I would love to see the Padres try to swing a trade with Baltimore for Cedric Mullins…..perfect piece to their puzzle. Leadoff hitter and center fielder who can hit. Don’t know how they would do it, but maybe Ha-Seong Kim, Morejon and one other piece somewhere??
Friarguy19
That would be sweet!
RedFraggle
Why would they want Kim? They have a glut of highly regarded middle infielders in Westburg, Kim, Norby, Mayo, and last years 1st round draft pick, Holliday. Look at all of Elias’ trades. He wants pitchers.
websoulsurfer
Not 100% sure the Padres do a Kim for Mullins swap straight up. Kim is on an upward trajectory and people on the team have said they don’t feel that they have seen the best he has to offer. He was a 5.1 WAR player last season, so surpassing that puts him in rarified air.
Trading him also creates a hole in their IF that would be impossible to fill without making another trade.
I also don’t think Kim is a great trade target for the Orioles either, because he only has 2 years of team control left and the Orioles are not in contend now mode.
There are possibilities of a trade with the Padres, but it would not center on Kim. Great subject for MLBTR to delve into further.
Brew’88
Plus, the Padres have a GG CF. They need a vet corner OF to platoon or DH, it doesn’t have to be a star, and it doesn’t require giving up Kim, who they will need. If they trade Kim, I’d rather it be for a #2 or #3 SP – a difference maker in the playoffs. But if they can afford $ over CBT, then just go for it and pay Cueto ferchrippesakes
Henry Silvestre
Agree.. although I could see a Kim for Arraez + Keppler deal.. Araez slides to 1B Crone stays at his AS position 2B.. Keppler gives SD the COF they need primarily a defensive OF lhb.. pads would add Pomz to the deal to even up the $$ exchange what of any value Pomz (has been throwing and cleared at full speed agead)brings to Twins is purely a bonus…
tstats
Why would the twins do that, Arraez is worth more than Kim with his control, it would be closer to a 1-1 swap with Kim and Kepler and something else going to the padres
rememberthecoop
I can’t see the O’s moving Mullins…They’re trying to win now.

I would love for the Rangers to add an outfielder like trade for Cedric Mullins or Reynolds I feel like Mullins would be a good fit honestly. If not sign profar.
RedFraggle
What pitching would Texas give up for Mullins?
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
Cole Winn, Dane Dunning, Glenn Otto, Cole Ragans, and Owen White would be available, though maybe White would be off limits.
Curly Is A Dumb Stooge
Likely wouldn’t get away with not including one of Rocker or Leiter in this hypothetical deal.
Samuel
Cedrick Mullins is possibly the Orioles MVP.
Stop dreaming. There’s no way they trade him.
He’s a superior defensive CF – possibly the best in MLB One of the best lead-off hitters in MLB. Steals bases. Runs the bases well. Bunts at unexpected times and is a great bunter…..and even hits some HR’s.
You honestly think Mullins would be a good fit for your team? Wow! Hey, maybe you honestly think Sandy Alcantara would be a good fit too.
Samuel
One other thing about Cedrick Mullins…..
I once played ball on a team with an OF like Mullins. Opposition teams that didn’t know him would get all jacked up when a ball was sent streaming either far to the side of him and/or behind him. He seemed to get a great first step, then he’d hang back a bit if possible to make out the spin on the ball, calculated where it would come down, and ran straight the spot not looking up for the ball until he got there. He caught 90%-plus of those balls. By the 5th or 6th inning the opposition was frustrated and trying to hit the ball to the corner OF’s….of which I was one. And it was easy for me to cover that small amount of space.
I see Mullins do this on a regular basis. Some of the balls he catches up to look for sure like doubles and triples off the bat. Along those lines – the other thing is does is help his LF in Camden Yards. The reconfigured yard is similar to the original Yankee Stadium. While the RF bleaches is not as close in the Orioles park, LF is similar to Yankee Stadium when it was referred to as “Death Valley” – because hard hit balls to LF and Left-Center went to die (for outs). Since Mullins covers so much ground in CF he takes pressure off the LF (usually Hays) by covering some of his ground.
The O’s people know this, and know how valuable he is to the team on defense alone….especially the pitchers.

I agree Samuel – not an orioles fan, but these trades are severely underrating Mullins. I don’t think he is the “best” but he is definitely a threat in a lineup and a more than solid center fielder.

Something is wrong. The first comment wasn’t Wow!

