Over the weekend, MLB Trade Rumors celebrated its 18th birthday! MLBTR just went and bought its first pack of smokes.
18 years is a long time, especially for an internet business. I’ve seen a lot of other sites come and go, change ownership, and move into gambling. But we’re still doing what we always have. We put all worthy MLB trade and free agency news in one place. We’ve perfected the art of getting news up quickly while still supplementing with tons of our own context and analysis. This is not an easy job, as our writers Steve Adams, Anthony Franco, Darragh McDonald, Mark Polishuk, Nick Deeds, and Leo Morgenstern could tell you.
That’s our entire writing team here at MLB Trade Rumors. October and November are big months for high-quality original work at MLBTR. We just completed Offseason Outlook posts for all 30 teams. We published Matt Swartz’s widely-used arbitration projections. And today, we unveiled our Top 50 MLB Free Agents list, complete with contract and team predictions and 20,000+ words of analysis.
There are long-term ups and downs with any business. 2023 has been a down year: our revenue is down over 23%, to be particular. MLBTR has historically been primarily ad-supported, and that will continue. But ads are not always a reliable source of revenue, which is why I launched our Trade Rumors Front Office subscription service during the pandemic in 2020.
With Trade Rumors Front Office, we’ve created another revenue source to help ensure MLBTR’s longevity and independence. In doing so I wanted to be sure to provide great value to those who subscribe. I think we have been successful at that. Here is what $29.89 per year gets you:
- Removal of ads on MLB Trade Rumors and in our app
- Exclusive weekly hot stove articles from expert MLB writers Steve Adams and Anthony Franco
- Exclusive member-only online chats with Anthony Franco every week
- MLB Contract Tracker: a high-powered tool featuring more than a decade of free agent contracts and extensions
- MLB Agency Database: agencies for more than three-quarters of those who played in MLB in the last three seasons, compiled from industry sources
Your subscription supports MLBTR directly, and we offer a 100% money-back guarantee. Subscribe to Trade Rumors Front Office today. And we hope you enjoy our Top 50 Free Agents list!
Everyone with the financial needs to do so should subscribe to Front Office. On top of all the things they listed, You get access to insightful NFL and NBA articles as well, and Tim always goes out of his way to find extra benefits to give to subscribers
You guys have always provided great quick reporting and analysis. Been following for about 12 years now and you’re always my first stop for MLB news and rumors. Thanks for all that you do!
Quick reporting? They literally still haven’t even posted about Counsell lmfao
Maybe you should read the posts from like 6 hours ago…
I think this is trolling since you posted it in multiple places? But if not here’s the link from 1:25pm central time.
mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/cubs-to-hire-craig-coun…
I think he’s trying to show him the article, just in case he’s not a troll, but is truly just not seeing it.
Cards – Exactly, it’s always better to give the benefit of the doubt … sometimes it is easy to miss an article because there’s so much content, especially this time of year.
deGrom – We sadly live in a world where people will make false accusations, intentional or not, and if you don’t prove the accusations are false there will inevitably be some people who will believe the accusations.
With that said, if the accuser doesn’t post an apology to Tim then I’d ban the accuser’s ass!
You all do an exceptional job. While there are so many other baseball sites out there, I always start my day by waking up and checking this app for the latest. The content is expansive, reliable, credible, timely and doesn’t miss an angle. Thank you for such great work.
Tim, what kind of smokes? Or was it one of them newfangled Vapes?
In all seriousness, love y’all’s work. This is a great site
I’m assuming Lucky Strikeouts.
I check the site several times a day primarily for baseball. However, I check out football and periodically basketball. I receive periodic emails regarding extras and never extraneous advertising. The product is an exceptional value. Thanks for everything!
I’ve been reading the site since almost the beginning, check it religiously, and subscribe. The content is first class and always has been.
I’ve been a subscriber for over a year and it’s a wonderful investment. In addition to baseball, I appreciate your hockey coverage. Both are first rate. As a Cardinals and Blues fan, I often come here first, because you have been known to scoop the local media. Thanks for all you do!
You guys are 1 of only 3 baseball sites I pony up dough for. Happy to be a paying customer!
Congratulations! I check your site several times a day. If it’s whispered, we hear it….
Now, Mr. Dierkes, if you can tell me what site(s) you recommend for those of us that are the “all ballparks tour”, I would be happy. Again, thanks for your site!
Congrat, and thanks for keeping the great game of baseball alive!
This is my go-to site not only for baseball, but football as well. It’s always the first place I check for the latest news and the soon to come “Top 50 FAs” is the best one I’ve seen.
Nothing like the days of smashing F5 on Trade deadline day and then refreshing to see any last minute deals that take 30-60 min to get information. Simpler times.
I’m only here for the free cake! What gives Tim?
Happy 18th year of being a classy site for rumors!
Thanks Tim! The ultimate site for the baseball fix!
You make it easy.
Congratulations.
Well worth the money. Insightful articles and analysis. I have subscribed since Day 1, I think. Love supporting the little guys! Keep grinding.
Nice ! Been here since the Beginning. !
Past your prime. Can’t even provide updates on simple stories like Counsell going to the Cubs or the Mets new hire.
Twitter has made this site obsolete for years
Confused – you’re talking about these stories from six hours ago?
mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/cubs-to-hire-craig-coun…
mlbtraderumors.com/2023/11/mets-to-hire-carlos-men…
Tim – We all know this is the best place for lightning fast news reporting, and it’s very much appreciated.
You’ve proven Hank’s accusations are false, he owes you an apology. If he doesn’t apologize then he doesn’t deserve to post here IMO.
Twitter itself is obsolete, but I did read where this site offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Maybe just ask for a refund and stop using your mom’s cushions as a tissue.
lmao. that guys a tool… well, I was trying to type troll, but auto correct actually got one right
Fix your front page then. This is a top story and it’s nowhere to be found. An unlisted link might as well not even exist.
Hank.. You’re lost as last year’s Easter eggs.
Just want to say thanks for keeping the site running. Always my first stop online in the morning, and there is always a good read to start my day. Keep up the great work <3
heres my thank you to the team of excellent writers here that keep us updated whether the stove is cold or hot. you guys do great work, i know im not the only person who reads your guys’ content multiple times daily
Hockey stuff is good, too. One of the few sites that’s not all Maple Laffs all the time and knows what what a salary cap is.
This site rocks! I don’t know where I’d be without it!
Tim, you folks do great work.
But are you ever going to fix the Mute feature on the phone app? I’d be more likely to pay if I didn’t have to see a few of the more egregious trolls.
I had the same issue… and deleted the app. I just visit the site through my browser now and everything is hunky-dory. I can Mute and Upvote to my heart’s content!
I’ve been an avid reader of this site for 15+ years and a Front Office subscriber for a couple of years now.
While I’m not an active poster or participant in the live chats, I absolutely love this site and would urge anyone who loves baseball and has the means to be a Front Office subscriber to please do so. Tim and his staff provide a great service for baseball fans! Thanks guys!
Cubs bias is a very real thing on this site
Congrats on reaching adulthood!
Discovered this site several years ago now and been an avid reader since.
Keep up the good work.
Isn’t the legal age to buy cigs 21 now? Nonetheless, thank you for all of your hard work into building such a great site!
I miss the 3 name hyphen writer guy from the bluejays! Crazy to think I was 22 when this I first found this site.
Congratulations!
