I know the chats over but I’d like to put some questions here so is viewers can chat.
Does Nevins actions this weekend cause the angels or any team for that matter to view him negatively or positively compared to what they thought of him a week ago? Does his actions hurt his chances at finding a full time gig as a manager?
Gwynning
Well, I imagine he’s not getting hired in Seattle anytime soon… beyond that, I know nothing.
kellin
I also wanted to ask a question about Nevin.. basically does Steve think Nevin’s actions will fire the team up or is it, again, a wasted season?
petersdylan36
I feel like if it fires anyone up, oddly, it’ll be the mariners.
Rsox
Nevin’s personality will probably keep him from getting a full time Manager job, his actions on sunday notwithstanding.
DGHalos714
Coming from a Halos fan I think it is too early to decide what impact it will have. I’ll say this…for the last decade plus I don’t think any previous manager would have gotten involved or have been that heated. It was the first actual rumble on the field I have seen our team have. I feel it already fired our team up and showed we have players united and there to back up or fight for each other. It seemed to me that Winker who got hit could have just went to first base knowing the pitcher was immediately tossed from the game. Instead he fed or bought into what our bench was saying and even gave the bird and other poor actions towards the opposing teams fans. Not a good look and to me showed he like everyone involved just lost their cool. Crazy fight to watch….hope it ignites our team cause it’s been a struggle to watch the last month or so

Wil Myers contract this off-season over/under 1 year/ 5 Million?
Gwynning
I’ll take the over… somebody Wil pay him.
Rsox
Myers may not get more than one year but he will probably get more than $5 million
petersdylan36
Hosmer contract effectively turns into a 3 year/39 million deal this off-season. What’s his trade value at that number?
Gwynning
Better value perhaps… but more immovable. He obtains 10 & 5 Rights this offseason which means he can block any trade. Like it or not, he’s probably a Pad for the life of the contract.
Rsox
Three more years won’t hurt the Padres and it’s not like he’s blocking anyone.
If they do try to trade him it would probably be an easier pill for some team to swallow but most likely the Padres will still have to kick in either cash or prospect capital to get a taker
Kimberly Ramirez
yess u right
ukpadre
He is blocking people though – people we could trade for. For years we haven’t gotten a proper 1B because Hosmer’s useless ass was camped there with his bloated contract. It’s radical, but he should have been DFA’d years ago or basically paid to leave to another team and then brought in a proper 1B (or moved Cronezone to 1B and someone else to 2B – could have kept Urias or Edwards for example). Who knows, maybe we make the playoffs last season with some extra hitting propping up the pitching?
Gwynning
Gallo for Lamet.
Joe says...
Not the worst idea. I like the odds of the Yankees pitching coaches to turn him around.
Though if it were up to me, I’d trade Gallo for a minor league concession stand worker.
kellin
Somehow I doubt the Padres want another below water contract…
Rsox
Gallo is a free agent after this season so it’s not like they really have anything to lose in the deal
ukpadre
Lamet is done. Padres will snatch your hand off for someone to take him if they have any sense.
Henry Silvestre
I’ve posted that before…makes sense for both

No questions about Michael Conforto anymore. What must he be thinking?
Rick Wilkins
I mean, he’s hurt. No one is going to sign him until after the season. Not much to talk about. Unfortunately for him, he turned down a significant amount of guaranteed money, and it just didn’t work out. Gonna have to work his butt off to get back to that level. Lots of guys have gotten millions from betting on themselves. You know the thing about betting though, right? The guarantee is safer, just in case you turn back into a pumpkin at midnight….

Hilarious thinking Turner or Correa would sign in Baltimore or that the Angelos family would pay anyone $300 million.
