Kerr AND Ruiz for Gallo? Put the pipe down, Yanks… you aren’t getting either.
Joe says...
Cashman would have my undying respect if he pulled that off.

Love the “more like cash or a PTBNL” response
Javia135
Ha! The Yankees would have to send cash for the Padres to even take him.

WIth trading Soto; they’ve got to trade Cruz(who’d want to hang around with no Soto). If they trade Soto and cruz; Bell’s go to go, also. Get a bunch of young players that they can pencil in the line-up; let them play.
Free up $ for vet talent in 23. And that would be alot of $, Nats are notoriously big spenders.
You Can Put It In The Books
Yes, the Nats should trade for as much prospect talent as they can get. But it won’t be in preparation for some some spending spree in ‘23 as you suggest.
hoof hearted
Spending? I guess it depends on new ownership,
You Can Put It In The Books
Yes, you said, “free up $ for vet talent in 23”. Unless you meant something else, this is way off base. The Nats have a long rebuild ahead of them. And that’s even with whatever prospects they get for Soto.

Kinda pissy comment. If mine is ambitious and laughable, yours is pontificating ignorance
I’m just speculating like everyone else.
You Can Put It In The Books
Not really. You’re just not very bright, hoof. It nice use of your paperback dictionary from 5th grade to attempt a comeback!
VonPurpleHayes
@hoof Just mute ’em. Constantly mean spirited and obscenely bias towards his team beyond all reason. It’s a shame be a there are some decent Mets fans on this site and the Mets are one of the most exciting teams in the game this year, but some posters make talking about them unbearable.

Wise advice from “the smartest guy in the room”…
You Can Put It In The Books
1. Soroka has no timetable for his return. LOL
2. Who’s the Yankees dummy who thinks they can get anything of value for Gallo, let alone Ruiz. LOL
Thanks for the laughs.
Joe says...
That was so stupid I’m sure it was someone posing as a Yankees fan.
Pedro 4 Delino
It was probably captain judge. Have you read that dudes proposals in the comments? He’s either trolling or drank the pinstripe kool aid.
You Can Put It In The Books
That guy is one of the possible culprits for sure. He’d have you believe the Yankees are about to trade for Soto and Castillo and then sign Trea Turner in the offseason.
Mikel Grady
Soto will be traded to cardinals for Edman Sosa and nootbaar. He will fall in love with St. Louis and sign 15 years 100 million. GoldSchmidt and arenado were grabbed for nothing . Jealous Cub fan fyI

It’s going to come down to who has the premium prospect depth and the capacity to take on a humongous extension
Samuel
Anyone trading for Soto will regard him as a rental – 2 or 2.4 years – and the trade package will reflect that.
Yes, they’ll have exclusive rights to sign him to an extension, but Scott Boras wants all his stars to go free agent. Talking about $500m for 11-12 years would be a starting point. Not really sure of too many organizations that will pay that PLUS trade 3-4 quality prospects for a guy that’s a great hitter, but not a good defender…..and hitters can only bat once every 9 batters.
Fever Pitch Guy
Samuel – I can see maybe 2-3 teams willing to trade for Soto and offer him a contract that he ultimately accepts the way Mookie did.
But I think that depends on what happens to other guys like Devers, Judge and Ohtani.
I think some teams will shy away from Soto because they plan to go after Ohtani.
Samuel
As I noted above, the problem with baseball is that unlike the other sports, a teams best offensive payer can only perform once every 9 batters. Looking at the way Juan Soto (the new Ted Williams) or Mike Trout (the new Mickey Mantle) and others are not being maximized for their star power, this archaic rules seems downright….may I opine….stupid!
Now: WWCMD? “What Would Commissioner Manfred Do?”
Ready?……..
Each team could designate a player – call him ‘THE MAGIC BATTER’. The Manger could bat him at any time. The scheduled batter would have to wait until ”THE MAGIC BATTER’ was done hitting to resume his spot in the batting order. ‘THE MAGIC BATTER’ would be allowed to bat 6 times in a game up to 9 innings (i.e. if a game is rained out before 9 innings the batter can still bat 6 times). ‘THE MAGIC BATTER’ can bat more than once an inning. The Manger can use him as a batter at anytime. In fact, if he gets on base and the manager wants him to bat again, the team could use a pinch runner – call him ‘THE MAGIC RUNNER’ – that would not be counted as playing so he could be used again and again in the game as a pinch runner. However, once he plays the field or bats he’s no longer allowed to be a pinch runner again.
If ‘THE MAGIC BATTER’ is injured or puled from the game, another player can replace him. This includes someone that was just traded for or called up from a minor league club – there will be special spots permitted on the roster for any number of ‘THE MAGIC BATTER’ a team wants to use each game.
Now, about extra innings…..
‘THE MAGIC BATTER’ will be allowed to bat once every inning whenever the manger wants to use him. ‘THE MAGIC RUNNER’ can be inserted as a pinch runner at any point, including replacing ‘THE GHOST RUNNER’ to start the half inning.
–
Look at this as sort of 2 wild cards in a poker game. This proposal will keep fans attention on the game as every half inning there’s a chance that at any point ‘THE MAGIC BATTER’ will emerge from the dugout swinging the lumber. It will increase scoring, and allow Scoyt Boras to make Juan Soto the first billion dollar ballplayer!….which is what MLB is now all about.
tstats
That’s stupid. It’s a team sport designed to have nine batters bat in an order and strategy that involves you dealing with below average hitters. Might as well have a MAGIC PITCHER that can come in for one PA at a time to kill a rally then come back in later to do it again.

DarkSide830
This is some tim-consuming satire right here.
flamingbagofpoop
Funny to see someone talk about prospect outcomes not being a sure thing and then declare Soto will provide “mvp-level” production for 2 years (despite this year showing that’s not at all a certainty) in the same comment.
You Can Put It In The Books
Let’s see you try to hit in that putrid Nats lineup!
DarkSide830
Oh no guys, Soto’s had a few substandard months! He’s toast!
