What’s already been a hectic week of trades and transactions is set to culminate today, as the NHL’s 2022 Trade Deadline is at 2:00 p.m. CT. Make sure to follow our coverage on Pro Hockey Rumors (@prohockeyrumors on Twitter!) to see what happens as teams have their last chance to move talent in and out before the end of the regular season.
We’ve already seen some gigantic waves this week, such as the Florida Panthers acquiring longtime Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux for an unexpectedly low price, and the Boston Bruins shoring up their defense by trading for and extending former Anaheim Ducks defenseman Hampus Lindholm.
There’s still the potential for blockbusters today, though. All eyes are on the Arizona Coyotes and defenseman Jakob Chychrun, as the 23-year-old defenseman is now the best man on the market, but it’s not a given that he gets moved out. The Anaheim Ducks may not be done yet after dealing away a good portion of their defense, as two-time 30-goal scorer Rickard Rakell is also on the market.
Make sure to continue to follow Pro Hockey Rumors throughout Deadline Day as all the action wraps up. You can also keep up with all of the trades on our Twitter.

What is hockey? Meh.

Wrong site guys
Plenty of stories to write on right now and they post this?
30 Parks
Why not post this topic across all platforms? What’s the burden? You need not read same. Have a little faith in the Trade Rumours crew. As a moderate NHL fan, I appreciate the heads-up.
kleppy12
Same, didn’t know deadline was today so I spent 10-15 minutes on the NHL reading up on trades so it had the exact effect that they were going for.
kleppy12
Yes, that’s how marketing works. It was written by someone from the NHL site so it literally took them a few minutes of time to post it on here. It also worked I loosely follow the NHL and didn’t know today was the deadline and just spent 10-15 minutes looking over the deals that have been made so I’ll go ahead and say they know more than you do.

I was at a boxing match and suddenly a hockey game broke out.

That’s older than you are.

Why would baseball fans be interested in hockey?
There is movement and action and stuff.
Nothing satisfying like watching a guy adjust his gloves for ten minutes each game before slowly walking back to the dugout after his third strikeout.

So what your saying is in a effort to get even less in trades the reds are going to start trying to deal players to nhl teams

Im sure good old Canadian boy Joey Votto still knows how to lace up the skates.

JD, I wonder who the best hockey player was to ever play MLB? Maybe Tom Glavine? I think Nyger Morgan was good, too. I once chatted with Matt Stairs on this topic, he assured me the answer to my question was “Matt Stairs.”
Joe It All
I would guess Glavine had the best potential to be the best hockey player. I’m pretty sure he was drafted in the 2nd round by the Los Angeles Kings so you have to think there is quite a bit of pedigree going for him.

Go back 100 years, James Riley.

On the flip side, the great one was a pretty fantastic baseball player
30 Parks
… interesting. Thanks, Jon.

Dusty, that’s right. I had an uncle that played against Gretzky in a national little league tournament back in the day. My uncle is happy to tell the story every time he gets a few beers in him!
nukeg
100% true. I post below about this.
vaderzim
Hockey is cool, but post this on the Pro Hockey Rumors page instead. Hockey fans are following the deadline on that already, regardless of whether they are a Baseball fan or not.
Dustyslambchops23
Or, just thinking out loud here. If you see a post of a topic you don’t care for you, you can just skip it?
Lots of people complaining about a free sites ability to cross market their other assets.
30 Parks
Rumour is the Padres are willing to trade Hosmer & Myers to any NHL team for a bag of pucks and a handful of good riddance.
Jaysfan1981
You guys realize the own the football hockey and basketball rumor sites, and are trying to cross promote it.
I swear we can’t be this dumb.
kleppy12
I beg to differ haha
californiaangels
Seeing people cry about a cross sport post is quite funny. I don’t follow hockey but still cool to brush up on some news! Don’t like? Don’t click
Grim_work
They’re promoting their other site. Some people wake up to complain.
kleppy12
Seriously, wtf is wrong with people? It takes zero effort to just not click on this story if you don’t want to read about the NHL trade deadline and it was written by the NHL site writers. People are acting like MLBTR missed 50 trades/signings because they posted a 4 paragraph story about the NHL deadline being today. I complain about stuff more than the average person but man some people must be that miserable in their lives if this is what sets them off.

Playoff hockey > anything else
BigFootsFart
Okay.
zorocoaster
Hockey sucks. Get this out of here.
bhambrave
@Zoro: no one forced you to read, or post.
zorocoaster
I’m aware nobody forced me to read or post. That is obvious. Is this what you do? Go around and point out obvious things to people? Is that your thing?
I posted this to provide feedback to the people who run this site that I am not interested in anything but baseball on this feed, which is my prerogative to do.
diddlez
shut up will ya
senior52
Trade deadline at end of season seems rather odd.
notnamed
it’s not the end
bhambrave
I just opened this to see whiners complain. I wasn’t disappointed.
If you don’t like hockey, don’t click on the article. Pretty simple.
Joe It All
This is a great idea to put this post on this site. I never look at NFL trade rumors but since the start of free agency I’ve logged on to there 4 or 5 times a day to check who has signed where. Great way to pull the baseball fans who also enjoy hockey over to your sister site.

NHL is highly underrated

espn has tv contact and the website coverage is almost nonexistent. nascar also

go red wings, do something
Old York
I wish MLB would allow teams to trade draft picks.
bhambrave
That would shorten tank/rebuilds.

To tie these 2 sports together, Wayne Gretzky’s favorite sport is baseball. His father, knowing his skills, told him he can be a good baseball player or one of the best hockey players to ever play. He chose wisely.
30 Parks
Keg, Gretzky’s kid was a good ball player, too. Trevor Gretzky was drafted by the Cubs, I believe. Runs in the family.
bhambrave
Meanwhile, Wayne’s daughter Paulina…
30 Parks
Brave, she’s the most naturally gifted Gretzky.
diddlez
I don’t follow hockey and don’t personally care that today is the trade deadline, BUT I’d also never post a comment whining or complaining about this post either. What exactly motivates so many to express their dislike towards a post like this one? It’s mind boggling to me that some people can’t just read the title and move on lol.
zorocoaster
Skip the hockey stuff next time please. I’m here for baseball.
