When will the team be sold?
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Hey Twitter World –
Please cut or trade Grandal, Moncada and Anderson.
I’m just saying
GM Wannabe 2
Sounds good to me.
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Pierzynski should be The Manager as well.
GM Wannabe 2
AJ would be too controversial & divisive.
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Long Live Hawk and Farmeo
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Liam’s Hendrik. He has value.
Please move Grandal, Moncada, Anderson and Hendrik.
They all make me sick to my stomach.
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Grandal is so bad.
The GM and his Boss should be removed for that signing alone.
That is by far The Worst FA Signing in the History of Baseball. Set them back a decade. If not the worst, it’s in the discussion.
Jeff Blauser to The Cubs is in the conversation
What are some others?
stymeedone
Adam Dunn
hyraxwithaflamethrower
Worst FA signing in the history of baseball? Chris Davis would like a word, Stephen Strasburg is on hold.
For the White Sox, I’d put Dunn is the worst. Grandal at least had one good year and then the best bad year you’ll ever see. He was worth it for half his deal. LaRoche also comes to mind.
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Grandal was never decent. His bat was decent but his defense is an abomination.
You can run on him at will. Sucks w the staff. He can frame a pitch, that’s all you can say. His Baseball Acumen is hot garbage.
I said as soon as they signed him to that deal.. theyll never win anything with him catching.
Now you could DH him but you already have 6 or 7 DH’s, another whoopsie.
Again…all of this makes me sick to my stomach.
Pitching and Defense wins Championships. They have THE WORST DEFENSE in Baseball.
The most important defender on a team is The Catcher. He runs the staff, he’s in on every play. He sets the tone. Hes the QB – Point Gaurd.
I love Zunino and Maldonado and those type of guys.
New favorite player is Adley Rauschman. Hes going to win a ring or 2 before it’s all over.
Thanks Twitter Folks…
Im just saying
Rsox
Chris Davis, Josh Hamilton, Mike Hampton, Denny Neagle, Jacoby Ellsbury, Carl Crawford, Pablo Sandoval, Melvin Upton Jr., Hanley Ramirez, Chan Ho Park, Wei-Yin Chen, Bobby Bonilla, Darren Dreifort, Albert Belle, Adam Dunn, Mo Vaughn, Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, Russ Ortiz, Gil Meche, Jack Clark, Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright, Hideki Irabu, Daisuke Matsuzaka…Jeff Blauser doesn’t even make the top 25
OJ's White Ford Bronco
If all of that is in your head, you’re the craziest person on the planet. Hahahahah
Jeff Blauser is on my list! Hahhaahah
shanen
A few things make me happy in this world. Packers losing, Iowa losing, Cards losing, and White Sox losing.
Its been a good year lol

Throw in Notre Dame

How about a trade with the Marlins… Lopez for Grandal, Jimenez and Anderson?
White Sox get some salary relief and a starting pitcher… Marlins get some offense.
hyraxwithaflamethrower
I’d rather do Jimenez for Luzardo, straight up. TA is up and down as a fielder, but his hitting has been solid to great for four years now. And as he goes, so goes the team. I don’t like being tied to Grandal, but I’d rather eat the money than take a lesser return on two of the team’s biggest trade chips.
OJ's White Ford Bronco
Done
Jimenez should be the Best Hitter in the Game but he cant stay Healthy. Hes up there w Yordan. Again they already have 7 DH’s.
As Big as Clown as LaRussa is, he never had a chance. Nobody does.
You’re better off Cutting Grandal Outright than having him on the roster.
I’m just sayin
DCartrow
Where have you gone Swede Risbourg?

Had to stop reading half way through…..
The rebuild wasn’t a rebuild. What the Orioles and Guardians did is a rebuild. End up with gobs of young talented players at low salaries and years of control. As the keepers adapt to ML play their salaries will go up, have plenty of money for that. Finding that there are weakness that can’t be addressed by the players the team has, there’s money to sign FA’s or take on salary in trade.
The Sox went close to their payroll limit before their (limited amount of) young players even established themselves in MLB. Then came the Kimbrel trade where they “went all in”. Now they have no financial flexibility….but the fans want them to sign guys to $50m and more contracts.
Most of their players play poor fundamental baseball and are radically overpaid for what they produce. Not too many attractive candidates to trade.
You can’t bring in a bunch of overweight players that don’t take care of themselves, then say they they were unlucky in the injury department.
The manager matters a lot. But he should be a part of a system of FO people, coaches, etc. that bring along players in a coordinated manner. Along those lines MLB is all about pitching – teams working with and developing their own pitchers. Sox don’t do much of that.
I believe their “window” closed in 2021 and either the FO people knew it or wouldn’t admit it. Trading a young, cheap core member of the “rebuild” for a high priced closer that took their payroll to the max leaving the FO no flexibility – when they already had the best closer in the AL – was something a desperate FO does.
There is so much wrong with that organization that a manager or pitching coach or a player is not going to overcome. Their history is like the A’s, Rockies, Rangers, and a few others….they’re lousy…they get some decent players….the fans think they just need a few pieces….they overpay veterans to come in….the team gets better but is still a buck or two short – the payroll is at a max and players are due large raises….they offload players and get lousy again – wash, rinse, repeat.
roob
I’ve been a Sox fan for over 50 years. I agree with MOST of your assessment if the Reinsdorf era.
It’s a terrible organization with inept people running it and a really lame organizational philosophy which assures that they can’t compete with the big boys or really competent teams.
Samuel
roob;
I remember the ’59 White Sox that played great defense, had speed and ran the bases well, had solid pitching, and found ways to win. They got to the WS.
Teams they’ve had over the years seem to be built around some lumbering power hitters and a few good pitchers. Ozzie argued for – and got – some team players. But that didn’t last long.

Jimenez 25 ABs 1,000 OPS .831 SLG .504
Vaughn 24 ABs 900 OPS .730 SLG .414
Let’s stop pretending that Vaughn will be the better hitter going forward and thinking that for some reason he would be a gold glove first baseman. I think Vaughn is the better trade bait because there is no future contract tied to him. For Eloy…..he’s 6’4 someone teach him how to play 1B part time and DH with Sheets and I’d be happy if Vaughn could fetch you a Pablo Lopez or other starting pitcher.
Samuel
msqboxer;
Please read my post above.
The Sox are at a max payroll based on revenues they take in.
Jimenez and Vaughn are young, controlled, affordable players. They’re the ones you want to keep for years.
flamingbagofpoop
Eloy would probably snap in half bending down to pick low throws.
Dylan Riley
Tim, you mentioned it would feel “White Soxy” for them to take on Josh Donaldson. As a Yankee fan, I would be more than happy for this to happen, but the White Sox are probably one of the last places the Yankees can send him after the Jackie fiasco from this season.
Tim Dierkes
Agreed, I blanked on the TA-Donaldson drama when I was doing the chat. They wouldn’t bring him in.
pharmorlover
Heard a rumor while sitting at Dunkin in Bridgeport.. hot of the presses.. Esteban Loaiza is gonna use some of his drug money to purchase the whitesox. You heard it here first !

Any chance the White Sox take on Josh Donaldson?

This feels White Soxy to me, they do have a long history of acquiring former stars past their prime.
After the racist crap he did towards TA? Jerry is a real jack wagon… but that’s probably a bridge or two too far for even him.
hyraxwithaflamethrower
It’s racist to make fun of someone for what they said? Ok…
Not denying that JD’s a tool (putting it nicely) and that it would cause some fireworks on that team, but I didn’t find the comment racist. I found TA comparing his struggles to Jackie’s far more tasteless.
