HOW ABOIT DEM COWBOYS!
Redsoxx_62
Why am I not even surprised that he’s a Cowboys fan?
VonPurpleHayes
He’s not a Mets fans by the way. This is all a joke.
MetsFan22
No I’m actually a huge Mets. Ik every Mets player know most prospects. I might make some jokes here and there but I actually believe the Mets are very good and way better than the Phillies.
VonPurpleHayes
No self-respecting Mets fan roots for the Cowboys. I know you have your schtick. So I’ll play along.
MetsFan22
No i don’t live in NY so I’m not a giants fan. My dad was a huge Mets fan so that’s how I became a Mets fan
The Mets "Missed WAR"
He is a Mets fan. I assure you. He has literally memorized the mWAR for every single Met this season and recited them to me. No way a non-Mets fan does that. He has spent all season convincing himself the Mets are better than they are. It’s like meeting a guy who just got a life prison sentence but won’t shut the hell up about how he’s going to win his appeal and get out very soon. It’s sad but it’s the only way he can convince himself life is worth living anymore. On another note I am no longer the only person mocking him with a screen name. I must’ve started a trend because there is a subscriber now named ShortBusMetsFan22.
VonPurpleHayes
Nah. I used to think so, but I’m convinced he’s doing this all for laughs now. He’s successfully developed a following and everyone responds. It’s a gimmick. He’s trying to make all Mets fans look bad.
Ducky Buckin Fent
It’s probably Mr Dierkes & he’s laughing his ass off at us, @Hayes. Remember the thread about hiring a writer? It was ~ a hundred posts *all* about metsfan22! He now has 3 posters on the board with names derived from his.
It has to be some kind of joke account.
But I can’t tell whom is parodying whom half the time anymore.
iverbure
Shortbusmetsfan22 lmao my god that made me laugh the hardest I’ve ever laughed on here.
Noel1982
It’s not that hard to believe he’s a Mets and cowboys fan ! The common theme is both fanbases regularly this is their year every year ! He probably is also a Celtics fan in basketball and maple leafs fan in hockey
VonPurpleHayes
Haha. Exactly Ducky! I actually think he’s a bit of an evil genius.
The Mets "Missed WAR"
Haha, Noel. Celtics is a good guess. I was gonna go with Lakers though. He’s probably one of those people who roots for whichever team LeBron is on and just switches his loyalty all the time. Every time he switches I’m sure he still pretends he was always a die hard fan even before they got LeBron. Am I the only one who notices the disparity between some of Lebron’s opinions? He vocally supports equality in the US but his actions clearly support child labor and sweat shops in other countries. It’s like he sees inequality as okay as long as he’s the one who gets to profit off of it. I liked him better when he was less vocal because his hypocrisy wasn’t so blatantly obvious. I didn’t blame him for it back then because he was just a basketball player who didn’t seem to know better. Now that he has become so vocal it is obvious he knows better… but he still keeps on cashing those paychecks he gets for supporting child labor and sweat shops.
Phanatic 2022
If the Mets played football they would win every single World Series ever!!!
DarkSide830
surely your intention is to be as acrimonious as possible at this point, right?
hockeyjohn
Mark P. – You are showing your Blue Jay bias on the Ramirez Hernandez comment. Cleveland just extended their lease, have to sell the rebranded Guardians to a fan base where many were against the name change, and are rumored to add a minority owner. No Ramirez trade makes sense for the Guardians.
Dustyslambchops23
No Ramirez trade? You sure about that?
If anyone is showing bias and isn’t being reasonable, it’s pretty clearly you. Cleveland can move jram and improve their ball team, in the right deal. Nothing is off the table
jdgoat
All Cleveland does is trade away their good players. There is nothing to indicate that a player like Ramirez would be off the table for them. They have to realize they’re pretty clearly behind CWS and will more than likely be looking up in the standings at Detroit and KC in the near future. They may as well get max value now before they lose him for nothing in two years.
hockeyjohn
JDGoat. Cleveland was two games behind Chicago when they lost Shane Bieber and Aaron Civale to injury for two months. Two weeks earlier they lost Zach Plesac for over a month. Cleveland was 8-2 vs Chicago in 2020 and 9-10 in 2021 with the injuries to their top three starters. Cleveland can compete in the AL Central.
