope nobody ever considers their legal advise.
Deleted Userr
@HalosHeavenJJ What he did was in violation of the CBA even if Hill consented to it (which she did). Other players have been suspended with less evidence. Manfred has extremely broad authority to suspend players.
Ban Jacob Nix. He knew Lindsey Hill was lying.
You’re assuming Trevor Bauer had evidence of his innocence. I doubt Bauer thought Hill would turn around and accuse him of SA afterwards. So what evidence would he have? He had to sue her and get evidence from her side through discovery that was illegally kept from him and his lawyers to prove his innocence.
Nobody entering a consenting relationship ever thinks “you know I may need to cover myself in case she lies and said I SA her or worse so I better keep some evidence i didnt do it”

If you lie and sue you can be held liable for crimes and penalties.
If internal policies are enacted without proof of wrongdoing the injured party can sue the employer.
If Bauer was actually innocent of all four of these charges he’d be suing MLB and the Dodgers instead of people who can’t afford as good of lawyers as he can.
The fact he doesn’t want to have MLB’s findings aired publicly as they would in a trial speaks a lot. They wouldn’t have cost a man that much income without being able to legally defend their position.
And if they did and Bauer won, I’d eat every single word I typed on this or any other board.

This is god awful legal advice. Everyone disregard it immediately.
“If internal policies are enacted without proof of wrongdoing the injured party can sue the employer.”
MLB pitcher Trevor Bauer has been accused of. SA Lindsey Hill. That statement alone is all the MLB needed Sports league hide behind a broad rule called conduct detrimental to the league. Which essentially allows them to arbitrarily suspend players without evidence. All you have to do is bring negative and unwanted attention to the league.
“If Bauer was actually innocent of all four of these charges he’d be suing MLB and the Dodgers instead of people who can’t afford as good of lawyers as he can.”
He has no legal recourse to sue either. MLB acted within their right to issue a suspension according to the CBA (the contract agreed to by players and owners). And Dodgers paid him what he was owed.
“The fact he doesn’t want to have MLB’s findings aired publicly as they would in a trial speaks a lot.”
1. When did Trevor Bauer ever say that
2. I wouldnt want my s3x tape released either or pics of my dong.
3. mlb findings mean absolutely nothing now that bauer got all the evidence he needed to exonerate himself and prove his innocence.
“And if they did and Bauer won, I’d eat every single word I typed on this or any other board.”
You should just quit while youre ahead.
Jagsmanohman
HalosHeavenJJ…not only are you moving goal posts, you’re acting as if MLB and a court of law have the same standard..dude you are all over the place. Argue from one spot for 10 min
HalosHeavenJJ
I don’t pretend to be a lawyer.
There are guidelines in the CBA for the length of suspension with rights to appeal. Trevor was handed over 300 games and got it reduced to 194 on appeal.
Even if MLB was within its rights to suspend him for unwanted negative attention the sheer length of the ban needed to be justified. We’re talking about tens of millions of dollars in lost income.
MLB findings mean everything when it comes to justifying that amount of damage to an employee.

Deleted Userr
@HalosHeavenJJ Respectfully, you betting he wouldn’t plus a quarter is worth 25 cents.
HalosHeavenJJ
I’ve consistently stated I don’t want him playing for the Angels.
I know there are two different burdens of proof (I do have friends who are lawyers) but wronged employees generally have the ability to sue. Court proceedings are public, though, and all dirty laundry is aired.
If Trevor doesn’t have that ability, I made a few foolish posts here.
However, he does have enough history outside of this instance to make me think he’s a dick I don’t want playing for my favorite team and I don’t fault owners for staying away from him.

194 games is essentially 1 seasons worth of games. That’s a pretty standard suspension when you’re dealing with accusations of domestic violence.
162 regular season games
3 wc games
5 division games
7 championship games
7 world series games
184 games possible or so.
Mlb did and does not need to justify issuing what became a 1 season ban because conduct detrimental to the league is a pretty broad scoping policy with very limited restrictions.
I’m actually in favor of extinguishing that rule and making leagues have to wait till charges are at least filed before issuing suspensions. Teams usually have character clauses in contracts but teams can still feel free to release a player but you’re still on the hook for whatever you owe them until suspension is issued.
Trevor Bauers net worth is around 70 million dollars. But more to the point mlb doesn’t need evidence to suspend a player which is the part you seem to be missing. Make us look bad and we suspend you is pretty common practice. Nba suspended Ja Morant 25 games for flashing a gun in a video he posted online.

