Are you sure you won’t break the internet when all the Oakland A’s fans sign into this chat? 😉

Hernaiz (Oak) and Prieto (StL). I’m happy for them! Caught up in that log jam of infield inventory in Baltimore, they got new life.
They’ll be in the Show and soon. Favorite offensive stat of both? Low K rate guys.
Orioles got the lessor in these deals.

Hernaiz might be a useful major leaguer but Prieto will not.
AAA caught up to him. Very little power, no versatility, no defense, and no speed. Flaherty was a flat zero so yeah we definitely lost. But I highly doubt we lose anything.
The only one that I think has any chance is Showalter. But that’s just because he’s so young and far off that the range of outcomes is pretty wide at this point. Rom is nothing but a depth starter til he’s out of options.

Strow, agree to disagree on Prieto. I’ve seen him play in person. Refuses to let the pitcher beat him. He will put the ball in play at Show level. I do agree that his technique at turning 2, is pedestrian at best.
And agree to disagree on Flaherty too. Another low k rate guy. Puts the ball in play. Also drives in runs. Rather have him at bat in key playoff game spot than let’s say a Henderson of high K rate ilk.

Flaherty? Ryan?
I was talking about Jack. We lost the Cardinals trade unless Flaherty does something spectacular in the playoffs. I don’t think anything we gave up amounts to much at all. But we’ve gotten almost nothing from Flaherty.
Hanser Alberto is good at putting the ball in play too but he doesn’t make a lot of impact contact and never walks.
That’s Prieto without the defensive versatility. We wont know for sure for a few years but we can circle back to this. Prieto will be a 0 at the ML level.
Hernaiz could be a loss. I think he has solid some super utility guy upside. Given what was blocking him here—we won’t feel the loss much. But it would’ve been nice to get a more useful player than Cole Irvin.
BrianStrowman9
But I shouldn’t be so definitive. Prieto chases way too many pitches. He’s great at putting the bat to the ball so he doesn’t k much but he doesn’t have a great handle of the zone. I followed a lot of his AAA work once he was traded and he really fell off. Maybe he corrects that and becomes some sort of platoon option for a bit.
I don’t think that he or Rom will amount to much though. If we lost anything it’s gonna be Showalter. He’s a long way off and might flame out but that’s the only real loss I could see.
We would’ve been better off having them all. (With the benefit of hindsight) because Flaherty stunk it up after his first start.

Oops, my bad on the Flaherty, Frazier mix up!
Agree on Rom.
Hmm. I see your point with Prieto. I’m chewing on it!
Cheers!
