To add insult to injury, the Twins left Tyler Wells unprotected in the Rule 5 draft and the Orioles scooped him up. First year, bullpen action to strengthen arm after TJ surgery. This year, a steady rotation guy. Ouch!

Do “we” really have to answer “do the Mets re-sign DeGrom, Diaz and Nimmo” every chat?
VonPurpleHayes
Seems like it, but it’s a valid question. I know Cohen has broken the bank so far, and he’ll likely have to increase the payroll next year just to maintain status quo. I think the Mets will be forced to make some tough decisions while still remaining a top 5.
drasco036
It’s a valid question but it’s been addressed in every single chat for at least the past month and a half.
I guess it’s an easy “soft ball” question when you’ve answered it 10 times already… just basically cut and paste the answer.
Look forward to seeing it fifty more times before the 2023 season starts.
VonPurpleHayes
Haha. I’m sure they see so many questions that they don’t even realize how much it’s asked.
.
It’s just taking the place of “Does Jo Adell get traded?”
mlb1225
That question came up so much last off-season that the writers just started to answer it at the beginning to get it out of the way lol.

Christopher Morel should definitely get consideration for ROY.
vtadave
He will get consideration for 3rd place.

The question of Cabrera retiring or not is interesting. The Tigers could try to buy him out as he has no milestones to chase and given his complete power outage i don’t really know if he helps at the gate at all. However, it is only one more season and after watching the year Pujols has had while chasing 700 HR’s maybe Miggy comesback next season and has a strong farewell tour
mlb1225
Cabrera is playable vs LHP at least. He’s batting .294 with a .368 OBP. But he has a .304 slugging percentage. He has the lowest ISO vs LHP, which is kind of wild when you see he’s not striking out much and drawing his fair share of walks along with making a decent amount of contact vs southpaws. It’s kind of impressive, but also kind of sad, for how little power he’s hitting for. He hasn’t hit a home run since May 16th.
jk
They are going to pay big money for him either way. They might as well keep him to help elevate the young guys. Platoon him at dh. Worked for Pujols in the dodger situation.