Yankees had Chapman and German, no issues with the fanbase. Bauer and Cole at the top of the rotation again, like their good old days together! Those perennial Cy Young candidates with a rebounding Cortez, Rodon and hopefully King would be dynamite, without theoretically committing beyond one year to Bauer, one would think cheaply too.

I wish people would take a more logical stance on this. If you want MLBTR to keep posting topics you can comment on, keep that in mind.
MLB teams don’t really care if he did something. They care about whether or not he can pitch, whether or not he’s a clubhouse disaster, and whether or not he’s a PR disaster.
People arguing Bauer didn’t do anything and he’s been unfairly treated aren’t exactly right. Bauer created a PR nightmare through a maelstrom of incendiary social media posts and videos. He went scorched Earth on the issue and dragged MLB into it, kicking and screaming. Bauer was not at all careful about the women he associated with or how he interacted with them. There are a lot of crazies out there. Men and women alike, and when one of your biggest jobs is being in the spotlight for a sensitive industry like MLB, that’s a big mistake. Even without that, Bauer created a lot of headlines and controversy for MLB and his teammates by being awfully prickly and willing to publicly call out other players and MLB operations. These women were NUTS, but Bauer associated with them anyway. That’s just practically asking for this stuff to blow up. It’s not just irresponsible of Bauer, it was negligent, and he kept doing it even after it started blowing up in his face.
People arguing Bauer was guilty are definitely wrong. He wasn’t guilty. It wasn’t even remotely close. It wasn’t even 50/50. Bauer’s been universally successful in defending himself against criminal AND civil matters in a society where guilt is assumed, almost no evidence is required and prosecutors are salivating at the opportunity to take down big fish to get recognition. Many prosecutors run for public office. Having a “Bauer” notch on their belt is like campaign gold. Each woman who has come forward has smelled money in the water and it doesn’t take much digging to see that. Right now, in the US, it’s been a near automatic for randoms to come forward seeking fame and fortune with accusations. It happens all the time.
Let’s be at least a little neutral here, if we can. Bauer’s a PR disaster right now. Even though he’s managed to prove his innocence beyond any rational argument, I doubt any teams can take a risk on him right now. I think 2025 is probably a different story. By then, if no more headlines blow up, he’ll be far enough removed from these scandals to get a shot. Especially if he continues to dominate in Japan and conduct himself more professionally.
I just don’t see it this year. He needs to do more image scrubbing.
Jagsmanohman
@martas why on earth would they remove the comments? This is healthy discourse. And why wouldn’t teams take a risk on him when Marcell Ozuna just played 140+ games? Nobody has pointed out how exactly Bauer’s allegations are worse or even equal to the clear evidence of Marcell Ozuna’s actions. It doesn’t make sense.
Deleted Userr
Or Julio Urias or Aroldis Chapman or Jose Reyes or literally anyone else who has been suspended for DV and continued playing once the suspension was complete.
Fred McGriff HR
Jagsmanohman
Please advise about “Ozuna’s actions”. Are you talking about the fact that he pushed his wife when they were having a heated argument. He never beat her, fact. If he’d have done so, there’s no way Snitker or AA would allow him to be on the roster.
Jagsmanohman
Lol @McGriff or the DUI…far more evidence than anything they have on Bauer. Just asking for consistency and if not, a justifiable reason for the blatant double standard
Fred McGriff HR
@Jagsmanohman
We can agree on the DUI, even though he passed all the field sobriety tests asked from him by an obnoxious cop.
But the ‘wife beater’ tag doesn’t hold up, but I understand you using Ozuna’s name, maybe Osuna is a better comparison.
Jagsmanohman
Lol Ozuna driving 50 miles over the speed limit but it’s the obnoxious cop
Fred McGriff HR
No proof of being “50 miles over the speed limit”. No radar gun used to measure the speed, just the cop’s allegation.
Jagsmanohman
Hmm funny how Ozuna didn’t deny it when the cop pointed it out. Keep finesseing though. This is fun
Fred McGriff HR
No need to finesse, his English is not the highest level, so no need to deny or confirm any allegations a cop made. He admitted to having a few Presidente beers, I believe it was 4.
Jagsmanohman
Lol just an interesting level of skepticism at the police in a situation that was rather cut & dry, there was no talk of anything seeming fishy about it.