Also, I shared in another comment, that Cleveland is facing 40 man roster issues this December with many of their best prospects from their strong farm system needing to be added to the roster. A Ramirez trade could make that process much more difficult. costing Cleveland more pieces. than just Ramirez..
hockeyjohn
Cleveland is facing a 40 man roster crunch this offseason and many of their top prospects must be rostered. They also plan to contend in 2022. Adding MLB ready pieces adds to the roster crunch. Adding far away prospects kills 2022 and likely 2023 which wastes their controllable starting pitching. Ramirez is much better than Hernandez. So explain how Cleveland can improve.
There is talk that Cleveland may be adding a minority owner. When John Sherman, now the owner of the KC Royals, was a minority owner, they spent much more. It has also been reported that their is mutual interest in a Ramirez contract extension. All extension talks need to be exhausted before any move is considered. See things from both teams’ view. .
jdgoat
I feel like you’re under the impression they wouldn’t be getting Moreno or Pearson among others as well. Nobody suggested it would be Ramirez for Teo straight up. It just seems foolish to waste such a good asset on a team that more than likely won’t be anything better than mediocre anyways. It also goes about 180 degrees opposite of how they’ve operated over the past three seasons. They’ve made a big deal trading away a win now piece in every one of those years, I don’t see why this would be the year they reverse course.
hockeyjohn
There certainly would need to be more pieces. The problem as I have stated that you have failed to pay attention to is their roster issues. . Adding more 40 man roster pieces would cost Cleveland to possibly lose future pieces for nothing in the rule 5 draft. Most of Cleveland’s strongest prospects must be added this offseason. Look for Cleveland to trade prospects to find established outfield help rather than moving Ramirez. See the entire picture.

I enjoy watching the Indians/Guardian FO, which I think has proven to be one of the better ones in MLB – hence the constant rumors of big market teams asking about Antonetti and Chernoff whenever they have a Baseball Ops / GM opening (as the Mets did recently). Your reactionary observations show you don’t understand what has been going on for years now…..
Cleveland has been rebuilding on the fly. They base their team on pitching – particularly developing young, cheap starting pitching from their farm system. They do the Branch Rickey thing – “better to trade a player a year too soon than a year too late”. Cleveland – like Tamp Bay and other small market franchises – know they can’t pay retail salaries to many players, they simply don’t have the revenue stream from local TV-Radio and gate receipts as salaries being paid the population in their area are not as high as to those working in NYC, LA, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, SF, SD, Toronto, etc. for comparable skills – i.e. the cost of living is lower.
So the FO will move name players when they’re approaching free agency if they cannot sign them to an extension, and work on getting all existing players to step up their games to replace the lost production (Francona is the best manager in MLB in working with players). They seem to be pretty good at this, as I cannot think of one veteran pitcher they moved the past 6-8 years that did better for any length of time after leaving the organization than he was doing with them.
The current situation with Rameriz is typical – if they can get him to sign an extension at a reasonable salary, then they’ll keep him. If not, they want value back with a smaller salary and years of control. As hockeyjohn has pointed out, getting back 2-3 prospects won’t work due to the fact that they have been rebuilding under the radar, and have a nice number of prospects…..knowing that some will wash out, and hopefully for them, others will prove to be members of a new core going forward.

