So it doesn’t look like the Padres will trade CJ Abrams even if a team took on the contracts of Myers, Hosmer and Ha-seong Kim together, much less just Myers for one year. Did you notice that AlienBob?
Please, Hammer. Don't hurt 'em.
I was a little surprised by that. I know selling prospects is uncommon and frowned upon no but they would be selling him for about $120 million in that case. That’s a hell of a lot of money for one prospect. I think Babe Ruth was sold for a mere $250k.

I’m thinking that question from NYC about trading JD was about JD Davis and not JD Martinez. The guy was from New York after all and Davis has been in the rumor mill a lot more than Martinez recently.

Why is it that everyone seems to think Jose Ramírez is specifically getting traded to Toronto?
Javia135
Fans of every team are throwing out trade ideas for Ramirez. I have yet to seen 1 with offering anything close to the prospect offer that it will take to get him. These ideas are just dreams.

Because Toronto needs a left handed bat and a third baseman. They want Freeman to play first and pretend Vlad can stick it at third base. Vlad can’t though. Ramirez is switch so they get the lefty bat (kind of) and a legit third baseman. It makes sense for them to want him. It doesn’t make sense for Cleveland to trade him until the deadline. Unless Cleveland punts the season. Which they probably Cleveland either needs to spend money now why they have this ridiculous rotation and miniscule payroll or just admit they are something like the 15th most likely team to win it and stand a better chance aiming for another year.

Cleveland just added 11 prospects from their strong farm system to their 40 man roster. Add that, plus their pitching, to the adding of a new minority owner means Ramirez will stay in Cleveland for 2022.

High amounts of fluoride in the water? ;o)

Perhaps the fans coming up with those trade ideas are also clients of Eric Kay?

I can’t believe I’m writing this but I would absolutely love Carlos Correa on the Orioles

Sweetest swings: Tony gwynn, rod Carew, George Brett
Dtownwarrior78
I agree Rod Carew could hit the cover off the ball, but his swing “beautiful”? No way is that swing a thing of beauty. Looks more like a wind up, spring loaded mechanical toy! But man could he hit!
SDHotDawg
Carew would change his swing, sometimes pitch-to-pitch, depending on the situation. He’d choke up, open/close his stance, start high or low, etc. He was a great hitter.

Something about lefties. I’d put cano up there too. First righty that comes to mind is Manny Ramirez. I like manny machados too, but don’t think most would agree with that
Orel Saxhiser
I agree with you regarding Machado. What impresses me most is how consistent he is with it. It’s a level swing that he never seems to mess with, regardless of how he’s going at the plate. He trusts himself and his approach, which is obviously a huge part of his success.
Nick Castellanos is another righty swinger who comes to mind. Also, Anthony Rendon when he’s healthy and on the field. When Rendon was in Washington, it was a joy watching him and Soto swing the bat. Lovely stuff with great results.
Soto’s approach at the plate reminds me of George Brett, who was my favorite hitter to watch throughout his career. No matter what the count was, Brett always seemed to be in control of the at-bat. And if you get him out, it would be a mistake to think you have him figured out the next time you face him. Soto is so similar. Two peas in a pod, always sizing the pitcher up and perhaps giving the appearance they were fooled when they really weren’t.

Ken Griffey Jr. No effort to his swing, just smooth all the way
