Some Cubs media seem to think Wesneski, Assad, and Wicks are really hot properties for trade. Do you think other teams’
executives think so highly of them, or any of them?
Franco27
Assad was mostly very good after the first month in BP and as a starter. More of a 5th starter type, but has value. Wicks was a former 1st round pick that had all good starts except one. Wesneski was mostly a disappointment in my opinion, but has the stuff to rebound.
drasco036
I don’t really see the Cubs dealing any of those guys.
Wesneski, imo, isn’t a starter. He lacks the command but his “stuff” is electric. He’s best suited in a bullpen role where guys only see him once and on occasion.
Wicks and Assad I see in swing/back of the rotation roles with upside. I’m not a guy who thinks stuff relates to success but I don’t see either being cleaver and/or deceiving with good enough control to be Top of Rotation types.

Tepid tradeables at best. Even in a collective package, I would think they wouldn’t garner much of a staggering “upgrade”
All 3 are serviceable pieces on almost any roster, but nobody would want to give too much for them. Dime-a-dozen types.

E-6 on Gwynning. I thought I hit reply to Alan53 but I guess I booted the ball! Let’s turn two and go to bat!

I watched a speedrun of Metroid (NES) the other night. Did you know it was directed by “Yamamoto”? Obviously the same 25 year old pitcher being posted. Metroid was released in August 1986 so that would have made the baseball player -12 while directing Metroid. Obviously the same guy.
Subatomicbunt
Super Mario 3 is the only NES speed run worth watching!
Gwynning
I read this whilst speedrunning the new COD haha
Subatomicbunt
Hahahahaha!!!
Hemlock
Yeah I watch Mario 3, too. Kirua vs MFP was great until Kirua retired and Mitch lost his competition.
Alan53
Agree. Shills like Bleacher Nation’s Brett Taylor ALWAYS overrate Cubs’ young pitchers and then are surprised when the staff goes south in September.

I agree with Steve that Cleveland would not want a short-term asset for Bieber. I disagree with him, however, that Verdugo is a fit for the Guardians. Cleveland has little need for another left-handed hitter that struggles with lefty pitching.
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Some of these people are OUT OF THEIR MINDS overrating their own players. Kepler/Polanco for Kirby ??? Those two guys usually spend about 40% of the season injured. They are marginal pieces, you couldn’t trade those two guy’s for one of Kirby’s cleats. And then what was it,…Morel & a prospect for Logan Gilbert?? Guffaw. Eyeroll Face Slap Forehead. I mean, don’t these people have any objective sense about how to value their own players?? These offers were getting into the Greg Bird & Clint Frazier for Kevin Gausman territory. SMH!!!
Fever Pitch Guy
Ignorant – The overrating typically occurs because their favorite team’s front office, announcers and reporters often overhype the home team’s prospects.
Can’t say I blame them, it’s good business to boost the trade value of your players.
SI
Mariners have no business trading Gilbert unless they pillage a team’s controlable studs. They also have no business trading 6 controlable years of Miller or Woo unless they get impact bat with 3 to 4 years of control.

Bryan Woo for Polanco + Emmanuel Rodriguez.
SI
Might be closer. But just like the Twins, Ms are looking to compete and prefer MLB pieces.
3768902
Bryan Woo for Polanco + Emmanuel Rodriguez + Ed Julien. Or is that still too light?
SI
I think Minny says no to that. But Ms would say yes. Ms could use an upgrade at 2B . But i think they are content with Rojas and Cabby/ Bliss platoon.