without a JRam extension.. they won’t change course (keeping and letting a win now piece walk) as you’ve stated.. The return as suggested by Mark P was left open as all that can be discussed is speculative. Adding a two or three guys to a JRam for Teo deal.. makes sense.. The prospect capital that is swelled from these addition can be evaluated.. and a package cobbled together in a 3 for 1 or 5 for 2 type deal with another “rebuilding/reloading” club. This is also speculative. Will it happen.. who knows.. all the right things are being said by all the right peope to maintain the illusion that the status quo is being protected.. Things will change.. when they change.. I guess..
this is the crux of the matter.. if it’s opined that a deal for JRam is just not going to happen for any reason.. then a CA/MC pseudonym is writing in these comment areas of MLBTr.. ane we’re being give a news scoop !!.. who knew?
1984wasntamanual
Couldn’t Cleveland look to package JRam and some of those 40man guys to Tor for an MLB contributor and better regarded prospects? They don’t necessarily need to condense prospects into an MLB asses to ease the 40man crunch. I know teams don’t often trade a quality prospect for 2-3 lower quality ones, but if means getting someone like JRam, Tor would probably consider it.
gson
Generally speaking.. prospect for prospect trades seldom happen.. there doesn’t seem to be a single reason for this.. It could be that due to the uncertainty of prospects in general, one side of a deal would only be looking for an ML’er that has some track record.. A 3 for 1 or 4 for 2 type deal would make sense.. only if the higher priorities for a deal is met.. 40 man roster crunch is not in the top five priorities..
Mark Polishuk
A Ramirez trade that brought back an established slugger like Teoscar Hernandez would certainly ease the pain for Cleveland fans.
Do I actually think such a deal would happen? Probably not, but since the question was to think up a semi-plausible trade “as a fun exercise,” I went with the broad strokes of Teoscar/J-Ram without filling in any of the other players that would need to be involved to make such a trade feasible for either team.
Samuel
Mark Shapiro still has ties to the Indians/Guardians people as they remain friendly competitors. He was a part of the FO as Rameriz was developed in the farm system. The Cleveland and Toronto FO’s keep in touch and know one another’s situation and players under contract quite well.
Adding a Teoscar Hernandez bat to go with Franmil Reyes as middle of the order run producers for the next 2-4 years is quite realistic from the Cleveland standpoint, although they’d probably ask a bit more, maybe blow out the trade to one more member from each organization.
But I don’t know why the Jays would go after another bat when they have plenty of hitting and need more pitching. Than again, this is the way Shapiro learned from John Hart as the Indians team of Lofton, Omar, Belle, Manny, Thome, Sandy, Baerga, etc. was put together – a 1-9 batting order that could all mash, but the pitching was always lagging.

Guardians is a joke. The only ones upset over the Indians name are white liberals. Native Americans know it is an honor and don’t generally have a problem with it any more than cowboys are upset that there is a team in Dallas using their profession or ship pilots are upset that a team is called the Mariners. It was stupid to change the name, kill the team history and upset the fan base. For what? To placate all the woke left wingers who mostly don’t even live in Cleveland?
Giants74
You are right. White liberals ruin everything. What do they have against Spiders, Bridegrooms, Highlanders, Staleys, Gothams. Naps are always good. How can you be offended by Stags. Who could be offended by a Steagle. You would have to really godless to hate Orphans. Lake Shores are beautiful…

MLBTR should open a thread for discussing each post-season game. I know it’s not really part of their model, but it would get a lot of traffic.
Mike LaValliere
That’s actually a pretty good idea….until someone brings up politics, religion, Trevor Bauer, any player arrested for domestic violence, COVID, that Mets 22 clown, Indians, Guardians, booster shots, voting laws, the vaccine, Ron Washington, and cocaine. I suppose if you could eliminate those talking points, it might be doable. Probably better put a character limit in there as well so some of these long winded posters, don’t write 6 page papers for comments.
DS1
Why is MLB pushing gambling so strongly? I’m frankly getting tired of it. Even the announcers are talking it up.
I guess it’s anything for a buck.
bhambrave
It’s all about the Benjamins.
