I’m not sure what “Ed” is talking about. I don’t see big question marks in the Cardinals’ outfield. I think Carlson and Nootbaar are fixtures. Even if O’Neill can’t turn it around, Yepez, Donovan, and possibly Burleson should be able to handle LF. The only piece needed is whoever takes Dickerson’s spot next season, needs to be able to handle CF. We’re a little thin in center.

I thought the given reason for Ohtani NOT being traded at the deadline was “Moreno didn’t want to trade Ohtani while the other stars (Trout, Rendon) were sidelined on the IL…”, for fear of the fan backlash from the trade and attendance plummeting the rest of 2022 if Trout couldn’t return.
If that’s true, I see Moreno being open to trading him if he can’t get an Ohtani extension

The question: Do the Tigers need a starting pitcher or a bat?
Let me answer that.
The Tigers have a plethora of quality starting pitchers, with their top 3 returning to action in 2023. In the meantime, what they’ve pieced together has been one of the best starting staffs in baseball. Since the All Star Break, Detroit’s starters are #1 in the AL in ERA, and 3rd in all of baseball. They might even be 2nd now that they just pitched a shutout on Sunday.
Something like 8 out of their 10 regulars hitters are somewhere real close to .225 and they are chasing a record for fewest runs in a MLB season.
I’m gonna have to go with bats.

The tigers proved this year that you can never ever have too much pitching

They still have a lot more coming. Reese Olson has been very strong. Jackson Jobe just got promoted go high-A. Ty Madden has also been strong. Not really any big time bats anywhere, though Nieporte for Erie is a possible MLB slugger. Emphasis on possible….

Colt Keith?

He was definitely a possibility until he got hurt. But, he never got passed high-A before his injury. I like to see a player producing at AA or higher before I get all excited about someone.

For the record Mark, Tom Ricketts is not the Cubs owner. He’s the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Cubs. His father Joe Ricketts is the owner. The odd thing is he has the title of Owner but has nothing to do with the team other than that title of Owner.

I can’t see how Toronto could be the best manger job available. Tough division. So many primadonnas. Canada.

“Canada.” Care to elaborate?
I’ve heard Toronto is a wonderful city in the summer. I’ve never been there, but my trips to Montreal have shown it to be full of very friendly people.
Having the support of an entire nation behind one team would be very nice. Certainly a challenging division, but the team allows competitive payrolls.

Mark, I don’t see the Guardians having any interest in trading Bo Naylor.