“These women were NUTS, but Bauer associated with them anyway. That’s just practically asking for this stuff to blow up. It’s not just irresponsible of Bauer, it was negligent, and he kept doing it even after it started blowing up in his face.”
Victim blaming
JoeBrady
This woman should be in jail for what she’s done,
=========================
Jail, I don’t know. But this a pure shakedown, and she should be punished. Having no downside to this type of activity will only encourage others.
BrianStrowman9
@Joe
I’m not sure that would be good for Bauer at this point. Best thing he can do now is let this all die now. Info is out. If you don’t think Hill was shaking him down now—I don’t think anyone could ever convince you.

The Silver Fox once crooned nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. If this polarizing figure is unable to land another gig in MLB maybe his reps can hit up Netflix. With Mookie’s character reference maybe he returns to the Doyers. IMO he is done. Stick a glowing pitchfork in his arse.

@wiseoldfool Marcell Ozuna says hi

You could be right, and that would only encourage other shakedown artists.

As much as I hate violence against women or domestic assault I think he gets another shot because of his skill. So many examples of recent players signing it’s rare to see a long term blackball. What’s right or justice doesn’t always play out in sports
Stlswampdonkeys
Wow, dude really just decided to show up. Yeah, he aint going in the MLB any time soon
Jagsmanohman
Why @Stlswampdonkeys? Collusion against an innocent man?
Deleted Userr
Still waiting for Pads Fans to come on this thread from 4 suffering accounts claiming Bauer fabricated the texts he showed in his video and that Hill will be re-filing her lawsuit because Bauer violated the terms of the settlement even though her lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice.
Stlswampdonkeys
@jagsmanohman, exactly why. If teams wanted him back they would have signed him after he got cut by Dodgers. Would they have to wait for the suspension to be over? Yes, but teams wanted the quote on quote ”Star Player”, they would have signed him. Is there a slight chance he could get signed? Yes, but given his previous drama, i would say no.
Jagsmanohman
Then that’s active collsion against a player by all 30 mlb clubs to deny employment to a player who would improve their club. Just call it what it is.
Deleted Userr
It’s only collusion if there is an explicit agreement between the teams. Them all choosing not to sign him independently of one another isn’t collusion.
JoeBrady
It isn’t. A team can decide that Bauer is 100% innocent, but still come to the conclusion that it would be bad publicity.
FWIW, this is why the shakedown artists win. Bauer didn’t do anything, and still had his career ruined. Future stars will just hand out $100k settlements rather than fight.
BrianStrowman9
Yeah. Bauer isn’t known for taking a measured and reasonable approach to things though. He fights to dominate and does things his own way.
It was a perfect storm to tank his earnings. Also FWIW, if Bauer would’ve signed a normal contract instead of taking a short deal to bet on himself— he may have never gotten cut.
If the Dodgers or another team had to decide between eating $90-110MM over 3-4 years he may have never gotten cut.
tangerinepony
They’re not gonna allow Wander Franco back in the game then they won’t allow Trevor Bauer back in. He’s gonna have to learn to sleep in Sh@t for awhile because he’s finished in MLB
Jerry Hairston Jr's Toupee
Dude would hafta keep a low profile, quit the antics and convince a team that he won’t be a distraction to get another chance in the bigs. Doubt he’s capable of stfu….
FreeBauer
We know the ” true ” reason why he is currently being cancelled. He is a white male, trump supporter who questioned the 911 narrative when he drew BD 911 ( bush did 911 ) behind the mound in a nationally televised game. Lets be real people
Jagsmanohman
It’s clear the dissenters here are more hellbent about punishing someone for having incorrect opinions vs. any evidence of a real crime. And that truly says it all. It’s not liberal to destroy someone for having a different opinion, in fact, it’s “progressively” toxic to liberalism, critical thinking, creativity, and the sovereign individual. Keep fighting the good fight, virtuous comrades.
Jack Dawkins
I have a non-controversial question. How did MLB decide what the Dodgers’ CBT should be during the administrative leave period? It seems to me that the Dodgers should have been able to deduct Bauer’s administrative leave pay from the bottom line because they didn’t get any competitive production from him. Is this how it was handled in the first place? And if it wasn’t, can this be retroactively corrected with credits for this year’s CBT bill?
OhioDodger
Should be interesting to see if any team will take a chance on him this year. Could be a big PR hit with fans and sponsors.
GoGreen
I think Bauer to the Rangers is a possibility. I think if anyone could handle the pr, it’s an organization still riding the high of their first championship. The press may be more focused on adding and protecting a piece for a repeat championship run. Dallas media and fanbase is familiar with these types of situations, as seen with The Cowboys. Rangers are sitting high in payroll and might be able to get a discounted prove it deal, taking advantage of Trevor’s return. I see the Phillies, Orioles, and a potential Reds reunions as possibilities as well.
DarkGhost
His Teammates in the past have hated him, mangers have hated him, on top of the backlash from fans/ sponsors I doubt he will have any playoff contending team’s interested.
its_happening
Incentive-laden contract. And for anyone saying every clubhouse hates him? Well, not if he’s eating 7 innings or close to it for 30 starts. Plus, don’t think this whole ordeal hasn’t changed Bauer.
kje76
Taking personal beliefs out of the equation (and too few are doing that in this conversation), many teams will steer well clear of this situation completely. It would be a PR hit, and teams have to do things like sell advertising and tickets. Who wants to possibility of a protest working against your sales efforts?
As for the possibility of a lawsuit, I doubt it would be successful. The primary reason the previous collusion suit went against the owners was that they were foolish enough to put it in writing that (most of them) were intentionally avoiding free agents. I’m pretty sure that won’t be the case now.
StreakingBlue
On top of that he wasn’t as good as advertised for the Dodgers when he did pitch. He walked too many, and was more hype then results.
Jagsmanohman
Stroman has a higher CoWAR according to fangraphs

