Leody Tavares or Bubba Thompson: who is better?
Ectopic comment deGromster what’s up
Had to look that word up. Ectopic = “occurring in an abnormal position or in an unusual manner or form”
Who says sports fans have limited vocabularies?!
I assumed “Ectopic” was a camera used by the Ghostbusters
That was a quite preternatural and heteromorphic comment. I haven’t seen that word used before.
I think we find that answer this year? I like both, but I’d lean towards wanting Leody (switch-hitter, CFer, more power?!?)
Add Pujols to the HOF list!
Rays new stadium by 2028 LOL!
Players in 2023 who will make the Hall of Fame…
Trout, Cabrera, Verlander, Kershaw, Scherzer, Greinke, Betts, Arenado, Goldschmidt, Altuve, Votto, Machado, Wainright, Harper, Freeman, Ohtani, Bregman, Stanton, Judge, Ramirez, Lindor, deGrom, Devers, Guerrero Jr, Jose Abreu?, Realmuto, Julio Rodriguez.
See my list in 20 years and tell me I’m wrong.
U see Hall of Fame. I see about $10 billion in earnings combined
Wainwright, Bergman, Stanton, Lindor, Devers, and Abreu seem like significant stretches. Goldschmidt is probably the most underrated player in the 21st century. Even as deGrom’s biggest fan on here, that 5.3 strikeout to walk ratio and 2nd lowest career ERA of the expansion era may not be enough due to legit concerns about total innings and illegitimate concerns about how he doesn’t have enough wins. It’s backwards thinking, but that still exists. I’d say Kershaw and then deGrom should be getting 100% and 90% at least, but too many wins guys may screw him over. Also, Yu Darvish? He may be the opposite type, with a relatively high ERA for a HoF type, but with many strikeouts and wins. The same with Scherzer (did you forget him completely?)
Very nice list. I’m not going to peruse every roster to see if anyone is missing. The least likely candidates from this list are Wainwright, Bregman, Abreu, J-Rod (so young), Stanton.
Still have me blocked? Smh
Very little dead-weight on the DBacks 40-man after the Chafin signing; they still need a corresponding move and will have to clear another when Robinson is activated from the Restricted List (and on the off chance a NRI makes it, that’s another roster drop necessary).
The three easiest picks from the non-guaranteed contracts are: Beer, Frias, and Martin, but it’s kind of hard to tell who will be the last one standing. Beer and Frias are technically the more ideal players to hold onto, due to having options.
Alternatively, maybe Melancon is bad enough in ST to warrant cutting ties in lieu of a more favorable option; ultimately either him or Martin has to go if any NRI is to make the bullpen (and Bumgarner is likely to stick for a while by sheer virtue of contract value, or lack thereof).
It should be Chafin at CP with relative certainty (although we’ll see others there), but the last MR and LR roles still up for grabs have more than a handful of intriguing names in the mix. None of this changes the fact that one move has to happen soon, though.
It’s wild what the DBacks bullpen looks like at this point, considering how last season ended; we went from seeing Ginkel/Nelson projected at SU, to seeing them projected in MR (along with one of Castro/McGough). That’s actually a bullpen you can dream on.
Wait is robinson finally coming back?
His probation sentencing was mid-August ’21, so mid Feb ’23 is the timeline; he’ll have to wait a bit for work visa paperwork, but in the meantime Spring Training is unpaid so he should be able to participate in that.
Awesome! Really hoped he could finally make it, is he likely to crack their roster or does he still need another year in the minors after so much missed time?
He still has 2 option years left, so he’s likely to spend time in MiLB reacclimating to game pitching with no rush to keep him up this season.
Does Mark dislike the Cubs?
Whoever your favorite team is, Mark probably dislikes them, except the Blue Jays.
