Given the D-Backs needs at 3B (and offensive thump in general), how likely is it they leverage trade assets to make a run at former Mike Hazen acquaintances Rafael Devers or Xander Bogaerts? I know pitching, especially in the bullpen, is the bigger need, but a trade like this would signify “going for it” more than any other possible move.

If you want your question answered, you should ask it on the chat.

Kendrick is a stumbling block. Worst owner in MLB. Plus, he’s basking in a team loaded with youngsters w/low contracts. He’s making money like never before. Hazel must work for peanuts.

To fans of all teams. Before the 2022 season, Cleveland signed Emmanuel Clase to a 5 year deal to cover his arb years. The extension includes 2 options years. Clase is part of the future of the Cleveland Guardians and will not be traded.

Here’s another trade scenario for a 3b…Madison Bumgarner to White Sox for Yoan Moncada. MadBum has $32M due over the next two seasons. Moncada has $46M due, plus an option for $20M more in 2025. White Sox need to reduce payroll and need another starter. Dbacks need a 3b and need to open up starts for their 5 young pitchers: Henry, Nelson, Jameson, Pfaadt and Walston, in 2023. Having a bad contract in an area of need instead of blocking the team’s future is worth the extra salary, and, who knows, maybe Moncada bounces back and becomes a productive right handed bat (he’s a switch hitter)? Even if he doesn’t, his 2022 down year productivity is better than what the Dbacks got from Rivera.
Holy Cow!
The Sox say no. MadBum is not worth the $10 million saved for the Sox here. Moncada is one year removed from being a good player; Bumgarner is three years. The Sox are better off offering minor league deals and hoping one pans out like it did with Cueto.
Ghost Pepper
Go ahead and keep paying Moncada then.

Just saw somebody picked up Luke Weaver after being released by the Royals, he was the key trade component for Paul Goldschmidt, if you’re wondering why the DBACKS always suck

And Goldschmidt was just beat out for Gold Glove by the guy who replaced him at 1B. I wish Dbacks fans would stop acting like Goldy is better than he is.
