Wilmer the Thrillmer
I’m pretty sure Bruce Bochy would only have come back if he was assured the Rangers ownership and front office were completely committed to winning championships. I’m sure Boch has a ton of say in personel changes and acquisitions. I’m excited to follow the Rangers. Kinda like I followed the Chiefs after Joe Montana became their QB.
Longtimecoming
I picked deGrom to go to Rangers as well. I wonder what the split was between Rangers/Mets/Dodgers?

The Rangers need a Left Fielder (Benintendi), someone who can handle 3B if Jung has to start at AAA to open the season and a couple of bench pieces. Pitching wise i think people will be disappointed and they won’t end up with deGrom or Verlander but they could get Rodon and or Senga
DUDDUS
99.9% sure Jung isn’t starting the season in AAA and even if so Miller, smith and Duran have all played there. Also benintendi is not someone I think they should go after. Haniger would be a much better option. But I think you’re right about pitching acquisitions, sadly. But surely they will add at least ONE of those guys.
Rsox
I’m not sold on Haniger being healthy enough to stay on the field. David Peralta for a year might be a better investment
Longtimecoming
Seem like there are more teams that need a LFer than there are LFer’s (at least any good ones) so that market is going to get to overpay status quick.

Steve Adams, why do you do this? You answer a handful of questions from a few people for 15 minutes. No insights. Almost half of those were minutes were silence while you tried to make up some answers. You don’t know this team. This was a joke.
Texas Outlaw
I thought he did pretty good.

It wasn’t Adams’ fault as much as the questions.
People try to apply fantasy baseball team logic to real-world MLB team problems.
The Rangers need starting pitching, not another catcher or somebody’s hotshot young outfielder.
Fans who follow the team seem to think the Rangers will (1) sign a big-money starting pitcher, hopefully deGrom, (2) sign or trade for another starting pitcher, hopefully Rodon or Senga and (3) add a corner outfield bat. (Haniger? Gallo?) If they have enough cash left for a closer, yes, that, too.
The infield is set with Seager, Semien, Lowe and Jung. The outfield has Garcia and probably Taveras, who just turned 24 and whose numbers would have been much better except for tailing off in September (as young players who aren’t used to the six-month MLB grind will do).
The same can be said for Heim at catcher. Heim had a .780 OPS in mid-August before tiring and slumping while starting 50% more games than he’d ever played before.
It seems the Rangers are just fine with a catcher tandem of Garver, Heim and Huff.
And nobody talks about what could be the biggest off-season acquisition — new manager Bruce Bochy.

The Rangers can sign Jacob Degrom and they’ll finish with 80 wins maybe. If he’s healthy:
Teams that develop their own young players win ball games.
They’ll just be recreating the (old?) top heavy Angels team that has won nothing for the last decade.

Don’t forget Garver.
Obviously we’re more than a couple pieces away but as Wilmer mentioned a HoF manager doesn’t come back for a full on rebuild. I believe they get DeGrom and another lesser SP while adding an OF bat. Then use the farm to pick up two pieces at the break.

To be honest I have no idea what you do with the Rangers.
You spent $500MM on a middle infield last year but the team around it isn’t there.
You can’t spend in to oblivion nor can you just offload those contracts. So…..What do you do? Hope the (kinda) new FO becomes great at identifying and developing undervalued talent. Without that you’re just painting yourself into a box. Spending spending spending and most likely not getting a complete team.
