To follow up on the Cleveland question, I would think Andrew Chafin might be a possibility since he’s determined to stay close to his farm in Massillon, Ohio.

I want him too.

What is with everyone thinking Yelich is an albatross? I get that he’s not close to his MVP level productivity, but nowhere near as bad as say the Chris Davis contract. I think that knee and likely back issues has hindered him, but he’s still getting on base at a fairly decent clip and he was starting to show some line drive power last year from the lead off spot. Sounds like he’s been working hard and doing everything he can to be a good teammate and figure this out. I wouldn’t be shocked if he has a few pretty good years left yet.
I realize at the time they didn’t have to extend him yet, but a club like the Brewers had to strike early if they had a chance to keep a real superstar. If they didn’t and ended up losing him, the fans would’ve been beside themselves (assuming his production didn’t fall off so quickly). I’m looking forward to a good year from him. They’ll likely ease him into the spring, so we won’t know much until May/June.

I mean, it doesn’t HAVE to be Chris Davis level to be considered an albatross, and the fact that Yelich’s salary could very well prevent ownership from spending to address key areas–yea, that could be the definition of albatross. Meanwhile, Cohen and company have a totally different definition of that word–he could sign four players to 30mil+ per season and have them all underperform, and that wouldn’t stop him. Milwaukee doest seem to have that luxury, though.

Albatross- something that greatly hinders accomplishment
If you are using the word correctly, Yelich’s contract is the exact definition of an albatross. It was an albatross when he signed the extension because the Brewers are not a team that can spend that much money for that duration regardless of his production.

Yelich and cash or Yelich and a great reliever for Semien? Maybe Williams – who says no?
