The Minnesota Twins are currently accepting applications for the following positions:

I’d love to apply with the Twins for Shortstop.
Lloyd Emerson
For he’s a jolly good fellow
for he’s a jolly good fellow
that nobody can deny!
BuyBuyMets
Only fellows can apply?
The Cancel Culture Cretins are gonna love this.
SalaryCapMyth
Cancel culture cretins? You mean the free market?

Isn’t “fellow” a misogynistic term??? Somebody call AOC immediately.
trgtfld
If you look at the posting their looking for college seniors or graduate level students. So, they’re using “Fellow” like it would be used in a university setting. “Intern” might be a better description.
Not everything has to be political. Fellow can also be used in a non gender specific way. For example, “Majorie Taylor Green introduced me to some of her fellow nut cases who believe in QAnon.” 🙂
LordD99
Actually, that makes it more surprising the term hasn’t been canceled at university level.

So, thinly veiled Age Discrimination in job postings can be added to Derek Falvey’s fast growing resume of incompetence (As I write this, Twin giveaway LaMonte Wade Jr just denied the Dodgers at the wall with the bases loaded).

If they ever need coaches and GM’s, this is the place to look. We’re loaded with them here at MLBTR. At any given time, there are dozens of commenters who know more than every GM, Coach, analyst and so on.
Fever Pitch Guy
Yes it’s crazy how people who have never been employed by a professional baseball team can actually have the audacity to express an opinion.
Because every GM, manager (that’s what they are called in MLB), etc always makes the right decisions. They are never, ever wrong. They never, ever make bad decisions.
I wonder how many years of experience in professional baseball is required for the above Director of Baseball Research position?
SalaryCapMyth
LOL! You feel attacked or something? >=D
Fever Pitch Guy
LOL! I didn’t make it about me, so why did you? I was agreeing with you ;O)
SalaryCapMyth
What are you talking about? I just asked you if you felt attacked. What makes you think it had anything to do with what I previously said? Way to make this about you. =D
Halo11Fan
I knew more than Perry Minasian knew this off-season. Admittedly, that’s a very low bar.
I’m wondering how someone who thought Claudio and Gurerra were going to help solve the Angels bullpen problems has a job.
Fever Pitch Guy
Why would you ask such a random question if it had nothing to do with your first post?
Okay, I’ll play that game too!
LOL! You didn’t eat your prunes today or something? ;O)
Blah blah blah
yeah good thinking posting that here. the boneheads who read this site (including myself) are surely qualified…
Bigtimeyankeefan
Do you guys think that just because one doesn’t work for a baseball team that they do not know baseball? For example, does it take a genius to see that Gary Sanchez cannot field? Or perhaps one needs a degree to see that Gallo walks, hrs or strikes out?( still amazes me that he had his first ever sacrifice fly this year). Perhaps, it takes training for analytics and certain other aspects, but the simplistic subjects that are commented on here in the comment section, surely do not require employment in an mlb organization.
LordD99
But why is everyone still so wrong if it’s simple?
Fever Pitch Guy
Everyone (GM’s, managers, etc) is still so wrong because they don’t always look at things from a proper perspective. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of human emotion.
Like for instance Cora leaving Robles in the game Sunday and allowing him to pitch to Arozarena with two outs and a runner on 3B. Everybody on the planet knew that Randy should have been intentionally walked, but Cora insisted on pitching to him.
Managers are human, they make mistakes just like everyone else. Sometimes the mistakes don’t cost them very much, other times they do.

Dick Williams told Jose Santiago to absolutely not walk Harmon Killebrew and Killer hit his 44th home run, tying YAZ for the league lead. Williams immediately told YAZ it was his call and YAZ was fine with it. Sometimes the path to victory is not obvious. Williams was more worried about Tony Olivia. You think ahead and assess the best move.
Cora won the chess match this time, so hats off.
SalaryCapMyth
@Fever Pitch. This looks familiar. Are you also agreeing with Bigtimeyankeefan? =)
Fever Pitch Guy
whyhayz, you didn’t watch that game apparently. Randy doubled in the tie run, Cora lost that chess match.
Fortunately he had enough talent on the team to bail him out.
Winning a game doesn’t mean every decision made was the correct one, just like losing a game doesn’t mean every decision was the wrong one.
Fever Pitch Guy
Yes, I am indeed agreeing with Bigtimeyankeefan!
Plus I would also add, nobody should make assumptions about commenters here. They could very well be employed by an MLB team or have been in the past, and nobody would know.
Dorothy_Mantooth
How about them Red Sox! They don’t need any fellows; they are in the ALCS.
Fever Pitch Guy
Dotty I’m with you! Sox have just 6 in their analytics department, while the Yankees have 20 and the Rays have 15. Yet look at which team has the most championships since 2004.
whyhayzee
I’m a Fellow. My wife is a Fellow. It has to do with passing ten exams.
It’s a gender neutral term.

Great site! Does anyone know of other sites available about MLB news in general where it is as easy to post and strike up conversations with other fans? Maybe MLBTR could start another site that’s not just for trade rumors. I’d love to chat about ongoing series, games, and the postseason with others of both a similar and opposing view point.

Jump on the Clubhouse social audio app. They have fantastic baseball discussion rooms (Baseball Collective and MLB on CH) and coverage of the playoffs daily, with very knowledgeable baseball people from all over the map.

Please keep this to sports Listening to neophytes repeat what that hear on social media is tedious.

Thank you for posting this. I applied to one of the positions.

I should be a GM. I would change a franchise. I deserve the positions
