I can’t believe Cardinal Madness complained about
gruber mullet getting to many questions answered lol.
Can’t we all just get along?
gbs42
Maybe Cardinal Madness should ask more interesting questions. Or grow out a mullet.

LOL

*too*

I can’t believe any asked a more stupid question than is Joey Votto a trade target of the Dodgers.
I will say the is though, these chats are like speed dating, they are answering a lot of questions I’m not a lot of time, don’t expect questions that require deep thought to be answered. Also, really don’t ask questions about players who are not very popular because guys just won’t know off the top of their.

I can’t believe that some complain about not having their questions answered in these chats. If you seriously have a question that you want a MLBTR guy’s opinion of, they are very accessible on Twitter and always post their contact info at the end of these chats. If you just want to see your tagname in the chat, then you need to get a life and stop being a whiny little b*tch…..

My record is 4q’s answered and don’t use my posting name.
I only make @1/2 the chats at most and get a q answered like every other one. It’s usually Philly themed q’s or some (as I see it) humour q’s. Simon does a good job and posts the snarky q’s and hands it right back…..
It somehow still blows me away how some people just can’t have a good time with these chats?
gbs42
Some people just need to complain.

I’ve had 3 of 4 questions answered over the last year or so. (They we’re all baseball questions too) They do a great job!

I think verdugo can keep this up, he’s slimmed down and is running much better than he was last year and that’s translating to his defense and he’s already got 1 or 2 infield singles where he just beat the throw

They talk about the Mendoza Line( Named after Light hitting infielder ) .200 Batting Average. How about the Weight Watchers Line. Not Hitting Your Weight Example JUAN SOTO. .171. ???
gbs42
Few still talk about batting average because most acknowledge there are other and better ways to evaluate hitting.

A) Gruber_mullet says,
“Ask better questions if you want your questions picked over mine. This is a socialist chat where we share the wealth.”
Aren’t those two sentences contradictory?
B) I think it would be hilarious/adorable if one person absolutely dominated the chat.

truth – Depending on who is hosting, “better questions” are frowned upon. I’ve noticed Simon, DMC and Mark prefer questions that can be answered easily and with a short response … and questions from non-North-American countries always take precedence.
Whereas some hosts, such as Steve, will select more thought provoking questions that require longer detailed responses.
So basically, the type of questions that get answered depend on who is hosting.

My record is perfect. Zero questions asked, zero questions answered. I am the clarence thomas of mlbtr chats.

Does Tim Dierkes and the rest of the hosts put you up in their lavish homes?
kma
Nah, he just puts the pubic hair on his Coke.

gbs42: In order to win you have to score more runs than you allow. In order to score (other than the mighty HR) you need men on base. So, you need to (a) draw a walk (b) get hit by pitch (c) reach on an error (d) strike out & reach on a passed ball (catcher interference) or (e) GET A HIT.
Batting Average may not be as popular statistic as the Home Run but getting on base is paramount to winning. On Base % or OPS is probably a better metric than avg alone but a decent batting average is still relevant today as it has been in the past. Get’em on, get’em over & get’em home has been the best strategy in baseball since the beginning.
gbs42
Prospect,
I agree BA is as relevant today as it has been in the past. It’s just that we now understand it’s relevance is much lower than it was previously thought to have been.
Need a runner in from third with two outs, particularly late in the game? A hit achieves that while a walk or HBP doesn’t (barring a based-loaded situation), so in that case BA is a valuable stat. Most other times, OBP, SLG, OPS, etc. are better, and by a significant margin.

Thank you for the chat Simon. One point of clarity the Giants do no hold territory rights in Fremont and did not scuttle that ballpark plan. Let’s hope somehow the A’s still are sold and the new owners finally go forward with the new stadium at the current coliseum site which is ready to go.
