The Padres rattled off three victories in a row to take down their division-rivals and advance to the NLCS. After defeating the 111-win Dodgers, San Diego has plenty of momentum as they prepare to take on the Phillies with a spot in the World Series on the line. The Friars will not make any changes to their postseason roster, keeping the same 26-man roster that they beat the Dodgers with.

Though the Padres have made no changes from their NLDS roster, one player of note is lefty starter Sean Manaea, who has not seen game action in two weeks. Currently, San Diego has Yu Darvish lined up for Game 1 and Blake Snell for Game 2. It seems probable that Joe Musgrove will get the ball in Philadelphia for Game 3 in order to keep Musgrove available (three days rest) for a theoretical Game 7. That being said, with Games 3-7 scheduled to be played on five consecutive days, it is possible that Manaea will get his first start of the postseason during the NLCS. Alden González of ESPN reported that Manaea threw to hitters on Monday, possibly in preparation for a mid-series start (via Twitter).
Heyman reports that Tatis will be handing out Gatorade cups to his teammates but will need to wear a mask due to ringworm protocols
Thank you for the info. See you next yea, we love LA.
I wonder if the Padres will go with an opener in Game 4 to mess with the splits. Nice thing with Clev being RHP and Manaea being LHP is you could go to either when you pull the opener so it’s tough for Philly to plan ahead.
A couple weeks back they started Wilson for an inning then went to Manaea for 4 and it worked pretty well. Could also do Morejon for an inning into Clevinger.
Could even use one of Manaea/Clev as the opener. Tons of options.
Philly essentially only changes one player for splits (sometimes two). Really the lineup doesn’t change that much either way.
That being said, I like SD’s 3-4 more than Philes 3-4. I really think if Manea and Clevinger step up, that could make the difference. Same thing with Suarez and Syndergaard.
They platoon Vierling and Sosa in against LHP I think? Not a major change but it’s something.
no fernando tatis dang
He’s suspended until next year dummy
West Coast baby!!!
Gentle reminder that Astros can eat a Bag of Dick’s Hamburgers from Seattle.
Hey hey…You mean Richard’s Burgers…
“Eat a bag of dicks” – just doesn’t sound right in any sentence or context
Since Tatis is out and my team is (Braves) I’m now pulling for the Padres to win it all even though I’m no Machado fan either.
It should be a great series with both teams on hot streaks. Looking forward to this. I think the Pads have the clear edge though.
Padres v. Yankees would get the best television ratings.
Guardians v. Phillies would have done the worst.
Eighty percent of the fans outside of Texas are rooting for anyone but Houston.
This will be a crazy series with two Cinderella teams. Can’t get better than that.
Wow, they always turn to Clevinger.
Giancarlo is sealing the Indi…Guardians fate as we speak..
Personally, I think the Guardian’s fate was sealed, the minute they decided to start Civale in game 5. Civale is the textbook definition of a #4 regular season pitcher who cannot possibly beat the Yankees in a playoff game.
You just described every Halo pitcher except Shohei.
Yet the Homer only Yankees won’t fare well against the Astros… as a Sox fan, I hope the Yankees beat the Astros but doubt that happens.
Why is Manaea on the bench?
He can’t control his pitches he’s not doing well.
Can’t stop laughing at how the Dodgers won every series vs the Padres except the one that mattered. That’s so LA…
2nd place teams don’t belong in the postseason.
Like the Dodgers last year? Truly the least intelligent fanbase…
Hey “neon cop,” you don’t know what you are talking about. I see your posts all the time and they are absolute dreck. Pure troll business. Least intelligent fan base? What a bafoon. Get bent!
Hey Trumper, thanks for proving my point!
You are so beyond welcome….
P.S. Cop, how did you manage to involve politics? That is a bit weak and not very original.
And that’s why they don’t hand out the trophy after the end of the regular season.
The game requires you to win the regular AND the post season to get the hardware.
I remember near the end of the regular season, I posted that it could be Nola v. Nola in the playoffs. Another poster responded to me that I was wrong it was not possible that the Phillies would play the Cardinals. Well, guess what, Nola v. Nola. It could only be better for them if they played the games in New Orleans.
This joke of a 2nd place team is still playing baseball……..Boycott MLB.
And what does it say about your team who is NOT STILL PLAYING BASEBALL.
Go Friars!
Fightin’ Phils dominate again!
Go Phils!
Flyin
You do know that Shane Victorino was a Padre before he was a Phil, right?
I mean that’s like saying Charlie Morton was on the Phillies. Technically sure.
True, Morton was a Phil in 2016, what maybe four starts for $8 million. Shane started his MLB career as a Padre. To me, that is interesting.
Also interesting: the Dodgers having traded a guy named Yordan Alvarez for middle reliever Josh Fields. Or that the Cubs got Ferguson Jenkins and Ryne Sandberg from the Phils.
I miss the AJ haters. Go padres.
They’ll regret keeping Mannea and Clevinger. They’re not returning to the Padres next year.
RIP world series dreams.
BAWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA Where’s the Tony Gywnn kid??? Let’s Celebrate a Padres WS.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
