People need to stop asking where Ohtani will be on August 1st. If you think he’s going to be anywhere but in an Angels jersey, you’re delusional. You don’t trade a fan favorite, one who has literally all the top stats (last I checked) in both batting and pitching, besides saves — especially when the team is still very much in the hunt. Astros and Rangers have been weak lately, and although the Angels haven’t *quite* capitalized on those weaknesses, they haven’t wilted, either.
Longtimecoming
Kellin – I tend to agree with you that the won’t trade him for the reasons you stated. However, consider the negative ramifications toward ownership and the team when they don’t trade him (missing out out the presumptive grand haul of maybe all time) and then don’t make the playoffs (or get beat in WC round even) AND he leaves in free agency.
Wow – monumental missed opportunities and a fan base that will turn to “you should have traded him”.

I think the fanbase would be more mad if they didn’t go for it (unless they’re WAY out of contention). Might be the Angels only slim chance at getting Trout a ring
Big Hurt
People need to keep asking Chris Flexen questions if they want to be answered lol. Really – two questions about a pitcher with a 7.71 ERA who doesn’t below in the big leagues, and nothing on many of the interesting topics like which of the crap players will the White Sox trade? Come on man.

I did ask a question regarding white sox crap but clearly it wasn’t selected
Big Hurt
Same.
Fever Pitch Guy
Old guy- Maybe because you might have asked the same White Sox question I did, whether Risberg could have made a better effort to catch Cicotte’s throw in the World Series.

On Bieber, considering the number of really bad starters out there, he is still a valuable commodity. On Guardians making a mlb ready player trade? Not likely. They’ll give Gonzales one more chance and bring up valara soon enough. Arias loses his spot. I can imagine Kwan , valara and a brennan/Gonzales platoon in right with straw off the bench. Maybe Rosario sits in favor of freeman. No big trade coming.

Mr. Adams response on Hendricks highlights my stance that the host of these chats know more about baseball than the average fan but less about individual teams.
The Cubs do not care if Hendricks only strikes out 4 per 9. Their team pitching philosophy is to be more aggressive and efficient, induce weak contact and that stellar defense (Mancini not withstanding) make the plays behind you.
Gomes and Barnhart are both really good at game planning, really good at reading swings so they can call pitches and locations to keep hitters off balance.
With that said, I have no idea what is wrong with Tailon. He either is hurt and it’s effecting his mechanics, lost confidence in his executing his pitches or just hasn’t bought in to the Cubs philosophy.