Some Astros fan (most likely) is impersonating me and is using a variation of my username (Degrom Texas Rangers, Texas Rangers Degrom, etc.) to either mock or misrepresent me. How can I report this? I don’t see an option to do this, and I do not want to be misrepresented with that username. I’m not a public figure and this shouldn’t be happening. @Admin
Redsoxx_62
No one knows who you are outside of your name in this site. Why do you care if someone else is using a similar name?
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
I don’t want to get banned over something stupid that guy says.
tedtheodorelogan
Change your name. I’ve had like 4 different ones whenever I forgot my login.
gbs42
If someone got banned, it would be based on their full login information, not just their username.
GASoxFan
Any ban should be tied to the actual comment seen. I served as admin on several classic car message boards and you didn’t parse the user database for a name, you found the content and addressed the user there.
Likewise, if suspected of multiple accounts the admin accounts almost always see hidden info, in our cases the IP address could be expanded like you have links to expand reply/flag/mute fields. If it looks like a banned guy on another account you open the IP info and compare the numbers.
More info than you probably wanted, but, hope it helps you rest easier.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If you change your name, likely they’d try to troll the new one too.
Don’t worry about what others waste their time on, and, happy new year.
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
Thanks! Happy new year
Pants Rowland
Have fun with it.
For example, upload a unique avatar that immediately differentiates you with the doofus …
so when the jagdoofus starts trolling, “rip his ass” (to paraphrase Lee Elia) … and everyone can then easily see who’s who ~
Fever Pitch Guy
GASox – A couple years ago I was heavily impersonated, I never worried about them getting me banned, but they did cause some posters to get me mixed up with the impersonators because people didn’t notice the subtle differences between the names.
BTW – I used to own a ’72 Challenger, sweet ride!
GASoxFan
Agreed on the ride, betcha wish you kept that one. Back in high school I bought a white 71 challenger drop top with the hemi, 727 auto, black gut and black top.
Being in the Berkshires, floors already had issues and it continued to rot thereafter.
Purchase price? $1500. I don’t like to think what it’d be worth today, even if I just let it rust into the dirt as is. Wish I’d had land or a place to keep them all, but, my folks sold their place about 4 years after I graduated HS and I worked on the road.l back then. So, almost all my goodies went away – the 51 3600 stepside chevy, that dodge, the riviera, Hurst Olds and the 442 cutlasses… most of the spare parts too, and a bunch of others that didnt seem so special at the time. I think about 3 years after that I started putting myself through college.
I’d like to get a b5 blue car one day, hopefully before i cant enjoy it or they outlaw driving gas powered ones on the road. I also liked the plum crazy ones, kid brother to a HS friend had a 72 Cuda he has shipped up from VA back in the day, had poorly welded on nos quarters when it showed up and didn’t run, but, #s matched. Wonder if he ever finished it, we lost touch through the years.

GASox: Classic cars? Now you’re speaking my language, friend. Had two, ‘69 Camaro, 350 & ‘70 Chevelle SS 454 clone. Love the classic cars….
GASoxFan
Always nice to talk about shared interests that transcend rivalries, I could go on for hours on the subject…. owned many. Fixed some, cut up some for parts that couldn’t be saved to help save others. Been putting off cutting up one of my c10s that was stolen from me and recovered, it’s heart was a 1969 DZ302 from a camaro… I’m hopeful I can salvage the engine at least. It’s been replaced by a 4×4 suburban thats now got a 496 big block in it with a 4l85e and 4.10s. But I want to save the 302 engine, and, rebuild the damaged cab someday I tell myself…. we will see.
Yankee Clipper
DeGrom: I do appreciate you pointing this out because he’s responded to my posts and I initially thought it was you.
However, after reading this I saw another response to my post on the new GM/manager contract story. So, I don’t blame you if you flag his post as a copycat account. I called him out for it anyway.

There’s a “Flag” option with every comment. Right next to “Reply”.

Kim for “win now player” Adell?
Has Mark started his New Years drinking early?
SMH vigorously…..
gbs42
Maybe it’s you that started the New Year’s drinking early, because Mark said, “the Padres would probably want a more clear ‘win now’ player” than Adell.
Henry Silvestre
I dont think Kim moves for less than what I proposed above or for a SP like Pablo Lopez but then Crone moves to 2B and we have a hole at 1B..and Carpenter is more of a DH..occasional 1B/LF more so than a 600 PA player at this point of his career
Sid Bream Speed Demon
Kim isn’t worth nearly what Padres fans think he’s worth.
Buuba ho tep
Sad day in Pittsburgh and the whole baseball community. 50 years ago today THE GREAT ONE Roberto Clemente tragically died in a plane crash one of the greatest to ever play. I watched many times over his career. I was 15 when he passed Roberto didn’t play baseball, he performed baseball.
ChrisEnvy76
Nico Hoerner in the outfield? I don’t think that is even a remote possibility. He played center field in AA and had an Adam Dunn-esque fielding percentage.
Snellzilla #7
Giants in the trade market? I don’t know how comfortable I feel about that. We have a few decent prospects, Harrison, Luciano, Schmitt, McCray, Matos, to name a few. But at this point I question our front office’s decision making.
WooMai55
Wasn’t the reason for keeping Jeter at SS and moving A-Rod more to do with Jeters weak range or plays to the 2nd base side. Playing him at 3rd would of created a void between 3rd/Short.
If Jeter moved it would of been to 2nd… I suppose you create an infield to best suit the whole (and to cover any hole).
stymeedone
I found the A-Rod or Jeter question interesting because the same thing is currently happening in SD where they signed XB, but instead of moving him to 2B, they are moving Kim to 2B. There is a lot of data available showing Kim is the better SS. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of egocentric players out there. In his best season ever, XB was barely average. Why even have a department to analyze the data if you don’t use it?
In Seager/Hader We Trust > the 70 MM DH Ohtani
Semien for Yelich salary dump? Maybe ask Mil to throw in Adames or Devon Williams? Idk about WAR, given how defense only guys with bad hitting skills tend to decline very quickly. Texas has 1 million middle infielders and just 1 outfielder.

Hey, that “Bees/Beads” thing is a real rip-roarin’, side-splittin’, knee-slappin’, roll-on-the-floor laff riot.

Not trying to be the grammar police or anything, but this drives me insane.
Can we please learn the difference between there, they’re, and their?
I promise, it really is not all that complicated or difficult.
They’re = they are
There = Often used to begin a sentence or used to describe or give a direction.
There are plenty of fish in the sea. Hey, look over there.
Their = signals possession or ownership of something.
Alex Anthopolous, the Braves general manager, has done a solid job managing their payroll.
I genuinely hope this helps someone. Most people, I think, already know the difference, but nowadays common sense isn’t so common.
I can only imagine the smarta55 remarks and comments that will follow this one, so I’m definitely keeping the replies off and not revisiting this page. Lol
Best Wishes and Happy New Year

I’m with you on this. It’s very annoying. Another that gets me is the use of “these ones”. You can literally just say these, dropping the ones or say these + what you are talking about. These tomatoes are ripe.
