I think Darragh is trying to get a job in some team’s front office. Because most teams seem to also think that the manager’s importance is overrated.

Also, the Cardinals have no need for Ty France. He would only complicate an already crowded position player field. Pitchers only please.
DarkSide830
The Cardinals have no use for a recent All Star? Erm…

M’s fan here. Why would anyone trade for a 1B who cant hit, cant play defense, and cant run? I get that he hit some home runs as recently as last year but his obp and slug have been trending down on a 3 year trend. He’s just not good anymore. Bounceback to a 125 OPS+ guy seems unlikely IMO.

I liked the part where he announced mid chat that he doesn’t actually have enough time to learn up on teams.
Stevil
Well, he was honest. Many of the questions suggested the fans didn’t do much research, either.
Del Griffith
Yep, just a pretty blah chat all around. I walked away with no interesting insights about a team in an interesting position.

And that’s how Mariner fans feel about the team. They have the bones of a good team, but a front office not willing to try any harder. They tinker around the edges, but unless the talent is coming through the minors, they aren’t going to fork over for it. This team is in a enviable position, but we tell us after failing to sign or trade for any notable talent that they tried. That the market was crazy or that it didn’t fit their system. Its sad that we can write the story to the press conference already and about how the cast off no one else wanted is the key player they have been missing to put this team over the top.

Impact 2B bat to trade for:
Polonco-possible
Torres(NYY)-expensive in talent
STL young INF(not edman)
Lowe-TB- hi K rate
Kim-SD-fleece SD again?
Adames(Mil)- will he play 2B? 20hr+
Cinn has some young guys that can play 2B-Steer(played all over the Diamond), McLain (but not India) and they need pitching. Steer and McLain for Miller, Woo, Marco(Sea eats almost all $ to entice Cinn.
Ozzie-back the truck up and load it with Prospects.
McNeil-solid all around, go big on OF.
Drurry-somewhat local boy. 20+ hr last 2 years. cheap. 31yo
vikingbluejay67
Ha! Can’t believe the A’s received more votes to win the division than the Angels…poor Angels fans.

Dorktown Mariners is an annual preseason ritual for me. “The Seattle Mariners aren’t a baseball team. They’re protagonists.”

Travel is another reason free agents might prefer somewhere else. The Mariners spend the most time in the air by quite a bit.

It’s funny that there are still people talking about extensions for Gilbert, Kirby, and Raleigh.
They’ve obviously already tried, they arguably don’t need to extend pitchers knowing they can develop them, and Cal is a Boras client. An extension is even less likely with him.
good vibes only
Way too early to be talking extensions for those guys. All of them under affordable team control for a long time.

Unless Ohtani is landed, M’s fans aren’t going to like the results of this offseason. Bliss/Rojas/Moore/Caballero is good enough that they probably won’t find it practical to trade for an upgrade at 2b. There aren’t bats worth signing this year to replace Teo, unless you believe in Bellinger’s resurgence after 3 almost unplayable off-years, or re-sign Teo himself. Trading Gilbert for a bat is a hard way to get better.

The rumors and comments about trading gilbert are nonsense. What are they gonna replace him with (innings wise)?
Sign snell? For big money,
good vibes only
I think you are correct. I dont think there are bats available to make trading a horse like Gilbert worth it, either. If they whiff on Ohtani they might even take another step back next year, assuming Teo is also gone.
marinersblue96
I would be ok with signing Bellinger. He can play RF and 1B and give Julio a spell in CF when needed.
And if we were to trade Gilbert to a team like St Louis then it would be an minimum of a package like Jordan Walker, Masyn Winn and another couple of prospects in their 15 to 20 range(not that I want to trade Gilbert, but it would have to be a monster deal).
Bookbook
The dream is that the prospects start breaking down the door. But that’s probably a 2025 thing, even if all the development goes well.
