Warning: If Mark persists with the stupid Bees/Beads thing, I will resurrect the entire Pete O’Brien Rave Reviews schtick, in justifiable retaliation.
HubcapDiamondStarHalo
I kinda wish that’s the sort of thing I had to concern myself with in life!
lemonlyman
Instead of fighting it you should give in and watch Arrested Development. Some of the finest writing in TV history.

Lol All this time I thought he was quoting “The Office.” Which I have not seen either. Though I do watch “Yellowjackets” and “Hell’s Kitchen.”
THEY LIVE!!!
@lester
So Mark likes anal beads. What’s the big deal? it’s 2023. If Mark wants to be non-binary too we all have to accept “they” and “their” pronouns. right??
Subatomicbunt
This would actually have been appropriate as far back as 2017 actually…

Don’t care one way or the other about his beads fixation, nor about an old TV show, but the repetitive tired in-joke chat thing gets No Pete-O’Brien’s-Defense-Style Rave Reviews here.
And his bees can get off my lawn.

Looks to be a lot of people confused with AA (Braves GM) including myself right now with these moves over the last week. I like Mark’s comment of claiming 10 guys in the Rule V draft. Makes more sense than what I have been thinking.

Everyone’s overthinking it. Aside from Wright, everyone else taken off were either going to be non-tendered anyway, trending towards AAA depth status, or already there and easily replaceable on minors contracts. The only thing odd is the timing for the last group, but they were going to be gone anyway once the 40-man space was needed, this just accelerates the process.

I can see AA going after a few free agents for pitching depth and a couple outfielders and utility infielder type players. Maybe a couple trades if he doesn’t find what he is satisfied with on the free agent market. A return of Rosario could also be possible.
The Braves are in win now mode with an extra 14 million dollars to play around with. That doesn’t seem like enough to sign a lot of big players and I’m not a Braves fan who believes Ohtani is coming in. Realistically, probably Gray is a potential target and then we get some other players on lesser deals or trade.
With Grissom and some near ready mlb pitching on hand, the Braves could just role with what they have into spring training and then make some additions following the cuts of veterans after spring training to add additional depth. Most of their roster is set in the field and it would be wise not to commit a lot of money to free agents if you see if Grissom can handle left in the spring. He is a SS so I am sure he can learn LF if he gets in some reps.
As far as the rule 5 draft, the Braves may take a couple of pitchers from the minors and see if they can carry them on the roster, but the Braves hardly ever try this strategy. I see them going after a Senzel, Lewis reclamation project for the OF and maybe use Senzel as INF utility type though.

I get that its going to take a decent offer for Soto. But giving up anything significant value for 1 year and 30+ mil towards your payroll for teams who have multiple positions to fill is suicidal for an organization. You know Boras is going to have Soto hit the Market, so there is no chance of an extension
I think the Betts deal is great comp.

Great chat Mark!
AA is a genius. Mark Shapiro is not. He let AA go for stupidity reasons because Shapiro wanted control and didn’t want to pay him.
If AA is getting rid of non-tender type Atlanta players, there is a reason. Trust in AA.
