I predict some tomato sauce versus ketchup debates will happen soon…..

Technically ketchup is a sauce made from tomatoes. They don’t taste that different. At least tomato sauce is better then mayonnaise that I’ve seen other places put on hot dogs.

How about vinegar? I have never put vinegar in tomato sauce but it is a key ingredient in ketchup (along with sugar to balance it out).

Longtime – The absence of vinegar is the main difference between New Zealand tomato sauce and ketchup.
What is called tomato sauce in most countries is pasta sauce in New Zealand.
Don’t know why he didn’t just say tomato sauce is what they call ketchup in his country, especially after he was asked point blank where he got that from.
