Really happy about the Swanson and the Taillon signings. Just hoping to sneak in the playoffs somehow. We’ll see.

Wow it’s Tim Dirks must be the real deal
drasco036
Where’s the “Tim’s the best, he doesn’t have time to answer stupid questions” guy?
Chicago dog or Italian beef?
Tim Dierkes
10:10 Love me a Portillo’s Italian beef with motz, hot peppers on the side
Dogbone
No dipped Portillo or Al’s beef, should EVER be within 25 feet of any motz. Pleeezzzee.
Tim Dierkes

I have the Cubs low water mark set at 77 wins and high water mark at 86 and that is if everything goes extremely well.. meaning if Steele pitches like he did at the end of the year, Hendricks bounces back to a very solid starter, Stro and Tallion both pitch to sun four ERAs, Suzuki develops into a 25-30 home run bat, Swanson stays in the 25 home run zone and Belly blasts about 20 home runs and gets his walk rate back. Also, Happ needs to play at least like he did last season.
Dogbone
I sure like your view of the Cub season, better than Dirkes. In fact I went to the local casino a few weeks ago to put a couple hundred on it.
Dirkes walked around with a cold bucket of water when answering these questions.
He doesn’t seem to have ever watched Wesneski pitch.
Tim Dierkes
Jeez, if you’re gonna insult me at least spell my name right.
Just callin’ ’em like I see ’em! You wouldn’t want me to come in here pushing a bunch of false hope right?
This is a great place for the Dogbone 2023 Hayden Wesneski projection, for posterity’s sake.
Dogbone
Alright Tim, I’ll put it on the table. I believe Wesneski will open as a 5/6 starter. He will have around a 9-7 record with a 3.62 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.
But I guarantee that by the END of the season you will realize he’s a couple cuts above Lucas Giolito. Dubcza. Lol.
Tim Dierkes
While I’d take the over on 3.62, I don’t think we disagree as much as you suggested. There’s nothing crazy about 3.62 for him.
And I just saw that he touched 97 today…if his velo stays up a tick or two from last year’s 92.7, it’s reasonable to raise expectations for him.
Curt85
Yeah, as a Cubs fan that view of the season is great. But then there is reality. I think Dierkes was more than fair in his assessment of everything.

The Cubs will be terrible this year. See ya in 2024! That is all.
