In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
When is MLB.com coming out with the post-draft prospect rankings.
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani

Idk about MLB.com but some sports rags have released their “updated rankings”
I abhor B/R but Joel is their only decent MLB writer, he had a recent write up.

It’s out now.

They are quite Hugh on Salas based on decent offensive numbers and a low 20s baserunner throw-out rate. Langford, on the other hand, should be significantly higher than Jenkins and Clark, not to mention Carter, who a guy for MLB.com said would likely place below Langford. I also don’t understand how a 3 pitch future reliever with a flat fastball is considered the best draft prospect since Strasburg.

According to MLB.com, towards the end of this week

The O’s commentator suspension couldn’t have been handled worse. He was highlighting their struggles in an attempt to build drama for the matchups viewers were about to tune into. If facts are hard to swallow, change them with a win. As good as the team has gotten, O’s ownership still showing the same ole stripes.

Well said, Mr. Adams, in regards to ERod’s decision to decline trade proposal:
“He exercised one of those rights that he earned. I don’t think it’s anyone’s place to fault him for that or wish him ill because of it. I don’t know how much time his family spends in Detroit. I don’t know the specifics of his marital issues. I don’t know what’s going on in his head.
I know he’s a human being who earned the right to say “I don’t want to be traded to one of these teams” if such a trade was presented, and he exercised that right. That’s good enough for me”

To me most sense is that from baseball contract perspective he’s better off with Tigers in the weakest hitting division by far. Why risk getting blown up in a stronger hitting division with more publicity and pressure. If he failed in LA it would be tougher to opt out. He’s having a good season why mess with it.

Leave it to a Dodger fan to say something like that – just can’t accept that a guy just didn’t want to play for the Dodgers? Trea Turner 2.0.
mlbdodgerfan2015
Stick to the facts. Most athletes are competitors. When presented with an opportunity to play with a playoff team they’ll jump at that. Dodgers or not. We know from past and this story that ERod is different. From a de-risk perspective it makes perfect sense for him to do what he did. Dodgers or another team.

Stick to the facts he says, just before he speculates. That’s rich.

On Bally Sports Detroit they reported ERod said he was willing to play for the Dodgers but once the trade was made ERod wanted one additional year added by the Dodgers for $20m. Dodgers said no. The deal fell thru.
bhambrave
That would have been a fair compromise. I’m surprised LA wasn’t willing to do that. But then, they’d have had to offer more in the trade. They were probably trying to get him on the cheap.
mlbdodgerfan2015
Have heard the same. No one has really been able to confirm though. If true you see how he’s think this through. Opportunity to play for a winning organization is really low on priority. Everything points to de-risking even though he has three additional seasons already banked. He’s sure not thinking if I’m great with Dodgers I could win a WS, opt out and get paid with one last big contract, and even if I don’t I can still opt out and make great money or in worst case scenario no opt-out and three years remaining. And if so, what happened to wanting to stay closer to family reason?
bhambrave
Maybe he wasn’t willing to move unless he got a really big bonus. That’s legit. You’re trying to read his mind, and you can’t. You’re also letting your Dodger blue beer bottles color your vision.

“opportunity to play for a winning org” — la-dee-dah. Eduardo has just as many rings as Kershaw and his cute mini-season ring.

I’ve got a possible solution for Javy Baez. Go see hitting guru Richard Schneck. He’s the guy who made Aaron Judge and Kerry Carpenter. Dude needs to scrap everything he knows and does and start over. Otherwise, he’ll have to live with the fact that a last place team fired him and paid him $90 million or so to go away.
Roll
i wish i could live with the fact some team or someone paid me 90 mil or so to go away 🙁

Why do Orioles fans hate Mateo so much?
Smacky
Pretty sure the E-Rod thing is he didn’t want to go to LA and get hurt and have to pick up his option meaning he’d be stuck somewhere he doesn’t want to be for 3 more years.

Poor guy would have to play meaningful games and make an impact.

Not all ballplayers are ultra-competitive & want to play on championship level teams. There are ballplayers who are naturally gifted athletes who made a decision to play baseball because it’s easy for them & they don’t have to work hard at it. Well, they don’t have to work hard at it until they turn a certain age; they lose a step, their fastball velocity is down 2 or 3 mph, they get injured …oops all of a sudden now they have to work at it…and they just could care less. I am thinking of you Anthony Rendon, thinking of you Jesse Winker, and even a legend like Felix Hernandez who lost the zip on his fastbal at age 32 and refused to learn how to reconfigure his approach and pitch like a crafty veteran. It all comes so easy for them , until it doesn’t.
