Do you think GMs send out mass texts to their peers asking the following?
“Anyone interested in a couple of my highly compensated veterans on expiring contracts for all your top, young, controllable prospects?”
If it worked like that, many of us could have been awesome GMs. Alas, we are participating in mid-afternoon chats on MLBTR.

Using his career averages and based on typical regression for All Star level players only, Judge will be a league average hitter after 2026. Since he is a below average fielding player and will be confined to DH for most of the rest of his career, signing him to much more than a 5-6 year deal is not smart and GMs are wicked smart now days.
Unless some owner decides he absolutely must have Judge, he is going to be sorry he didn’t accept the Yankees offer.

The Mets will go after him. What a coup to get the Yankees big slugger. LOL. Think Mr. Cohen cares about the money? Ball will be in Hal’s court in the off-season. For Mr. Cohen it’s a win-win no matter what happens.
