Personally I love the question on if the Mets need Andrew Chafin to “keep up” with the Braves who have about a $100 million dollar smaller payroll.
Snellzilla #7
I agree, it’s amusing.
On another note, you missed your opportunity to say ‘wow’. Can someone please tell me how and why this is/has become a thing on here?
Brew’88
The why is not so simple as the how
CarverAndrews
I actually find it to be incredibly amusing from a human psychology standpoint that someone would lurk on here and focus on getting ready to pounce as quickly as possible when a new story goes up…only to say “wow”. They should look deep into their soul…no, they probably shouldn’t. They might find out that it is empty.

That kid is what the Mute button was made for.
Haven’t seen his schtick in almost 3 weeks now.
A pity others have to copy him or post about him.
If only there was a way that easy to mute the comments and questions about Othani till the day after the 2023 WS is over.

That “wow” thing drives me crazy, so I didn’t partake.
Fever Pitch Guy
Fire – You mean there’s more than one idiot doing it? Now that’s disturbing.
CarverAndrews
We have gas shortages, bread shortages, water shortage and the like, but we will never run out of idiots. For some reason we keep making more of them. Damnedest thing, as there is no demand for them but the supply is never-ending.
brodie-bruce
@carver “it’s because they became a marketing demographic” (comedian chris poter) sadly and unfortunately there will always be idiots and they always yell louder than everyone else and social media doesn’t help much either.
CarverAndrews
Social media is an utter disaster when it comes to idiots. It allowed them to find each other and establish their own echo chamber. Now they think that they are an army of like-minded geniuses.
brodie-bruce
@carver unfortunately what you said is sad but true

“Can the Giants sign Ohtani next year?”
Anyone ‘can’ sign Ohtani. But he’s likely going to want a team with other good players and a strong farm. Giants look like they’re going to stuck in the middle of the division for a while.
Giants wanted DodgersFarhan, got A’sFarhan.

I don’t see how anyone can see Lourdes as an infielder aside from the occasional 1B start. Like Steve said, not only has he played any infield position aside from 1B in three years, the last time he did play was 2019 when he only made nine total appearances at the position. You have to go back to 2018 when he saw any notable amount of time at 2B/SS.
highheat
I don’t know how anyone was talking about playing Lourdes in the IF after Hazen stated that he was viewed as a primary LF.
They already have Rojas/Longoria/Rivera lined up for 3B and the lion’s share of PAs at 2B going to Marte (Rojas/Perdomo get the majority of PAs behind him), with Alexander and Castillo in the wings in case of 2+ 2B/3B injuries simultaneously (or just the extra man come roster expansion).
As far as 1B, obviously Walker gets the majority of play time, but Smith is likely in MLB over Thomas to start the season and looks to be one of the better 1B backup options (with Rivera taking time there as well when called up). I wouldn’t count on seeing Gurriel get too many PAs outside of LF/DH work.
mlb1225
Yeah, it’s not even like Gurriel has played much 1B. I doubt he would even make more than five starts at the position, but is a back-up/emergency option nonetheless. But Gurriel hasn’t played 2B/SS consistently since 2018, and hasn’t even played 3B in the major leagues. Saying that he can play middle infield would be like saying Nelson Cruz can be a semi-regular corner outfielder.

How many total innings postseason included will the Mets get from Schererville and Verlander?
jk
500 to 550
