Can this site please stop pushing the “Kershaw to Rangers” narrative this offseason?
gbs42
Hey, anything is possible.
brewsingblue82
You mean the obvious narrative that if he pitches anywhere but the dodgers it’d be for them because they’re the closest team to his home? It’s not like they’re pushing a false narrative like him going to the Red Sox or something.

You mean like the obvious narrative that Gerrit Cole would sign with the Angels cuz he’s from OC and Patrick Corbin would sign with the Yankees cuz he’s from NY and Stephen Strasburg would sign with the Padres cuz he’s from San Diego and Zack Wheeler would sign with the Braves cuz he’s from Georgia and… and…

There was speculation by a former teammate that the only other team Kershaw would play for besides the Dodgers is the Rangers. He lives a few miles from the ballpark, he’s nearing retirement and may want to be closer to home…it’s a rumor at MLB Trade RUMORS.

Kershaw said himself that he’s going to be a Dodgers lifer. He was never going to sign with the Rangers.

And as for “This is MLB Trade RUMORS.” I hate to sound like ookashfa but this isn’t exactly a TRADE rumor.

Steve’s polite response in regards to the article about a potential Trout trade is hilarious. He clearly meant to say “Bob is an idiot, don’t believe anything he writes”

Strength of their core?

Yeah, I wrote that question and was surprised by that bit. Maybe Cease finds his 2022 form again, but Vaughn hasn’t progressed, Moncada is a good defender, but little else, and TA seems more like a cancer than anything. Plus, he forgot how to hit this year. With Liam out next year, I really don’t get where this core strength is or why they should keep Robert if he’s about 2/3 of that strength.

He’s completely wrong about the Cubs pitching. Hendricks will be gone and the Cubs have plenty of pitching coming. To sign more FA pitching will take more money and years than they’re worth. Everyone wants the Cubs to spend this off season. The smart move is stay the course and they did the right thing giving kids the chance to compete in a playoff race. If for some reason they need a P they can get one at the deadline or before, That will be on an expiring deal because they have the farm system to get whatever they want short term. The Cubs pitching question is totally the wrong way to go..

We are complete king disagreeing on Hendricks but I could easily see the Cubs standing pat this off-season as far as free agents go, Wicks has looked great so far, Steele has the inside track for the cy young, Hendricks will be out veteran presence, Tailon will be a rebound candidate and I think Brown/Assad/Wesneski (I think he’s a reliever) Smyly can hold down the 5 hole/long relief until the trade deadline.
I still say Bellinger is a must keep. The free agent market is too thin and offense is our biggest weakness. I’m not ready to my eggs in the Canario/Mervis basket.
Unclemike1525
As much as I would love to see Belli back, It’ll cost a fortune and keep Belli at 1B if PCA is going to be elevated. I’ve always loved Bellinger but that price tag will be exorbitant and I fear will eventually prove to be a burden maybe. I hope I’m wrong about that as I love the player, But strap in I think that’s gonna be a wild ride that Jed and Carter might not want to ride on.

I’m curious what his contract will be, I was thinking 27.5×7 and maybe 32.5 million for the first two years with an opt out.

As an M’s fan, I couldn’t agree more with Steve regarding Raleigh being hugely underrated. Maybe not THE most underrated player, but c’mon, he’s a switch hitting power bat with about league average AVR/OBP (maybe not in your fantasy league but in real-life), he is a monster behind the plate in blocking pitches and framing, a cannon arm with accuracy, great with the pitchers and true leader of the staff, beloved and respected by the entire team and coaching staff. I think after some national exposure in the the playoffs he will be recognized as the true overall stud that he is. He’s the man.
