“That guy needs to hit the gym” – MLB Network’s Anthony Recker on Alek Manoah.
RunDMC
Another reason why TOR needs to trade for Tyler O’Neil.
He’ll show Alex to the gun show.
Waymann
It seems a lot of people at the time didn’t account for that Recker’s comment was in the context of a “which of these starters would you build around?” themed segment. In other words, a “put your GM cap on” style segment.
It wasn’t even that harsh a criticism from what I remember…more like a “if I’m specifically looking for things to gripe about…” type of comment that was well within the context of the overall segment they were doing.

He needs to drop 50 pounds of Horse Manoah.
Captain-Judge99
Not if there is any hot fudge around, down there in Florida for Mr. Fat Boy Slum Monoah. He’s not going to lose 50lbs, phat chance!

Do I drop or hold Manoah in fantasy baseball? He was rated pretty high on my cheat sheet and suppose to be my top pitcher. 🙁
Smacky
I play exactly zero fantasy sports. That said, you prob should quit fantasy baseball if that’s what your “cheat sheet” said to do re pitching.

In the terrible NL Central, the Brewers will have to be at least 8-10 games out at the deadline to more Burnes, which is extremely unlikely to happen. There will be more teams to shop to in the offseason anyhow

They did just trade Hader last year while leading (IIRC) the division. Similar situation with Burnes, having 1 year left after this..AND any hurt feelings he still might have over the arbitration stuff last winter.

They were likely to make Williams the closer. It wouldn’t made sense to keep Hader at that point.
AlBundysFanClubPresident
It was then, like it is with Burnes, all about the finances. If it was as simple as ‘they were ready to hand the job to Williams’ then why did the entire world flip out when it happened? The Brewers can’t (or won’t) pay Burnes market value, so they’d be wise to get some assets in return, whether it’s pre-deadline or this winter.

Baseball teams are businesses, so yes, it will always be about finances.
pdxbrewcrew
It’s pretty much a given that Burnes will be traded in the coming off-season. The question is will they trade him during the season. And, as the original comment said, unless the Brewers are way out of it at the deadline, Burnes is NOT being traded during the season.
BrianStrowman9
Hader wasn’t right in Milwaukee last year either. He needed to be recalibrated. Obviously Sdp worked that out with him but he was brutal during the regular season. Not sure it would’ve made a difference.
They indirectly got their starting catcher for this year and likely beyond by sending him away also.

I think De La Cruz and the Pirates O’Neill Cruz must have been separated at birth. They resemble each other in numerous ways

With the difference being one is a good player and one isn’t

Ok, I’ll bite
Don’t think I’d characterize either as a good or bad major leaguer but I guess you have a crystal ball

Both are freakishly athletic and talented according to statcast. Now their play, on the other hand, is tbd. Oneill played decent in what short time he has gotten, EDLC is the most hyped prospect in a year or two, and has been decent in the two games we’ve seen him. I agree and was thinking the same thing, the similarities are shocking.

There is a great article on CBS sports. 20 players who had their Hall of Fame careers derailed by injury. Degrom, Strasburg, Mattingly, Will Clark, Pedroia, Wright, Garciaparra, Tulowitzki, Murphy, Hershiser, Valenzuela…
Check it out.

Dale Murphy’s career was derailed by injury if that’s who you’re referring to.

Is it true that Manoah cut himself shaving this morning and bled gravy?