My biggest question remains unanswered. Did Bauer’s buddy ever get to shoot him with paintballs in the zakila for signing a multiyear contract?
baseballteam
An off-season that’s spicier than most.
T8Rcheese1
He should get signed. He was exonerated.
deucebigalow4
Exonerated?
dbacksrs
Rumor has it, he will be Miguel Montero’s battery mate in Dubai’s Baseball United League.
CardsFan57
I just hope he stays in Japan and I don’t hear of him again. Whatever else is true or false, he’s a tool not liked by any teammates. The worst thing for me would be him signing with the team I follow. The Cardinals have enough issues without Bauer adding to them.
Deleted Userr
So you’ve played with him before?
CardsFan57
No, but saying his teammates don’t like him is hardly new or earth shattering information. I certainly don’t see any players suggesting their team bring him on board.
Deleted Userr
Betts?
CardsFan57
Did Betts say he wanted the Dodgers to sign Bauer?
Jersey609
Marcell Ozuna was accused and found guilty the same season Bauer was and Ozuna was able to play again that year after only a 90 game suspension

With the lack of starting pitching, he’ll find a job, he’s got a lot left in the tank, he’ll have to repair his reputation thru community service and definitely lighten up on his abrasive style, he still has something to prove and not sure where the $ starts, I would like to see the Reds take a flyer on him, and set his career straight again

There are also some things to which the law says you cannot consent, even if you want to. Ordinarily, the law follows what is called the “Volenti principle”: you cannot be harmed by that to which you consent, ergo that conduct also cannot be criminalized.
But there are exceptions: you cannot consent to your own murder, a principle which both should be self-evident and dates back several hundred years to the British common law. Also, every state has enacted a statute which states that you cannot consent to the infliction of grievous bodily harm.
In other words, it doesn’t matter what the context is: whether or not sex is involved, you cannot legally consent to an act which will result in your death or serious bodily injury.
There is no evidence that Bauer’s victim ever consented to be concussed by Bauer’s closed fists – and even if she did, she could not have legally done so anyway.
Bauer defenders always seem to lean into the “she asked for it” defense even though that defense is built on an admission that Bauer sexually battered a woman and knocked her unconscious.
PadresWSChamps2025
Bauer has no “victims.”
deucebigalow4
I’m using the widely accepted definition of victim as a person that is harmed, injured or killed as a result of a crime, accident, or other event or action.
Nobody, including his own legal defense, denies that Bauer choked, punched, and physically harmed a woman.
PadresWSChamps2025
They admit he engaged in consensual BDSM. Is everyone who has ever engaged in consensual BDSM as a “sub” a victim now?
deucebigalow4
It doesn’t matter what the context is: whether or not sex is involved, you cannot legally consent to an act which will result in your death or serious bodily injury.
PadresWSChamps2025
And yet lots of people do and will continue to.
deucebigalow4
And lots of people can choose to press charges or be prosecuted for it. Sadly, there are more than a few victims in abusive relationships that do not out of fear or retaliation.
PadresWSChamps2025
So why wasn’t Bauer prosecuted then smart guy?
“Out of fear or retaliation” bruh Bauer and LH lived in different counties and their lives weren’t in any way intertwined. How would he supposedly “retaliate?”
