Those Orioles announcers… eh national announcers were so depressed Texas was winning. It makes the win even more fun. At least, they pointed out that Seager did something even Bonds didn’t do: walk 5 times in a postseason game (most by anyone ever).

Counterpoint: It’s time for the baseball world to finally learn about how Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman are stars. Nobody had ever heard about them before this series
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
Adley is probably underrated, but Gunnar Henderson was one of the most hyped prospects in 2022 and has been seen as a clear front-runner for RoY since the season began, even as Jung won back-to-back rookie of the month awards. The farm does get its hype. They probably don’t get quite the attention the Braves do, but that’s because they have gotten very lucky in 1-run games this year. I’m sure 95% of fans knew who Gunnar was, and Adley, while more developed and deserving, probably got some amount of recognition. Keep in mind that Texas got so many guys to start the ASG only because Toronto nominated their guys, so it basically turned into a Canada vs US thing, at which point US had way more fans.

Nope. They were completely unknown. Joe Davis even said so on the broadcast
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
Joe Davis is a clueless fool, just like Smoltz. National broadcasters are paid to worship certain East Coast teams (mainly New York ones). MLB prospect pipeline, Fangraphs, ESPN, Baseball America, and many other sites have written extensively about Henderson. Thr number 1 pick in the draft, Adley, also certainly wasn’t unheard of. “Joe Davis said so” isn’t a real comment

I’d even wager to say they are the two greatest unknown finds in draft history, if not the greatest players in history. MLB.com and ESPN said so. That’s why they’ve done so much winning this postseason

He was a top 5 prospect back-to-back-to-back seasons by all 3 major publications. That just doesn’t align with what you are saying. Gunnar Henderson? Top 100 by all 3 and then consensus #1. The youth definitely helped with wins, but those guys were never unknown to being with. Maybe, some other guys like Kjerstad, Cano, or Bautista may fall in that category. Kerp in mind Piazza and Pujols were drafted very late as well. Adley isn’t overrated, but 99.99% of people following minor league baseball have heard of Gunnar.

There’s another unheard of guy in their farm system, Jackson Holliday, who was a literal nobody that no prospect publication knew about when the Orioles drafted him. In fact, he had never even picked up a bat before, and now he’s a surefire hall of famer because he hit a lot of groundballs for singles in A-ball. All that was possible because the Orioles are the greatest franchise of all time and have never had a losing season, and now they are on the brink of a World Series title. John Smoltz even said so on the broadcast

Anybody who follows baseball knows who those two guys are, what are you talking about? Very hyped within the sport. Yeah Joe Schmoe Sports Fan who just jumps on bandwagons and lives to snark on Twitter wouldn’t know them.

Sons of former All-Stars are overrated. See Vlad Guerrero and Little Biggio.

Apparently some here can’t recognize sarcasm very well.
Ignorant Son-of-a-b
Sorry Fletch, I am a little slow on the uptake. Your sarcasm has now dawned on me.

It took a minute to sink in, that’s for sure. Maybe, as the kids say, it’s time for me to go touch some freakin grass.
Longtimecoming
To say Piazza was drafted “late” is the understatement of the century!
LordD99
Everyone knows who they are.

Henderson was overrated before he even got to bat for the first time and by mid-May he was already a “lock” for Rookie of the Year. Most hyped .255 hitter in the history of the game.

Adley’s a winner. There’s an intangible quality to his persona outside of his physical gifts that’s unique.

Dylan Cease seems like an overpay for India.

Just a quick observation re: the Berrios Decision. If you want to see an example of the right way to do that, see Rob Thompson & Ranger Suarez in Game 1 of the NLDS. Rob got buy-in and understanding from everyone (except Ranger) that he would be pulling Ranger in the 4th inning regardless of how he was pitching. So when it happened there were no surprises & nobody was spooked. The Athletic had an excellent rundown on the Phillies thinking behind this, very much recommended.

Trading Eury for either one of the Pittsburgh catchers would cause all 17 Marlins fans to riot.

You are confusing Florida with California here…

I just want to know who Miami is giving up to get Herrera. I’d rather see Knizner go and Herrera back up. unless it’s decent pitching, he won’t be in Miami.

If the Red Sox hire Eddie Romero as a puppet for Cora it will be a disgrace.Sam Kennedy guaranteed a thorough search so if the plan all along was to appease Cora then be Honest with the fans and stop the charade. The Red Sox should definitely hire someone from the outside and give that person full Autonomy.

If Stroman opts in, the Cubs should absolutely either trade him or Hendricks. They have plenty of depth with Ben Brown, Cade Horton and Jordan Wicks who should all be looked at for the fifth starter spot. They also have Smyly, Assad and Wesneski as options.
If Ross could manage people properly, he would know Smyly is best serviced as a swingman or possibly be looked at in a six man rotation. The guy clearly needs extra rest, wether that is managing his time with IL stints for dead arm, cycling him through the bullpen or as a sixth starter.

He said “Arthur fists”… that just made me laugh.
