As part of our annual Offseason in Review series, MLBTR is hosting team-specific chats in conjunction with each entry as it’s released. Earlier this morning, I published the Rangers installment of the series. After you check that out, click here to read the transcript of our Rangers-centric chat.

Can someone answer this question? If not a writer, fan input would also be appreciated. Top 5 guys to draft for Texas? My top pick is clearly Langford and then some combo of Crews, Dollander, and Clark, with Jenkins as my 5th choice. Any thoughts? I just hope they don’t try to replicate last year and instead choose to draft for need (outfield or starter) since the shortstops’ values are assuming they stay there and would tank in the outfield due to offensive flaws. There is no way Carlos Correa and Corey Seager would have had all that hype if they played the corner outfield.

@degrom imo as fan when you draft in bb you take the best players available regardless of where they play. unlike the other 3 big sports it takes years for draft picks to mature and make an impact right away unless your using them as capital for trades. so if the guys you mentioned are some of the best in this years draft you grab them if you can, plus how often have we seen a player get drafted at one position then end up playing somewhere else by the time they get to the bigs

Those guys are 3, 1, 2, 6, and 7, though Clark may be a high-upside guy with more development needed at 6. I am saying the farm has few outfielders aside from Carter, Zavala, and Harris. Two would likely be traded or bust, and they need 2 guys, plus Garcia’s replacement in 4 years. The infield is locked in for a while, and Huff/Heim can be controlled for a while. They do manage to ruin pitchers by turning high K/BB guys into high BB/K guys, but they have Leiter, Rocker, Porter, and White, along with former top 100 guys Howard and Winn. 1 should become a top starter of those, with 1 decent guy

@degrom yes you might be thin on outfielders but you can always convert guys while there young, plus do you wanna throw away a top pick for an outfielder who isn’t worth the pick for where your picking at? get the best talent available and the rest will work itself out who knows some of that infield capital you have turns into outfielders via trade.
as far as your pitching i see a big jump not because of the names you got but because you have one of the pitching coach in the game most cards fans miss him

Franco and Dierkes (if he does these) are also good.

Well, now I’m hoping Steve Adams does the Reds team preview and chat.
